This one was a student’s request. And being a dedicated teacher, I obliged of course. Très bienvenue Ann 😊 And I must admit I thought this one will be easily done. Hum, never judge a song by its cover. Pun intended! The beats and fills are very easy, but the feel of it is not! This track is sooooo laid pack and wonky at times it was a nice challenge to play along and try to match the rhythm section. I got to know the tune quite well and was able to match it, I believe. A good exercise in that feel. I’m ready for the country gigs now!!
As for what is played, this is what I believe is what is played on the record. I listened to it for some time and realized this is so a ’70s track. Meaning, perfection was not the mission. Listening to it you realized that the two fills are played slightly differently. The first bar fill is played without the kick, and the second with it. Some kick notes are doubled when the bassist isn’t playing two consecutive 8th notes, etc. In short, very 70’s and it works! Maybe this is why 70’s music still is played today. The feel above perfection. Debate me!! :P
But I’m always up for a good debate 😊
