This festival eurockéennes of belfort was totally insane this day. Artic Monkeys have played earlier at the end of the afternoon, the Strokes at midnight, followed by Daft Punk for an unforgettable set.

I live in France, in a valley surrounded by mountains 30 km from the place where this concert took place. Every summer at the beginning of July, we can imagine the echo of the groups playing in the evening. That famous evening in July in 2006 when this was producing this masterful rock concert, I slept wisely I was too young. That same month of July, France lost the final of the world cup against Italy and my first girlfriend whom I kissed "à la française" suddenly left me without reason. Life is sometimes unfair Peace and Love
I personally believe that this is the best Strokes' gig (available at least) and one of the treasures of live music. I very much like their sound in Reeding 2004, too. When Julian had to stay sitting all the time due to injury (vocally superb and the version we have on this platform is an amateur recording, beautifully captured nonetheless), the reverb is sort of over-saturated, which results in a great advertisement of Casablancas' early days gorgeous voice. But getting back to this show, everything's there. Spontaneous, top-notch rock'n'roll/crooner voice, grainy, even rusty in the (very) high-pitched realm, and fluently creamy in the deep. Interpretation so pure and raw, not thought-of (in appearence), as usual lots of improvisation but serious enough (lyrics wise notably). The cherry on the cake, to me, is the setlist. Of course anyone might disagree, there are many sounds that are part of my favourites but not on the map at the time. This is old school Strokes gear (old)schooling pretty much anyone else in the same department. Smashing performance. I just wish they had played "Trying your luck" (and don't really know why they didn't perform it more regularly, it often being a fan's favourite). Anyways. Near PERFECT, must have listened to the whole thing roughly a hundred times. Dunno, that goosebump feel is just ubiquitous and relentless here.. Cheers, fellow strokers! :)
@@montyswingwell5945Yep that one is brilliant, too. Let's call it what it is, I like that he's more drunk here. And that's coming from a sober recovering alcoholic. Maybe that's why, maybe I'm stealing a bit of vicarious pleasure here, too.

+Gina T They were in rare form! Drunk or not, Jules is doing push ups, Fab is all zoned out, no need comment on AHJ behavior. They are using they're recklessness, personalities, craftsmanship and talents 11/10. My Mom always says "pride comes before the fall". Nothing this true, honest, and compelling can last forever. That's what makes it so great
I love this concert. My favorite was $2 bill, but now it's that one and this one. There is one thing only I am not sure about. Someday guitars ( 37:56 ) sound a little country in my opinion xD
Alex Turner got a nice voice for pop music and slow songs, Jules got an epic voice for pop, rock and electronic music, and you wanna know why ? Because Jules is god.
I don't think I'll ever get to see them play Vision of Division live since it's such a vocally draining song for Julian's voice. At least I got to see them play Modern Girls & Old Fashion Men on NYE
I've been on a music hiatus for like a month. This is the second thing that made me go hhhnnnnngggggg music, the first being various renditions of mbv's Only Shallow.
These vocals make it really hard for me to want to see them today. I wouldn't say he even sounds bad today - but this is just so good. Goes beyond the original recordings to me.
Daniel Mullin i feel the total opposite, his upper register was destroyed by alcohol abuse here, it’s actually painful for me to listen to at times. When someone screams I feel like you can tell whether or not it’s hurting them and its definitely hurting him here
if i could time travel, this is where i'd go
one of the best setlist ever.
I wished I could go there, but I was too young and it would out fast.
This was the golden age. I was at this show, I'm nostalgic.
im so jealous now
oh my god that's awesome, i cant even imagine
Really???
2006 was the best year of my life. I miss my health and glory. Please bless me with positivity I’m enveloped in darkness help me.
2006 was the best era for them - hands down.
the only thing i want before i die is watch them play Electricityscape and Ize the world.
Jeantaker the only songs that make me blast the stereo
x2 brooooo :C
never heard a better sentence
In this show they made the best live version of several songs. Just Epic!
+Lucas André I agree, I loved The End Has No End and The Modern Age.
+Efra Caso Yes! Modern Age was fantastic!
Absolutely, almost every single damn one

I can't even believe how great the strokes are, such a great concert.

Jules has the best voice in Rock today.
Fenvox79 Jules has a great voice! But Alex Turner's voice is the bestttttt
@@dudaalcantara0404 no
@@dudaalcantara0404 Not even close. Julian walked so Alex Turner could run.

I would have loved to hear Julian talk after this show.
TheSundayRevolution I really don’t know how his voice handled this setlist
Best concert of the strokes ever❤️
Literally every song sounds better than the recorded version. Even reptilia is given so much life 1:01:28
One of the few bands who can sing live so well

That "I'll be right there!" at the end of 12:51 was orgasmic! Followed by the best performance of Alone Together I've ever seen :)

What's the obsession with AT?
Fucking hell, that was 8 years ago. I still think Julian Casablancas is a god though :D
