18:28 Another great reason that this is a good location for a main base :- you don't need to build a map room from your outposts to get back; an alchemists' bench, a few blood, yellow lotus powder and you can can teleport straight back to the Lone Fisherman without having to build a map room. Great for excursions to the Temple of Frost or the Cimmerian starmetal friends place.
I like you you decide on your base location based on nearby available materials. I have basically found an area to build but I will have to look at the resources first. As always great video. Thank you.
Yeah, mid-game you need so much iron for steel and hardened steel, it is a good idea to be relatively close to large ironstone deposits. This location is my fav as it has it all; wood/stone/ironstone/coal/etc and also really close to brimstone, obelisk and easy access to the north and Mounds of the Dead, etc
I like the design! My bases always wind up looking like square prisons. 😔 Definitely add a third floor, you'll need the room, I'd think - some of those improved workbenches are pretty big! And I had no idea that you could put a wall on the outside face of a foundation!
Great tutorial on stability, and interesting base layout! One nice alternative to making a well, if you have the Mitra religion, is to make fountains at the upgraded altar and place them at strategic map locations, or take one with you in inventory (maybe leave one on your horse just in case!)
Great Building Tutorial Angaar, just 1 more thing about Stability, you can put 20 points in Expertise and taked the Structural Integrity Perk, Structures you build are 25% more stable. This means you can build from both ends to middle like you showed but can have it 12 wide rather then 8.
These guide tutorials are fun & amazing to watch I always had my doubts about buying this game, but after watching all your tutorials man that's amazing game. If tutorials aren't like this, it's not worth watching, well done 👏🏻
As always your indepth explanations are great for beginners. Only minor criticism is that since you showed flotsam because of Siptah you should have also shown Stormglass.
For my named t4 riverland agility fighters I’ve been using a mix of relic armor : Relic Hunter (light armor) Turban, Gloves, Boots for agility damage boost, and Barachan Reiver (heavy armor) Buff Coat and Breeches for health and armor bump.
That starting image gave me really bad flashbacks to Fallout 4 and going to save another settlement. Thanks for these beginner guides, they have been a fantastic resource for starting out in Exiles.

I just started a new single-player campaign, a few more levels will let me make a 4-player wheel of friendship. I'm absolutely going to exploit the render distance respawns to collect myself some crafters out of Sinner's Refuge.
Very interesting base design! Wouldn't recommend on a pvp server, but if you can find a nice hidden location, this would be a terrific build. I like to build small, near the ghost fences or inside hidden away caves, since people tend to stay away from these areas, but I have a few locations in mind where you can slap this design down. Great work as always!
Yeah, I don’t play PvP ever, so that is never a consideration for me. Will probably need to make some design changes once we find out the details of the new Purge system in Chapter 2
@@AngaarUK You are right to do so. The conan community isn't the most magnanimous. I do like to guide newer players and give them a bit of gear just so they can keep playing and progressing, but it's difficult since there are whole clans dedicated to pushing out newer players and leaving servers stagnant. I really hope funcom does something about this.
Yes, purge system was changed in Age of War Chapter 2. It is no longer based on the Purge meter filling with activity and is now called in using the Treasure Coffer when you decide. The level of difficulty is based on the amount of treasure in the coffer
I have question regarding purge and older base that we left behind. I play strictly in single player mode . I plan to build base on Jungle , Dessert , River , Highland and Volcano for resource gathering purposes from time to time . So I will move around a lot . My question is will the purge only attack base when I am near one or will the futher base that I have build get attack as well .
Not 100% sure on this as I tend to only build 1 main base and my outposts are typically too small to be chosen (needs to be over 92 building pieces to be "purgeable"). Some say it tends to pick the base you spend most time at, but I cannot confirm this.
My husband and I always have multiple bases (he loves to build). We've found the purges are unpredictable as to where they will occur. It shows up as a red cross looking thing on your map. You might want to extend the prep time for if you have to haul ass across the map. Good luck!!
I couldn't wait and copied your pyramid build a couple weeks ago by Sepameru , upgraded to tier II and finally got hit by the purge for my first time ever playing this game, and bro... The mobs were endless, didn't think I was gonna make it 😅😅
So another reason i reset my world is my daughter gave me crap after she started watching your beginers guides with me. She looked at my creative mode base and said "Angaar doesnt use creative mode". I cant wait to show her this one rofl!!!!
Hey mate, love the base design so much I'm using it in my own playthrough. Unfortunately having an issue with placing the wheel of pain. Iv got the same floor design and the roof is open but no matter how much I rotate or raise the wheel of pain, it won't allow me to place it. Have you ever experienced this issue? Cheers
Only seen that issue if the base plate is too small, need at least 1 ring of foundations around the outside of the wheel. Then sometimes you need to spin it around so the stairs are in the right place. Might me worth removing the walls to place the wheel, then you can replace the walls again. 🤘😎🤘

E8 os where you had ur base in the previous series man right next to the werewolf guy that gives you the Midnight Grove potion and the Rhino King as well. U did have a base there for a couple episodes just to gather thralls i thought. Then u made your Stormglass base in E8

It used to be if you destroy the foundation everything attached or sitting on would lose stability and be destroyed. So wall HP was meaningless. Since the walls were destroyed by the loss of foundations. That's why we always attached fence foundations and more foundations(3× to 6× to protect the real base. These are connected we don't put a gap.😮
On single player, I leave the old base intact with it's various benches, as it can be handy to pop past if you are in the area for repairs, etc. However on online servers, it is usually best to free up space for other players so I would destroy my old base when my new base is up and running.
@14:00 Purges will change in September with the new chapter of AoW. That aside, I tend to disagree with this zoning system described. T2 and T3 are not that different (foundations at 75k vs 100k HP), so both are fine for any purge, while T1 will begin collapsing even against the easiest purge. Also in the zone 2 described you can get the rocknose purge that will definitely kill defenders and buildings however strong they are, yet you don't get it on the northern edges of the map.
I have a quick question. When you going towards the Dregs why don't you run right through the camp. There's a trail to the right that takes you right up the hill it's a straight shot instead of the winding path up the hill which isn't as direct? When I personally go to the city that's the way I go. If your horse has 75% of it's stamina you will run right through the camp with our being touched. I'm just curious
Any chance of you doing an age of calaemtios / Rees play though those mods are so huge an no one has done a GOOD video series on them really lacking in logical guides, you do such amazing videos
@AngaarUK true but that is the advice I saw in someone else video. They were also using the dungeon building set. But my thinking is if it's at the center, then it's harder to get there.

Well I'm on my 3rd attempt now, and that effin wheel won't go down that one notch required to fit under the roof. I've tried raising that first foundation stone but it makes no difference. Is this a pc thing? As you can see I'm scuppered for ideas!
So you need to place it without the roof on and then add the roof after. Or do you mean you are unable to raise and lower the wheel? This is not a PC only thing, I believe you use the trigger buttons on consoles to raise and lower items before you place them.
God only knows how you did the pillar trick, I spent an hour doing exactly what you did and got nowhere. Managed to get the middle piece in, but not how you showed us, but the end corner piece just won't comply!
Those three layers should be built on the outside of that wall not inside. This creates a buffer around the actual building. Fencing blocks Archers. We ring our base walls with a three ceiling tiles wide Archers platform. Then six wide rings of foundations, so Archers can target the purge. Fighters outside so they can target the purge. Palisades defence for outside foundations and Fencing. 😊
My son was working on Journey after thrall taker for pets (Beast Master) . He got to the step of "feeding the pet." This step won't complete and the journey is stopped. 😢 Have you noticed this? He is levelling to thirty from twenty-three.
That’s a strange problem I have noticed too, and sometimes it seems it won’t let me manually feed them… until it does. The system definitely has some quirks.
The journey says. To use the menu wheel to open inventory. He just pressed E to go to inventory. He didn't click the use. He will let me know if that works.
What food are you using? Desert berries give you a 10% chance to get a Greater, but it is purely RNG so could be first try, could be 40 tries, depending how lucky you are 😞
Yeah, even using the berries it took me about 30 hatchlings to get one Greater Shaleback, and then I got 4 of them while clearing out my collection of last 15 hatchlings. RNG can be sketchy!
Guys what can You tell me about pvp base as solo on to of broken aqueduct in the breach? Can You tell me it's weakness please? I was playing single player for about 300h but got no pvp experience
Strange, I tried placing the foundations or the left and right circular towers. But try as I would I could not get it to make a circle, it went all do-lally. I have ended up making them smaller so that lined up properly. Really strange though, I copied your layout to the T. Mind you, I am bit stupid. Update: Just watched you again and I see my error. I was not facing my blocks inwards. Told you I was stupid.
@@AngaarUK ok ty. many of the paths are broken. I was doing the sorcery one after the fact and it doesn't recognize I have already done things and I have to toss it all out and do it all over again. Buggy game.
i dnt like the way you cant put somethings against othrs in building , like a piller close to a spot on a pilling, unless im doing something wrong.new to this game .built a lot in valhiem but this is lots different
@@AngaarUK I just think it's time to expand on the level cap a bit more . 60 was probably at the start but the game is expanding and evolving so I think the players levels should reflect that just my opinion .

I don't know if you told new players this, be careful where you build. When you place something in a location, it will not come back once the resource is gathered.
@AngaarUK I see what you mean. Can only craft with brick for journeyman Mason. But the lesson is to start building T3 materials ASAP. Don't wait until they unlock Master Mason. This is what most players do. Then they have twenty-five bricks, no stone consolidant, five steel reinforcements, and three shaped wood. Then they cry T3 castle building is impossible. Hence creative mode. Most gamers harvest less than 500 of all resources a week or even a month. But they want a raid-proof castle. 🏰
A lot! 😂😂😂 When I did legit builds without Creative Mode I would build the outer layer (the bit that gets attacked) in the high tier material and the inner parts in cheap tier 1. Then you can slowly replace the inner parts with the higher tier over time. Or, like I did in my Let's Play 3.0 series, just build the ground floor and slowly build up as and when yo get the mats for it. But I will say, that we get the detail on Chapter 2 and the revamped Purge system tomorrow (Thurs 23rd Aug), so everything might change once we know that details.

I was finding the game a bit boring and confusing, that was until I started watching your vids. Now I am having a fantastic time. I am copying everything you do which of course works out a little different to your game. The one and only thing I am not going to copy is to murder my faithful follower. I am human with warm blood.
I do not like the Journey steps, asking you to unlock things which you may not ever need after completing a Journey step. Because the game doesn't tell the new players that there are only a certain amount of points you get to unlock the things you actually need, nor does the game tell you that nearer the later levels things cost even more points to unlock the end game items you actually do need.

@Angaar, I don't have any DLC, and wasn't able to craft a Katana. Would a Steel Poinard be a good substitute for the Katana?
Katana is part of the base game (under 2-handed Bruiser section), but yes daggers or short sword are also good

Just didn't want doors on the ground floor on this build. You enter via the 1st floor and then go downstairs to the basement

I recently noticed that the wiki classified the Wine Cellar thralls as Relic Hunter Tomb Raiders (faction).😮
When you move your base do you build new work stations, move the old ones or demolish them for mats and then rebuild in new base?

How do we sink an item like the you did on the wheel with console? I looked on the wiki and it says no key.
Not played on console but wiki says Y/triangle to cycle build mode and then LT/RT or L2/R2 to raise/lower

Well I'm on my 3rd attempt now, and that effin wheel won't go down that one notch required to fit under the roof. I've tried raising that first foundation stone but it makes no difference. Is this a pc thing? As you can see I'm scuppered for ideas!
So you need to place it without the roof on and then add the roof after. Or do you mean you are unable to raise and lower the wheel? This is not a PC only thing, I believe you use the trigger buttons on consoles to raise and lower items before you place them.
God only knows how you did the pillar trick, I spent an hour doing exactly what you did and got nowhere. Managed to get the middle piece in, but not how you showed us, but the end corner piece just won't comply!
I did it, but I had to fudge it though.
Those three layers should be built on the outside of that wall not inside. This creates a buffer around the actual building.
Fencing blocks Archers. We ring our base walls with a three ceiling tiles wide Archers platform. Then six wide rings of foundations, so Archers can target the purge. Fighters outside so they can target the purge. Palisades defence for outside foundations and Fencing. 😊
Fencing block arches only with full . Half not.
My son was working on Journey after thrall taker for pets (Beast Master) . He got to the step of "feeding the pet." This step won't complete and the journey is stopped. 😢 Have you noticed this? He is levelling to thirty from twenty-three.
Have you fed them using a pot? I'm wondering if maybe that's the issue. Either that, or its just bugging out.
You seem to need to force feed them. Actually select the food in the pet's inventory and hit the Use button.

That’s a strange problem I have noticed too, and sometimes it seems it won’t let me manually feed them… until it does. The system definitely has some quirks.
The journey says. To use the menu wheel to open inventory. He just pressed E to go to inventory. He didn't click the use. He will let me know if that works.
I don't get it I tried like 10 times to get a good shell back but every time I get the basic green one
What food are you using? Desert berries give you a 10% chance to get a Greater, but it is purely RNG so could be first try, could be 40 tries, depending how lucky you are 😞

Yeah, even using the berries it took me about 30 hatchlings to get one Greater Shaleback, and then I got 4 of them while clearing out my collection of last 15 hatchlings. RNG can be sketchy!
Im just gonna keep my main base at noob river and make outposts near towns and caves where I want to tame people and animals.
Guys what can You tell me about pvp base as solo on to of broken aqueduct in the breach? Can You tell me it's weakness please? I was playing single player for about 300h but got no pvp experience

Strange, I tried placing the foundations or the left and right circular towers. But try as I would I could not get it to make a circle, it went all do-lally. I have ended up making them smaller so that lined up properly. Really strange though, I copied your layout to the T. Mind you, I am bit stupid.
Update: Just watched you again and I see my error. I was not facing my blocks inwards. Told you I was stupid.
You can no longer craft purple orbs. I have the advanced alchemist bench and that item is not in the crafting list.
You need to unlock that item as a reward for completing the Thrall Taker journey 🤘😎🤘
@@AngaarUK ok ty. many of the paths are broken. I was doing the sorcery one after the fact and it doesn't recognize I have already done things and I have to toss it all out and do it all over again. Buggy game.
i dnt like the way you cant put somethings against othrs in building , like a piller close to a spot on a pilling, unless im doing something wrong.new to this game .built a lot in valhiem but this is lots different
Yeah the building system is not 100%, but with using some of the various tricks you can build some more interesting buildings.

They should rase the level cap maybe 100 or 150 possible 200 just my opinion

@@AngaarUK I just think it's time to expand on the level cap a bit more . 60 was probably at the start but the game is expanding and evolving so I think the players levels should reflect that just my opinion .
@@sirsilentxx there is a mod that allows you to go up to 120 and get every Attribute Point maxed out. But too cheaty for me

I don't know if you told new players this, be careful where you build. When you place something in a location, it will not come back once the resource is gathered.
Making hardened brick rolls several lessons into one. 🤔 Also shows the player to start crafting hardened brick ASAP.😮
But not if you only need brick for Tier 2 building pieces. I think the hardened brick should be in the next Master Mason journey

I see what you mean. Can only craft with brick for journeyman Mason. But the lesson is to start building T3 materials ASAP. Don't wait until they unlock Master Mason. This is what most players do. Then they have twenty-five bricks, no stone consolidant, five steel reinforcements, and three shaped wood. Then they cry T3 castle building is impossible. Hence creative mode.
Most gamers harvest less than 500 of all resources a week or even a month. But they want a raid-proof castle. 🏰

A lot! 😂😂😂 When I did legit builds without Creative Mode I would build the outer layer (the bit that gets attacked) in the high tier material and the inner parts in cheap tier 1. Then you can slowly replace the inner parts with the higher tier over time.
Or, like I did in my Let's Play 3.0 series, just build the ground floor and slowly build up as and when yo get the mats for it.
But I will say, that we get the detail on Chapter 2 and the revamped Purge system tomorrow (Thurs 23rd Aug), so everything might change once we know that details.

I do not like the Journey steps, asking you to unlock things which you may not ever need after completing a Journey step.
Because the game doesn't tell the new players that there are only a certain amount of points you get to unlock the things you actually need, nor does the game tell you that nearer the later levels things cost even more points to unlock the end game items you actually do need.
