radio caroline , with occasional breaks, transmitted up to 1990. I had the pleasure of visiting the Ross Revenge while it was still at sea in September 1991. A highlight of my life in the 70 years I've had so far. LOVING AWARENESS..
The irony of the WMCA good guys was that originally WABC and WMCA were both imaging themselves as the good guys...I loved the way Radio Caroline later took the fortunes Caroline and developed it into a theme song. The Pirates were great.Radio Caroline,Luxenborg. The music was great and the American Boss Jocks who came to Caroline were great. The stations were innovative and Outrageous.I loved the Pirates but could not work there because of sea sickness..The Shanman
Hi - Thanks for your comments psionxx - You are quite right Radio 390 broadcast from Red Sands from September 65 to july 67. Shivering Sands was used by Radio Sutch from May 64 to September 64 followed by Radio City from September 64 to February 67. Well spotted - I'll put it down to a tiepin error.!
Good jingle & clip mix, and good photos. Thanks for uploading. Should just mention, though, that Caroline from the MI Amigo remained off the Essex coast until March 1968, not August 1967, which was when the infamous Marine Etc Broadcasting Offences Act came into effect.
At around 6 minutes he says something about "green baby" and in the background a song is playing also saying "green baby". Is that part of a full song? Does anyone know the artist, if so?
Dig it baby, it was never just The BBC there was & is nothing like diverse air waves ! I was agog @ the number of jocks with wanna be Yank accents though.

A selection of Sixties Offshore Pirate Radio Stations
Where a broadcast took place from a ship? I wasn’t around in the 60s...
The Radio 270 vessel was called Oceaan 7, not 'Ocean' - This is the Dutch spelling ....
Radio 390 transmitted from the Red Sands forts not the Shivering Sands forts.
Radio 390 transmission was from Red sands fort not shivering sands ???
I think Britannia radio & Radio England broadcast from the same ship ???
and what about King Radio and Radio Essex .....not so famous , but they were also there for the coast of Essex...
thx for posting
Are these full complete shows? And are the CD's professionally pressed or are they CD-Rs?
