    You are a genius to innovate and fix still usable machinery. Your kids are blessed to have a teaching dad

    In 1976 or 1977 it was really dry. We had a swampy field east of the house we used to pasture but that year Dad cut the swamp grass and baled it for bedding than we hand broadcast old leftover clover seed. A couple weeks later the clover was knee high. I think we got about 1,500 bales off that 6 acres in 2 cuttings. It was the only year we could get on it with a tractor. In a normal year that patch was like a bog. When the neighbors saw it they lined up interested in buying hay. It was work but we were fortunate to have it. I was also going to say it was neat to see that B in action.
    We had a Brady flail chopper and we would open and divide our cornfields the same way as you did. Thanks for sharing.

    I just realized while watching the Bearcat work, that you're running modern equipment. The Bearcat chute operates by wireless connection! 🤪
    I had bleu cheese on a burger once. Did not fit my tastes. Someone in the Maytag Appliance family created bleu cheese at their farm in Iowa, a site that one can visit and sample it.

    I enjoy watching your channel. My family farmed in Le Center MN and still have some family farming northwest of Minneapolis. We have had excessive rain this year here in Texas where we operate a cow/calf beef operation and custom hay baling. Finally got all the first cutting hay done, a couple fields will be on third cutting soon. I like to watch how you use all your equipment and involve your family. Hopefully one day I will have a large number of subscribers for my TH-cam channel like you have. I love to share what I do and how I do it. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

    I have the same Bearcat chopper and it does a good job, keep an eye on the set screws on the pulley that drives the flails as they like to rattle loose. Also check the needle bearings for the idler sprocket that drives the auger. Parts are almost impossible to find. Some stuff like bearing you can cross the numbers on. Might be a good idea to find a parts machine. If you ever have any questions about it send me a message. Love your channel and the videos you and your family make, keep it up!

    With diesel at 4.00 to 5.00 usd a gallon it tough but, a good early spring cutting of a good young new growth pasture will help keep leaving the grass clippings in the field will definitely help with control of summer annual weeds, for summer green chop.

    Our milk production used to go way up when we started green chopping in the summer. I wonder if that flail chopper is the same as a John Deer. Looks very similar. We had 2 JD's, 1 CIH, but the best chopper we had was a New Holland. Built well and really threw the chop easily to the back of the feeder wagon.

I was always to afraid to chop my weedy fields, just round baled it wet and rolled them out with the thought that they could pick and choose some, but i get a lot of waste that way. Just wondering of your experience on that. Keep running that old equipment, keeps me from feeling alone with my old stuff!

    Al, does that flail chopper leave a clean swath? Couldn’t tell from the video. I was curious, is that the field you put the “tea” on? I don’t recall seeing
    you comment on how that experiment turned out. What did you do with the old gehl skid steer? I occasionally see some bearcat equipment for sale in the Texas panhandle. Mostly feed grinder/mixers. Came across a bearcat hammer mill at an auction one time. Went cheap but I didn’t bid on it. Was worried about parts availability. Who wound up buying out bearcat? The equipment I have seen looked well built and stout. Enjoyed the video!!

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it did a nice job. I was worried it would just knock the corn over but it chopped it up nicely.
      This field didn't have the tea, I should show that corn. We are planning on retrying the product next year now that he has a better set up and hopefully we'll get more regular rain. Not sure what happened to Bearcat brand.we still have the old skid loader, it's at a neighbors right now.

    Good video, and nice looking machines. Sure weeds may be "bad" of having in a field but reality side depending on what the crops in the field is for? Weeds are still good to have especially if crops in field is just ganna be chopped up for feed half over half of the weed species cattle eats Inerways sides weeds are still a visitation inerways. A old guy told me once "if you have a field that has quite a bit of the weed with the purplish flower that produces that sour lime dust test if you make silage out of it while it's still green cows enjoys it". But that's my opinion I guess. Inerways again good video.👍 sir.
