Also, word on the internet streets is the show-runners wanted ten episodes from this season but HBO wouldn't green-light the funds for another 2 episodes. So if you're pissed about the finale feeling unfinished, blame the CEO of Warner Discovery, David Zaslav.
Bravos and pentos are more Italian/greek lys, myr, tyrosh, and volantus are more Levant middle eastern/malta/cyrus, and the others more like Eastern Europe the balkans

The fact that you mentioned book readers might not like it gives me a possible answer. So, here's what happened: the show was already written, as usual, because you can't do pre-prod without the scripts, right? And then the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes happened. And while the SAG-AFTRA strike had no bearing because all the British cast and crew are with Equity, the WGA strike was a major factor because then Hess and Condal could not rework scripts when HBO decided they were only going to do 8 episodes, AND they cut the per-episode budget by 1/5. So now they didn't have the money to do both of the big battle sequences that were planned, AND they could not rewrite things to fit the shortened season. So they kinda got screwed by HBO when David Zaslav merged Warner and Discovery and started slashing budgets (though HIS salary, I will note, went UP). So, the Battle for the Gullet and the Fall of King's Landing are having to be pushed to next season. Now, *currently* (and I stress that word) Ryan Condal is saying that they "wanted to build anticipation" and a spokesperson for Warner Bros Discovery said that the decision to cut from 10 episodes to 8 was "driven by the story." However, earlier last year, writer producer Sara Hess said that moving from 10 episodes to 8 "wasn't our decision." Evidently, the company has told her to shut up about it since then and Condal handles all the interviews, and he is selling the company line. Since a LOT of streaming services are moving to the 8 episode model, I'm personally more inclined to believe Hess.
I totally love the journey you guys have gone through this season. I know it started out let’s say slow, but I know you guys were intrigued of where it could go to end up on this final episode and you guys are completely invested on what is about to happen next season so I am very glad you guys enjoyed the journey.
I truly love the ending shots with Rhaenyra standing with all of the scrolls of her history weighing down on her and then shooting to Alicent with the open sky wanting to be free. Truly amazing show! Can’t wait for season 3. Great Reaction! ✨🖤
The visual storytelling at the end with the shots of Rhaenyra and Alicent was immaculate 🤌🏻 -Rhaenyra boxed in, bearing the weight of her family’s burden and history -Alicent free, out in the open, gone from the prison with a window that she had built for herself (throwback to Rhaenys in S1) Also, big shoutout to Olivia Cooke for choosing to bite her nails in that final scene. Huge callback to young Alicent who made that a habit under the pressure from her father and her position at court. Really great stuff Glad that you guys enjoyed this more than S1….hopefully you guys react to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next year!
Yep, exactly all of this! Also at the beginning of the season Rhaenyra was always framed in huge open areas and Alicent was framed between pillars. So they’ve swapped. Incredible subtle visual storytelling.

Rhaenyra has been burdened by the crown and the history from the first episode of season 1 when she was named heir. That is her entire story.

The first scene takes place somewhere in Tyrosh, one of the free cities of Essos, a huge continent that is sort of the equivalent of the Mediterranean as well as Asia of our world. Tyroshi people are also known for dying their hair in extravagant colors so that’s why you see some pirates with blue, green, or red hair.
Alot of people make the mistake I'm thinking GOT is about blood sex and spectical. "The human Heart in conflict with itself is the only thing worth writing about" -GRRM. that is the philosophy of ASOIAF. The setting and the dragons are just furniture in the scene

I have come to understand what type of genre you enjoy from watching you on different channels and how you feel about different things what I am happy is that you gave us a try and the fact that you feel like it’s not really my thing but you appreciate what they’re trying to do and it’s not bad. So coming from you, Hector and I know you have a high bar for stuff that you like it is very nice to see that they have written a show that at least engages you to a certain point. I would like to add that I am glad that they have pre-planned only for four seasons. I know with the original Game of Thrones it was kind of open ended to a certain degree and they were just milking it for as much as they can, but at the same time I feel that they should’ve really preplanned and ending to it because season is pretty long, especially for this type of show, this specific type of show. I think they could’ve done it covering up to whatever book he had done and then end the show at that point.
Helena is considered touched with power. Through out the whole show she is always saying things that sound like nothing but always holds some premonition of the future. So its really cool to see her connect with Daemon in that way.
I do feel bad for the showrunners and writers getting hate from the internet when they planned for 10 episodes, including a final battle, but due to budget and some other stuff had to quickly rewrite for 8 episodes. I love the slow pacing but I get why some wouldn't. Especially in a time where this many shows get cancelled before they are done. So I'm glad they could confirm 4 seasons shortly after.
Hector, Essos and the vast land sort of goes all the way from say Central Europe ala Mediterranean, to the Middle East and then Eastern Asia, for example Yi Ti is one of the most eastern counties and that’s sort of the equivalent of China in the books
This episode would be a 9.5 for me as anything but a finale. But-apparently-they'd spent like 8 months writing a 10-episode arc and were almost to production when cost cuts from the WBD merger were confirmed; they could only have 8 episodes and a lot less cgi. Or so say the rumors. The ceo said it was always going to be 8 eps, some of the writers said no, it was 10. I lean towards believing the writers myself. I can 100% see this finale being followed by a battle, then aftermath and setup for S3 in eps 9-10
Essos is a melting pot of different races, atp in time Essos has mixed so much that anyone can be anyone, their are ways to tell them apart though but that is ASOIAF lore. The only people who stick out more are the Valryian descendants. Where they met with the Tyroshi merchant princes' is the Stepstones.
Would love to see you tackle GOT. If you like stories with rich lore and world building, it’s a good one to chew on. Some of the vision Daemon saw in this episode would hold more meaning with a GOT background. Thanks for an enjoyable reaction series!!!🎉
I went ballistic when I saw the white walkers and Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons herself in this show. I lost it. It confirms she’s the prince who was promised.Why else show her in connection to the white walkers. Daemon thinks it possibly could be their daughter in the future which is why Rhaeynra must be Queen. That’s why he bends the knee. He knew his ambition was nothing compared to the greater scheme of things, the weight of walkers and prophecy. Until this episode he was driven by his own personal ambitions. Side quests. But it all led up to that moment and it was great. It finally clicked to him he was a part of something greater than himself. So he bent the knee. Became the hype man about serving Queen Rhaenyra until death. Quite the interesting man. He’s GRRM’s favorite character. Love love love Queen Rhaenyra. I’m diehard team black. Except Haelena . She’s too innocent. Most of the greens can go to hell. Look at Aemond. He gets scared, turns Vhagar away from Rhaenyra and her seven dragons lying in wait. He gets pissed off realizing Rhaenyra had new dragonriders. So being the bully and psychopath he is and burns a fishing town to the ground in anger. Boo hoo. Your sister has enough dragons to toast you which she hasn’t yet, she is being merciful with her use of the dragons. Anyway, he doesn’t care and out of anger he burns a town to the ground for no reason other than he could. Why should he care about the lords and ladies, smallfolk living tjere. He’s a loose canon with a medieval nuclear weapon at his command. Which he used to devastating effect by burning the town to the ground. I have much more colorful language to describe this man but imma be civil. He’s a psychopath. Pure and simple. The worst of the worst of personality disorders antisocial personality disorder to be precise but there’s a well documented subsection about psychopaths. They’re rare and scary as all heck. Aemond is a psychopath with a medieval nuclear weapon, not just any nuke like in Oppenheimer. But a thermonuclear, Tzar bomba big. At his command. He could if he wanted to lay waste to Westeros in a month if that’s all he did day in, day out. It wouldn’t matter, he doesn’t care about other or people. Just himself and his position of power.
Warner Bros. cut their budget without warning in anticipation of the Writers Strike. The last two episodes were very battle heavy and the writers weren't given enough time to rework those episodes. So they just ended it where episode 8 ended. The next tow episodes will be brought over into next season and instead of ending with season 3, as originally planned, they will end with season 4 to give the show a proper ending. So the episode ending so abruptly isn't thier fault. Its yet again another reason why Zaslov sucks.
To Hector’s point this isn’t a daytime soap opera that goes on forever and ever ever ever re-telling the same story plots every few years like every show really should have a beginning and an end. Because to be honest with you, you could always come back to it later down the line because you leave people wanting more
I've read all the books, I am fine with the season and the show and the changes they have made to the story. a few of the choices with teh show are kind of dumb, but overall the show is good and the story is going to be absolutely crazy the further it progresses. I even think that some of the changes made are going to make the "craziness" even worse / more effective than the book.
No, Essos is not the Middle East. If Westeros is England (for example) Essos is the rest of the world, basically, including the rest of Europe and Asia. All kinds of people there.
Daemon just looks disheveled at the end of the episode. He’s seen the future and exactly how his life and things play out. He’s not in control of anything any longer.
Okay some thoughts about this season. First I’m really happy they introduced Jeyne Arryn (Rhaenyra’s cousin) this season. She’s one of the few gay female characters from the books, although sadly I don’t know if they kept her sexual orientation in the show or not. Although I do find it interesting they made Sharako Lohar a gay woman (in the book he’s actually a man) and I thought it was funny how we find out she has no interest or attraction in men and therefore she just wants to use Tyland Lannister as a sperm donor for her wives. lol! I did hate how Alicent was portrayed this season it made no sense to her character from either the book or from last season. This woman would fight tooth and nail for her children and now for her to give up her sons was quite a choice by the showrunners. I’m hoping season 3 will give us more of a reason for her choices. Someone gave a theory that she might be tricking Rhaenyra. I also liked finding out that Hugh Hammer is the bastard son of Princess Saera Targaryen (the princess who became a prostitute from the book) which would make him a bastard cousin of Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenys, and Aemma Arryn. Overall I enjoyed the season but I’m disappointed with how it ended. Hopefully next season will be better.

I hope Warner Bro has money to really flex they are broke as a joke. Season 3 is gonna hurt y’all’s feelings for sure. Be ready for that. This Season was pretty good. Dunk & Egg is the next series in the GOT universe. I’d love to see you guys react to the original series, however I’m hesitant Hector will be able to get through it. GOT is extremely rough, and I remember having to take breaks after certain episodes. There’s a lot more sexual violence as well, so it’ll be hard to edit for TH-cam. But you know I’ll be watching either way. Fingers crossed Star Trek will be somewhere down the road 😊
Keep in mind this show started filming like a week after the writers strike. Nobody on set for the entirety of filming, no revisions/edits with the writers took place.
It's funny how much people ignore the rest of the family when they criticize Alicent for her parenting. Viserys was their father, Otto is their grandfather, Daemon is their uncle, Rhaenyra is their older sister, and Rhaenys was their great aunt(I think). Alicent was like 14 and had no Mother of her own to guide her and by the time she matured enough to try, it was too late.
Rhaenyra is younger than Alicent, Deamond was Exiled from Kings Landing and wouldn't help regardless and Rhaenys live on Driftmark with her own family and she had lots and lots of wet nurses , nannys , and so forth.
So like I didn’t really follow all the backstory where like where each book was a season and then when they got to the point where they caught up to his books and he hadn’t actually finished everything with the box prior to the end of the seasonS. But I will say this I think they should have ended it to be honest and then if he had still one more book to finish the story to wrap up everything to then later, come back and do like a follow up season. Now I know and I understand production wise that is probably pretty ridiculous since how expensive I’m sure it was and to have to shut everything down and then later to do it all over again, but I would still say they should have done it because what happened was I believe and again I really didn’t follow a lot because I just had to drop out of following everything things just kind of dragging out after a certain point and I really hate any show that drags itself out longer than it should.

I can tie this show into DC comics. Sad thing is since Warner brothers is almost bankrupt, they are cutting costs everywhere. Including this show. It was supposed to be 10 episodes, but with the strikes and its bankruptcy situation, they told the show runners they’re cutting budget and only doing 8 episodes . As a book reader and knowing what’s about to happen, we as viewers were robbed of an EPIC EPIC season finale.

No, it’s not part of Alicent’s plan to get Aegon out. Nobody talks or listens to Alicent. They never have. She’s being her usual basic-bitch, clueless self making this promise to Rhaenyra. And Bestie is falling for it. What it DOES mean is that when Rhaenyra arrives, Alicent will LOOK like she lied and tricked her. And then she’ll probably get killed.
It really feels like in the transition from network TV to streaming writers have lost the art of episodic storytelling, the structure and pacing of a lot of shows lately has left a lot to be desired. And 8 or 10 episodes every two years feels crazy to me

The first scene takes place somewhere in Tyrosh, one of the free cities of Essos, a huge continent that is sort of the equivalent of the Mediterranean as well as Asia of our world. Tyroshi people are also known for dying their hair in extravagant colors so that’s why you see some pirates with blue, green, or red hair.

I have come to understand what type of genre you enjoy from watching you on different channels and how you feel about different things what I am happy is that you gave us a try and the fact that you feel like it’s not really my thing but you appreciate what they’re trying to do and it’s not bad. So coming from you, Hector and I know you have a high bar for stuff that you like it is very nice to see that they have written a show that at least engages you to a certain point. I would like to add that I am glad that they have pre-planned only for four seasons. I know with the original Game of Thrones it was kind of open ended to a certain degree and they were just milking it for as much as they can, but at the same time I feel that they should’ve really preplanned and ending to it because season is pretty long, especially for this type of show, this specific type of show. I think they could’ve done it covering up to whatever book he had done and then end the show at that point.
Helena is considered touched with power. Through out the whole show she is always saying things that sound like nothing but always holds some premonition of the future. So its really cool to see her connect with Daemon in that way.
I do feel bad for the showrunners and writers getting hate from the internet when they planned for 10 episodes, including a final battle, but due to budget and some other stuff had to quickly rewrite for 8 episodes. I love the slow pacing but I get why some wouldn't. Especially in a time where this many shows get cancelled before they are done. So I'm glad they could confirm 4 seasons shortly after.

Hector, Essos and the vast land sort of goes all the way from say Central Europe ala Mediterranean, to the Middle East and then Eastern Asia, for example Yi Ti is one of the most eastern counties and that’s sort of the equivalent of China in the books
This episode would be a 9.5 for me as anything but a finale. But-apparently-they'd spent like 8 months writing a 10-episode arc and were almost to production when cost cuts from the WBD merger were confirmed; they could only have 8 episodes and a lot less cgi. Or so say the rumors. The ceo said it was always going to be 8 eps, some of the writers said no, it was 10. I lean towards believing the writers myself. I can 100% see this finale being followed by a battle, then aftermath and setup for S3 in eps 9-10
Essos is a melting pot of different races, atp in time Essos has mixed so much that anyone can be anyone, their are ways to tell them apart though but that is ASOIAF lore. The only people who stick out more are the Valryian descendants. Where they met with the Tyroshi merchant princes' is the Stepstones.

Loved this season and enjoyed the finale
I went ballistic when I saw the white walkers and Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons herself in this show. I lost it. It confirms she’s the prince who was promised.Why else show her in connection to the white walkers. Daemon thinks it possibly could be their daughter in the future which is why Rhaeynra must be Queen. That’s why he bends the knee. He knew his ambition was nothing compared to the greater scheme of things, the weight of walkers and prophecy. Until this episode he was driven by his own personal ambitions. Side quests. But it all led up to that moment and it was great. It finally clicked to him he was a part of something greater than himself. So he bent the knee. Became the hype man about serving Queen Rhaenyra until death. Quite the interesting man. He’s GRRM’s favorite character.
Love love love Queen Rhaenyra. I’m diehard team black. Except Haelena . She’s too innocent. Most of the greens can go to hell. Look at Aemond. He gets scared, turns Vhagar away from Rhaenyra and her seven dragons lying in wait. He gets pissed off realizing Rhaenyra had new dragonriders. So being the bully and psychopath he is and burns a fishing town to the ground in anger. Boo hoo. Your sister has enough dragons to toast you which she hasn’t yet, she is being merciful with her use of the dragons. Anyway, he doesn’t care and out of anger he burns a town to the ground for no reason other than he could. Why should he care about the lords and ladies, smallfolk living tjere. He’s a loose canon with a medieval nuclear weapon at his command. Which he used to devastating effect by burning the town to the ground. I have much more colorful language to describe this man but imma be civil. He’s a psychopath. Pure and simple. The worst of the worst of personality disorders antisocial personality disorder to be precise but there’s a well documented subsection about psychopaths. They’re rare and scary as all heck. Aemond is a psychopath with a medieval nuclear weapon, not just any nuke like in Oppenheimer. But a thermonuclear, Tzar bomba big. At his command. He could if he wanted to lay waste to Westeros in a month if that’s all he did day in, day out. It wouldn’t matter, he doesn’t care about other or people. Just himself and his position of power.
After all the bad reviews this episode ain’t even half as bad as the last got episode.
Warner Bros. cut their budget without warning in anticipation of the Writers Strike. The last two episodes were very battle heavy and the writers weren't given enough time to rework those episodes. So they just ended it where episode 8 ended. The next tow episodes will be brought over into next season and instead of ending with season 3, as originally planned, they will end with season 4 to give the show a proper ending. So the episode ending so abruptly isn't thier fault. Its yet again another reason why Zaslov sucks.
To Hector’s point this isn’t a daytime soap opera that goes on forever and ever ever ever re-telling the same story plots every few years like every show really should have a beginning and an end. Because to be honest with you, you could always come back to it later down the line because you leave people wanting more

I've read all the books, I am fine with the season and the show and the changes they have made to the story. a few of the choices with teh show are kind of dumb, but overall the show is good and the story is going to be absolutely crazy the further it progresses. I even think that some of the changes made are going to make the "craziness" even worse / more effective than the book.
No, Essos is not the Middle East. If Westeros is England (for example) Essos is the rest of the world, basically, including the rest of Europe and Asia. All kinds of people there.
Daemon just looks disheveled at the end of the episode. He’s seen the future and exactly how his life and things play out. He’s not in control of anything any longer.
Please do GOT. I think you all will really like it. It’s just straight up great story telling.
Okay some thoughts about this season. First I’m really happy they introduced Jeyne Arryn (Rhaenyra’s cousin) this season. She’s one of the few gay female characters from the books, although sadly I don’t know if they kept her sexual orientation in the show or not. Although I do find it interesting they made Sharako Lohar a gay woman (in the book he’s actually a man) and I thought it was funny how we find out she has no interest or attraction in men and therefore she just wants to use Tyland Lannister as a sperm donor for her wives. lol!
I did hate how Alicent was portrayed this season it made no sense to her character from either the book or from last season. This woman would fight tooth and nail for her children and now for her to give up her sons was quite a choice by the showrunners. I’m hoping season 3 will give us more of a reason for her choices. Someone gave a theory that she might be tricking Rhaenyra. I also liked finding out that Hugh Hammer is the bastard son of Princess Saera Targaryen (the princess who became a prostitute from the book) which would make him a bastard cousin of Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenys, and Aemma Arryn. Overall I enjoyed the season but I’m disappointed with how it ended. Hopefully next season will be better.

Book person. I appreciate your commentary this season. We didn’t have to through histrionics with people going overboard with why they hate the show. I hope Warner Bro has money to really flex they are broke as a joke. Season 3 is gonna hurt y’all’s feelings for sure. Be ready for that. This Season was pretty good. Dunk & Egg is the next series in the GOT universe. I’d love to see you guys react to the original series, however I’m hesitant Hector will be able to get through it. GOT is extremely rough, and I remember having to take breaks after certain episodes. There’s a lot more sexual violence as well, so it’ll be hard to edit for TH-cam. But you know I’ll be watching either way. Fingers crossed Star Trek will be somewhere down the road 😊

It's funny how much people ignore the rest of the family when they criticize Alicent for her parenting. Viserys was their father, Otto is their grandfather, Daemon is their uncle, Rhaenyra is their older sister, and Rhaenys was their great aunt(I think). Alicent was like 14 and had no Mother of her own to guide her and by the time she matured enough to try, it was too late.
Rhaenyra is younger than Alicent, Deamond was Exiled from Kings Landing and wouldn't help regardless and Rhaenys live on Driftmark with her own family and she had lots and lots of wet nurses , nannys , and so forth.
So like I didn’t really follow all the backstory where like where each book was a season and then when they got to the point where they caught up to his books and he hadn’t actually finished everything with the box prior to the end of the seasonS. But I will say this I think they should have ended it to be honest and then if he had still one more book to finish the story to wrap up everything to then later, come back and do like a follow up season. Now I know and I understand production wise that is probably pretty ridiculous since how expensive I’m sure it was and to have to shut everything down and then later to do it all over again, but I would still say they should have done it because what happened was I believe and again I really didn’t follow a lot because I just had to drop out of following everything things just kind of dragging out after a certain point and I really hate any show that drags itself out longer than it should.
Essos have elements from Europe and the Middle East in the west, and to the east and much more Asia.

I can tie this show into DC comics. Sad thing is since Warner brothers is almost bankrupt, they are cutting costs everywhere. Including this show. It was supposed to be 10 episodes, but with the strikes and its bankruptcy situation, they told the show runners they’re cutting budget and only doing 8 episodes . As a book reader and knowing what’s about to happen, we as viewers were robbed of an EPIC EPIC season finale.

No, it’s not part of Alicent’s plan to get Aegon out. Nobody talks or listens to Alicent. They never have. She’s being her usual basic-bitch, clueless self making this promise to Rhaenyra. And Bestie is falling for it.

It really feels like in the transition from network TV to streaming writers have lost the art of episodic storytelling, the structure and pacing of a lot of shows lately has left a lot to be desired. And 8 or 10 episodes every two years feels crazy to me
Does anyone else feel a little unsatisfied with this finale? There was just a lot of set up and a lot of dialogue. I was just expecting a little more from a finale and not just a preview for next season. They could’ve at least put a cliffhanger. Lol.

This was supposed to be 10 episodes but HBO had budget cuts and the writers strike stopped it. So the pushed the big battle till next season because they didn't want to not do it justice. There's certain scenes from the season two trailers that didn't even get shown. Unfortunately.

First four episodes were really good and paced well but it just kinda went stale after that and repetitive.
Man what a terrible finale. This whole season we dragged our feet and the things that should've been accomplished earlier happened in THE FINALE. Like a 90 min trailer for season 3. Not better than s1 at all
