I Spent $200 on Retail MTG - Will I Make It Back?

- Purchase majority from various Walmart locations but also snuck in a buy from Meijers retail. I didn't think this was the smartest thing to do with $200 but many of us have made similar decisions. The question is, how dumb was this decision or am I a genius!?

The amount of packaging for one booster is astonishing
When the collector packs were the same size as draft packs we'd get the target to sell them to us for draft pack prices. Cause "how much for one pack??? It said 4.95" and they'd be like "that make perfect sense" we knew that wouldn't last

Tip: If you’re *only* looking for value, only buy SET Boosters, not Draft Boosters.
If you’re itching to crack open any packs, lower your expectations as Draft Boosters are meant to just play Draft.
This comment should be top of the list!! Set boosters are pretty much watered down Double Masters, but with 1/3 of the price and 1/3 of the chance. Set boosters are the way to go! I only buy draft boosters for the older expansions where set boosters weren’t available.
That Vorinclex made my day for you, man! The Ikoria commander deck is decent, too. The rest, though, was tough to watch lol.
I would love to see you open old collections - I know financially it's not the best, but it would be great to see if there are any gems out there lurking in collections
there are, without a doubt.... 10 years ago it was easy pickings....nowadays, it's getting harder and harder....
Killer cosplay. On scute swarm level cards. Imagine getting extra of them randomly popping off from the beginning. I might need to buy a play set of this card for my lotus cobra/scute swarm deck.
I wish I could like all your videos, and triple like all your videos where you price cards. (Battles with cards priced (common uncommon over a dollar ect)

I remember when Black Hole Sun won best rock song. Then at a high school dance I was dancing with my soon to be girlfriend all night only for her to go to the rest room BHS started playing and in shock I saw the dance floor slow dancing to it. Then some chick grabbed me and started slow dancing with me I was like a deer in headlights. Still to this day it Wired’s me out😄 keep up the great videos Loving them.

I bought a box of SoC, Neon Dynasty & Phyrexia AWBO was my best with 10 mythics, previous had 8 and previous before had 8. Fun pulls but nothing earth shattering.

Wish my Walmart stocked more than..... LoTR collector packs. That sold out within 20min of hitting the shelf lol. And they were priced over TCG so idk what is happening.

That's one of the main reasons I quit playing standard personally, a lot of keeping up with cards and spending all this money on them just to play maybe once every FNM.

We do not play Standard at my LGS. We do draft at FNM, we play Commander when we're just hanging out, and Pioneer on Saturdays(usually the turnout is pretty good for pioneer given the small size of my area)
Walmart and Target aren't the ones stocking the shelves with cards, and they aren't the ones who makes the profit

When it comes to your videos, for me they are always kinda fun to watch. Also when it comes to opening packs it's all just a gamble, for me the big question as a modern player I always ask myself why do I try to open the packs to get the cards I want when there are some powerful cards in previous sets that go for a lot lower in price? Yeah when it comes to the price guide for cards I find it all kinda weird, it could be the same card but at different prices for the sets. Or the card store doesn't buy the cards for the price might drop but they want you to buy the card while it's at a higher price. When it comes to commander yeah card store really push it, I don't play there is nothing on the game that I enjoy. The guys still were like come on got to try it nope peer pressure does not affect me. On the opening packs, I don't know how it happens but prerelease kits I do so well, I sold some cards got a little more than I thought and the card store did card for card kinda deal which got me more which I was happy about so I got two prerelease kits, in one kit got a mondrake a hive that artifact creature a Tyvar Kaya which I was kinda happy about, for the other one pulled one mondrake the rest was eh. So never really know how the pack opening will go. If I was to sell the cards back would I get my money back, that's when the player part and collector part come into play. How many cards actually hold their value after the reprints or how they get graded or by who which card store you sell them to. The price part is kinda weird. Anyways enjoyed the opening of the packs have fun.
I bought a box of dominaria remastered.... all I got is a few incubators... didn't make 80$ back on my 420$ (Canadian money)
Few times I've heard you mention over printing. I don't think there is such a thing. Print the crap out of these cards!! They should all be available for everyone to pick up instead of cardboard costing $20+ for 1 card.

I tried looking for some all will be one earlier today. Completely sold out at the Walmart I went to.
I asked an employee and he said two guys came earlier in the week and bought all they had of the set.
They did have a couple dominaria remastered, so that was nice I suppose.
The two collectors boxes where not $200 the two alone?
I play MTG Arena standard casually and I think Phyrexia is an unfun set to play and play against.
How much are those Commander cubes? Never seen them before

Unfinity is the biggest waste of money especially retail packs I literally opened hundreds of packs chasing them shock lands only to get one extended art breeding pool

I bought the big Phyrexian collector booster box. What a bunch of garbage… low low pulls. I don’t think it even cleared $40.

Standard is dead in paper because of arena. The current standard format is actually pretty great and well balanced. The issue on price isnt power, it's the amount of printing and the fact that every card basically has a prettier version.
