Scout and Tucker are having the time of their young lives! They never knew that life could be this GOOD... Toys, treats, older brothers to learn from and to play with. And most of all, a truly loving home to BELONG to. Puppies are so challenging and it will continue to be a juggling act for a bit. Then one day, you will look back and smile when everyone is integrated and one big happy pack of precious pups ❤ Hang in there for now and just realize what a wonderful difference you have made for these 2 babies. You are truly amazing! I read something that said... "The dogs that you love today were sent by the dogs that you loved yesterday"

These 2 littles were given a new life! In a video they are playing in their area and you can tell they are happy! I am assuming they never had toys to play with and may not have had any kind of freedom in their 6 months. You gave them freedom ,warmth ,security ,food on a schedule ,and toys! Yes toys because they deserve to be able to play! Tucker and Scout are the happiest they have ever been ! I was thrilled to see you got 2 new additions! Their youth and vigor is going to help the others and the elders will teach them the pack order! They are so lucky that you chose them!

As I get older a puppy is more difficult. I had a 5 year old pass away almost 2 years ago and got a puppy. I am 65 and it was more than I remembered. So I have a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old now. The 1 1/2 year old is still very, very active. He his always jumping and I am getting older and I agree winter is making it more difficult. Putting on the coat, boots, hat everytime he lets me know he wants to go out. Sometimes he just wants to go out to go out. This will be my last dogs. These pups will calm down once the get in the groove. They are so cute and you have been through a lot. Bless you for taking them in. These little guys are just so happy to have space. Winter is just not fun. I look forward to warmer days.

Kim I just love puppies!! I know they are a handful but I just love the puppy fun and play times!! And their so cute and loving!! Be careful not to give them treats that the middles can pop out because my other dog when a puppy got it stuck in her throat and almost was fatal !! I had to put my fingers down her throat and hope for the best!! You don't want that to happen!! 😮 Sending love and blessings!! ❤ Carolyn

Pig’s ears are great for chewing pups. 🐶 They are teething just like Bennett 😮😮😮. Balls with treats that pop out as the puppies play with the balls are a great idea. My 3 year old cockapoo Sandy has a ball that likes up. She loves to chew on it, it’s soft and it bounces funny and away from her. She loves to chase it and will play by herself for hours with that ball and other toys. She has keys and other toys similar to what a baby chews on.

Those puppies remind me so much of Percy! LOL He is a hellion too. He STILL tries to chew things he's not supposed to and he's 17 months old!! I asked him just this morning if he was ever going to grow up!! Olivia is wanting us to get another doxie puppy (we're all missing our dachshunds). I told her, I just don't have it in me to take on another puppy....not as long as Percy is still being, well.....Percy. 🤣 I can't imagine having 2 Percy's at the same time. No wonder you're a little overwhelmed. I'd be a LOT overwhelmed!

Glad Milo is doing better. The pup are doing better than my rescue was and he was a much worse case. He was so skiddish. The lady that rescued him and his two brothers definetly saved their lives. He took about 6 months to really come around. Scout reminds me so much of my other dog especially in the face when he was that age. They are to cute.

Many times I thought what have I done? But she's 11 and the sweetest girl. I am completely smitten with Scout and Tucker. Puppies are overwhelming. My Cairn Terrier was first and an absolute pistol (I say Cairn but don't want people to think I carry a large pile of rocks around with me 😅). My Schnauzer was second and an absolute breeze because my Cairn took one look at him and looked at me and I swear she sealed "Oh Mama, you got me the best thing ever. I never even hoped for something this wonderful." And she took over.) I'm not saying he wasn't a people oriented dog, but she being a 3 year old terrierist was full of energy and could run him ragged. 😂.

I have a friend that just adopted 2 puppy mill breeding males. They too were not neutered yet. They were trying to mark their surroundings. I wonder if this is something you are dealing with and whether this will improve after they are neutered.
I haven't raised a puppy in a long time as my recent dogs were all rescued older, but when I did have a puppy, I used tabasco sauce as a chew deterrent. My puppy like to play tug-o-war with drapes, so the corner that she pulled, I placed a piece of packing tape which I spread a small amount of tabasco sauce on. I think it took one pull for her to learn this was a "no no." She also liked shoestrings. So I put tabasco on the shoestrings. Same result -- quickly learned this was a "no no." I think this technique could be used around the table in your entryway.
I was thinking my next dog would be a puppy. Your experience shows me that I am too old for this. LOL. You are doing great, and Scout and Tucker sure are cutie patooties!

Our Winston was also 6 months when we got him and hadn't had the opportunity to be a puppy where he was. He lived 24/7 in a crate the size of the crates that you have along with 3 other dogs... in the same crate. He was wet with urine and had clearly been eating poo. The smell on the drive home was NOT pleasant but we love him so much and we're so happy that he's happy now. You are a blessing to these pups... all of them! ❤

You are such a kind hearted mommy. Those 2 pups have been given a longer leash on life because of you. You will do just fine, you always do, you have a wonderful laugh, and you take such good care of your boys. They are just babies, so that energy is endless, understand all too well. I would let ours run and run and run and bark and play and chase in the evening before bed, it helps when they’re younger. You’re doing just fine, and things will work out. At least you have a big backyard for all of the boys to run around in, even with winter snow in abundance. Praying for all to be well. Thank you again, for sharing with us

Also, I think it’s wonderful that you guys have these two new little dogs. I think it’s amazing that you would go out of your way to do something like that if I was in a different situation I would do the same thing but I think I’m a one dog person Because I feel like if I had another dog be too much. I’m totally blind and it’s hard enough to do what I have to do every day with one dog let alone multiples, but that’s awesome for you and for your new babies.

It may not seem like it, but it’s probably a good thing you got 2 because there’s quite a large age difference between them and your next older dogs, and they would probably be a little overwhelming for the older dogs if there was only one of them. This way, they’re keeping each other busy, and giving the older dogs a break. It is harder when they’ve been confined and probably not let out when they needed to go out, but Schnauzers are smart, and I believe they’ll catch on quickly because they’ll learn from the others. Schnauzers are also generally very eager to please and very upset if they think you’re mad at them. That also makes it easier. I’ve never gotten one older than 7 -8 weeks old. I think they learn faster when they’ve haven’t formed other habits. The hardest time we had house training a schnauzer was one that we got from a pet store (we just couldn’t stand seeing him sitting in that little bitty cage crying for someone to get him out). He’d had gotten used to peeing where he lived, which is something most dogs don’t do (given a choice anyway). That made it harder to house train him, but he did learn. It just took a little longer, but he figured it out, and he was such a sweet, sweet guy. I always believed he’d been taken from his mother way too soon. He just couldn’t get enough loving and would actually “hug” anyone he could get next to.

Your little ones are doing great and you are to. Just think when that little grand baby starts cruising around. They are cuties. You do positive reinforcement,I do to. You get farther along and they seem to trust you and happier ,not scared. They catch on pretty well. Our first little girl Molly havanese on her baby gate, had the plastic gate was home for about two hours bit a hole out and an entry like yours ,she greeted us at the door. I thought the gate was up wrong. She was so proud of herself. Made sure didn’t eat the pieces, as was scared she swallowed some. But didn’t. She was happy and never bothered it again. Like having little toddlers for a short time. Breath. 🐶🫶🏻😊🙋‍♀️

What about spraying some "bitter apple" they usually don't like the taste of that--they are teething really bad right now--they're puppies and they'll settle down. Scout is a mini Milo! 🥰

The older ones will help with teaching and training too. Hang in there, Kim! We just are at a year with our added puppy, Finn. We got him for my other puppy, Tucker who is a year older. Schnauzers are so smart. You got this! Routing for you!📣❤

It's so easy to forget how much energy young dogs have and what you should keep safe so that it doesn't get chewed on. Especially if you have older dogs who of course don't do that anymore and are simply calmer due to their age. When I brought my dog Oskar home, he was eight or nine weeks old and suddenly I was busy around the clock. It was summer, so we were outside a lot anyway and only had two accidents in the house, which I was very proud of, but it was also really tiring. So like you, I thought after a few days that I was a bit overwhelmed. It's certainly a big change, but these two will bring so much joy and sunshine to the family. Hang in there 😉❣️

We got our schnauzer puppies at 4 mos old in the fall and it was a long winter but they eventually calmed down and figured out the potty schedule. It will get easier!!! They still love to chew on things after 2 years but usually not while we are home. Never a dull moment for sure. Tucker and scout are so cute! The older boys will show them the way. Take care!

Offering unsolicited advice so I hope that’s ok, but maybe get some snuffle mats and beginner puzzles if they eat dry kibble. Use those for meals and it will help tire out their minds as they work to get their food. I have several and they’re great for dogs at all ages. Chewy and Amazon have lots to choose from. Puppies are definitely challenging so I can only imagine having 2. I think it’s great that you and your husband rescued them from a bad situation.

It must seem like a wonderland to the puppies being able to play inthe yard, etc that's the thing with puppies isn't it the chewing and their natural curiosity wanting them to chew and pull and explore everything, bless them and all the boys they are lovely

It’s so important to start training puppies when they’re small and young and unfortunately these poor dogs didn’t get that quality love and time/training that they deserve to have when they were younger and so now unfortunately they have to learn all these things now at six months old and it’s going to take a little time But they will be molded into the most beautiful wonderful well trained dogs. They are obviously a product of their past environment to no fault of their own. What pains me is knowing that they were forced to be in very small areas and now they are yet again put behind a baby that is very tiny. I know you are making changes for that as we speak. It’s obvious that you have the ability and love to do this for them so don’t be so hard on yourself and know that in time you will look back and see what a wonderful job you did for these two. Hang in there. Lol

They'll settle down, and the pack will train them and show them how to behave. They sound like at my house when I get home, and I only have two. 😂 I also had a hard time training my Daisy because I got her in winter, and she didn't like the cold either. Everything will be okay. ❤❤️❤️

I certainly understand. I was feeling so overwhelmed but now I cam see how much Finn is good for Pepper. Can see a big change in ber behavior. However, I am going back to housebreaking training due to peeing in house. They chew up every toy, bone. & everything else they can. They love to rip up papers. They are crated or in a kennel when I leave. They love them though. I am not sure still at aged 1 and 8 months, 1 and 4 months what I should do. Every dog is different in tbeir training of course. Hang in there and I will too!

I had the same experience Kim. I previously had 2 schnauzers and they had both passed away by 2014. So in 2022 I decided it was time to get another dog. I got 2 puppies (brother/sister) at the same at 2 months old. It was an extremely different experience, especially getting 2 at once. One would pick up the other bad habits and vice versa. Plus I'm single and had to work so it made training them harder. They are 2 1/2 years old now and have finally settled down. Only issue is their barking. I'm in a townhouse with high ceilings so the loud barking is even louder. They bark at animals and some commercials on the TV! It will get easier and you're giving them an awesome life so congratulations🎉

It may be a pain but, you should probably just move the whole cabinet out of the front entryway. Not only would they not be able to chew on it, it will also be more protected from urine accidents and any spills if they knock their water dish over through playing.

Hang in there Kim! They’re in the most difficult age now. And because they’re siblings or have been together for almost 6 months they will act out and try you out and their boundaries. I had a boy and a girl from the same litter and it was like that. But with different puppy from different place it was different and easier. I also think they are just happy to get a great home and they’re not trained to do your way. But be persistent and maybe little more discipline wont be a bad thing with these two little “ maniacs “ like you called them😂❤
