pretty sure i havent changed settings since this footage was shot. scene file is currently sitting on F1 (stock, no special changes) and i didn't really use anything LUT wise, i color graded by hand.
@@Mitch2GNAR @babygang can you tell us more about the color grading process? What program, and what is the secret sauce touch you’ve come up with? Cause the hvx is very picky about altering its contrast
@@waltervargas57 i was able to get this output by utilizing a couple in-camera habits along with a piece of software called After Effects by Adobe. my workflow with the camera: so far i haven't shot anything outside of the default F1 scene file and no color tweaks have been made from what i understand to be the stock settings. i found using the manual IRIS dial, the IRIS button, and the ND filters (9 and 11 respectfully in the cameras manual, page 13) very much help with making sure there isn't too much or too little light in my shots. i also find the ND filter switch helps balance the blue/orange difference that occurs when shooting inside or outside shots. using these tools together will typically yield a nice looking shot with really washed out colors. thats where the software comes in my workflow with After Effects: my color grading effects for clips actually aren't particularly complicated. i largely use these four color effects: - vibrance - brightness / contrast - levels - hue/saturation the settings you use will definitely depend on the nature of your shot, but using these four color effects has helped me grade just about anything i shoot on this camera. because After Effects behaves very similarly to photoshop, I also use solid color layers that i blend into the shot to punctuate certain colors, like shadows and highlights. if its all a little too specific i wouldn't mind making some sort of break down video for all this. i love this camera and have been very pleased with the output im getting and like you said im not really noticing many other people on youtube getting the same look. happy to hear your thoughts! thanks again for the good words.
yo so this is simply amazing man been trying to find the answer for this question all day. How do you convert your video to digital I know there are 100 ways some look better than others some more expensive but you got a healthy clear look fam but still vintage. so would love to know your process on transfer. and also whs the using the p2 card or the mini dv?
i purely shoot in digital straight to p2 cards at the moment. i want to experiment with tape once i can get some, but as of now the camera shoots directly to digital and i transfer the files to the computer via usb. im pretty sure my settings are for recording are 1080i at 60i. the vintage look is just kind of the magic of this camera as far as i can tell. its like some weird hybrid between film and digital when graded properly which is why i really like it. i still intend to do tutorials on my color grading ive just been busy. hope this helps! ill try to answer any other questions if you got em

Can the camera shoot natively in 4:3 or did you crop the footage?
