@buddy1065 LOVE it! Sorry about the crash, but happy you got the crashproofing! We''re about to load up the video of our Crashproofed Dynam Mustang diving vertically into cement at full power (it was a student, not me this time!)- it broke the prop and spinner, and one servo. Not even a CRACK on the plane!!!! It surprised even me!
Denise should do the camera work for all of the RC airplane videos that people post on TH-cam. She knows how to zoom in and out when it is relevant to show the performance of the planes. Most people will zoom in the entire time, or they will zoom so far out you cannot see it. That Spitfire looks amazing!
+David B It does- and I eventually also put in a 40A ESC, which got it moving quite nicely. Right into a steel pole. You mean the pole that you knew was there, Steve? Uhhhh...yeah... It WAS spectacular, though. Got going with the high wind at full throttle, dove across my front, and hit the pole to my right, (about 20 feet out from me), doing about 100MPH groundspeed. I thought I was further out in the field. Good depth perception.
+David B Stuff like that will tend to do the planes in- Crashproofing protects you from crashes into grass fields, and sometimes pavement, depending on the angle (straight down is best on pavement)
Thanks for your reply, Your right the taxes are a pain. I will be in touch when I get a plane. I'm just a beginner and currently practicing with the smaller Spyhawk FPV.
Nice flying and the Spit looks great, I would love to get my hands on one. Cant see that happening so I'll just watch your videos and enjoy the spectacle, Squadron scramble. Gerry at Angels 1 5, Enemy sighted Tally Ho.
People in the UK and some other countries with import taxes sometimes purchase the instructions for the Crashproofing for their plane, and get the Carbon Fiber locally- saves a few bucks and lots of time
@Pono421 I painted the sky blue parts on the top with Rustoleum flat brown spray paint, which does NOT eat this foam. I also painted the inside of the cockpit and all the grey plastic parts flat black Rustoleum Spray paint. I LOVE this plane, but I DON'T love the color. It comes with the decals on a sheet, which makes it easier to paint it. The stock setup is a 30A ESC. Get the crashproofing- it already saved my Spit's butt in a big wind smackdown onto the runway!
@Killerplanes You're right. One at a time is good. I've been wanting the 109 guess I'll start there. I take the P-51 to the field everytime regardless of what else I fly anyway, to practice the more agressive moves.
@WarbirdFan66 The paintjob took me less than 10 minutes- unmasked flat Rustoleum brown "protective enamel" and flat black on the plastic parts. Looks much more like a typical Spit. But the Crashproofing is what REALLY makes it!
My Spitfire got so distant I could not see the orientation so it dug into the dirt nose first and also the wing hit and the wing gun broke off. Bad crash but since I had it crash proofed from Killerplanes the only damage pretty much was to the prop; everything else was minimal and easily fixed. This was a hard crash too; I had to dig the dirt out of the nose and 2 out of three blades of the prop had broken off! It's back together now looking about the same as before the crash.
If you can get a Dynam Hawksky, we have a kit for that we've been upgrading for 3 years now, and we've made it almost indestructible- the greatest beginner plane anywhere! The kit comes with video instructions, too!
What is amazing is that the fast nimble spitfire did a left 90 degree turn in the same spot over 3 seconds, LOL. Good plane, but darn... that superior speedy plane probably survived the wind when others would not.
+johnny ray Yeah- I love doing that, too. I did finally do this plane in- flying down at the schoolyard, doing speed runs with the wind. Got it up near 100 MPH ground speed, and hit about halfway out the right wing on a steel pole. That pulled the wing off, and the fuse hit the pavement doing about 75 or so. Amazingly, it doesn't look that bad- it would just be more time to fix than I feel like putting in
+Killer Planes - Reinforced RC Planes You don't know it.... but, there is a German Engineer inside you that tests everything to failure... to a good end. You then know what the plane can and will do. You place yourself as the common pilot, and the plane as the brand at hand, between the two....success, tested in high wind to relevant standards. A superb pilot might do better, but you have to remember the common enthusiast, so you place yourself as he or her. Why I enjoy watching you and Denise, I feel it is fun, technology and truth. As we used to say after a battle in the old Army... "even a blind hog finds an acorn sometimes".
+Killer Planes - Reinforced RC Planes Glad i touched your kind nerve, Steve. I spent 25 years in the Army working with saints and sinners, idiots and geniuses, the sinners and idiots always had a good idea, but you couldn't give them credit. After all your dealing with sinners and idiots! Every now and then the declared Genius would come up with a good idea, but you couldn't give them credit. After all, he is only a "declared" genius sort of like flawless flypaper. Who is going to get the fly to land on it? Nobody! I was an LSU type, i suffered, bled, laughed, and tried to stay away from Generals and Geniuses. You are not a genius, thank God, you are a practical applicant, we need more like you. Years ago I submitted a better idea for a steel flat bottom water tank that required no pump to discharge. An old Colonel said, you know they are going to hate you (the geniuses he meant) I made a film, demonstrated it, took it through countless tests, practical tests that answered all sorts of questions I had no answers for with the army equipment we were issued. Because there was no engineering test.... it died, and they hated it. Although before their eyes it outperformed what they had by 150%. I learned, it is good to be hated, it is good to love, it is good to endure, if what you are doing works, don't pay attention too much to the other schmuck (what Infantry Lieutenants call each other, just another schmuck) the senior lieutenant is the "senior" schmuck. Once he is a captain, he is just a high ranking Jr. Officer. Sorry, I got my wounds inside my head, my hide is still pretty tough. Retired after enlisted and officer service, a Major (Field Grade Schmuck). Deep inside still a confused and some what sinful private and sometimes idiot.
+johnny ray ..I bought this Spitfiire Variant because of this video and wanted the Rigidity the "Crash proof kit" gives the plane.... I went with the "supermax" option plus a few t shirts,as it s a status thang over here ... It all awaits Its Day as I kkeep adding to the box..4 x yellow tip props as miine came with just black ;(( JCX-M6 flight controller,40 amp ESC and Liightiing Kit so far with a sound kit being concidered ... Yes Im well pleased i found these people.(look how he holds it by the wing early on!!do that with a std one?);-))>~
@Killerplanes That price is right on target for me for the Grand Cruiser and I've being waiting on the Bf-109 for a while but Nitro is out of stock and I really like the Crashproofing. I am assuming these are the models with e-retracts and if they are....I know what I'm getting for Christmas or maybe Thanksgiving. WooHoo. I heard FMS is updated the 109 but no release date and why wait I want to fly now!
@ImaPilot100 Start with one! Crashproofing will keep you in the air. If you want to get some more practice time in the cheapest way, go for a Hawkfighter4- it's more fun to fly than the rest of them, and is WAY more crashproof-it just doesn't have the WW2 warbird look
@ImaPilot100 Grand Cruiser is $129. We have the FMS Bf-109 in stock (ARF) I need to film that one! Great plane. like all the FMS warbirds. We have all of them in stock, with Crashproofing, of course. So far the Corsair has lived through 2 nosedives (one stupidity and the other stupideridity), the T-28 through a dead battery dive, the P-47 through THREE head-ins (I finally figured out it had a bad reciever) and the Cessna through a face in at the bottom of a loop! I LOVE CRASHPROOFING!!!
@3801Catcher Woof! I haven't tested the motor with anything over the Dynam 40A- check the temp after a 3 minute flight to make sure it's not on the way to meltdown!
@allanshoafrocks 3000mAh 4s 30c with the stock 30A ESC, but you ABSOLUTELY need to cut air vents in the nose and tail, otherwise the plane just stops when it heats up, untll it cools back down. Not good for staying in the air! We have a how-to vid almost ready to show cutting the vents
@mreid08 Actually I'm flipping the plane around on purpose- I call it "wind surfing" and I love doing it. You need a responsive plane to do it with, and this baby fits the bill! DId a few high speed flybys so you can see the little filly RUN!
Yeah, that what I'm talking about. What size 4s are you using in her and did you get more speed wiith the 4s on the stock esc or the 3s on the 40A esc?
@3801Catcher -Part of the vid is with the stock 30A ESC and a 4 cell, the other part is with a Dynam 40A ESC and a 3 cell battery. The 4 cell is faster, and yes, their paint color is ugly. Rustoleum spray paint is what you can use on this foam, right over the old paint is good
@ImaPilot100 3000mah 4 cell, and it's faster on the stock ESC with the 4 cell - with airvents cut in! You can use between a 2200 and 3000 4 cell for this kind of performance
@GamerSipes She totally rules- and she does the edits too. I just stand around with my mouth hanging open holding a transmitter. She's cute, too, although her tastes in men leaves you scratching your head.
@ImaPilot100 No, Nitro has cheap prices listed on their out-of-stock items to sucker people. We actually have the plane in stock. When we're out, I'll change the price to $180 for ya
There in lies my problem. I lost elevator control @ 50 ft on my Dynam T-28 (not CP) broke into about 6 or 8 pieces and is on workbench (want to replace that). My Dynam Spitfire(not CP) has about 3 nose in/ tip stall/ bad landing, broke wing, crack fuselage...fixed and flying(want to repalce that). Art-Tech P-51 (is CP) is the work horse even face in on loop, back up like new( just want a new P-51 cause I can breathe).+ Bf-109 +Cruiser. That's a house pymt. Plus shipping!
minimainiac1969 Hi Steve, Did you get the email I sent you on the 3rd and 6th Jan? It contained the questions I had regarding the wing root rod locations and photo's. I have now had to start a post on RC Groups to try and get more info, perhaps you would like to pop online and help me out. Regards Simon
minimainiac1969 Got that email finally- it was sent to The Lovely Denise. I sent you the answer to life's most frequent question: "What the heck does THAT mean?"
I didnt hear you say motor size,I am sure you did. What was in it originally. Anytime to add material as you do by " crashproofing" You change things,CG for one. Also you would have to bump up the motor size as well as ESC and add a UBEC. Nothing wrong with mods! Just remember,it changes everything pretty much. Thats ok,Isnt that why we do mods. Like the six million dollar man. Better, stronger faster, you bet!
It had the original everything in it. Turned out we had to upgrade to a 40A ESC (the Dynam "Detrum" one) to keep the ESC from overheating with a 4 cell. The CG actually always stays in the same place on the wing, you just have to keep the plane balanced when you install stuff. Using the bigger battery did the trick with these Dynams (to balance our reinforcement install) I finally did destroy this plane by hitting a steel pole in an 85MPH flyby- tore one wing right off!
Flys great with "More, Bigger, Vents" Stevie. Great video. Happy Birthday Denise.

I thought I was further out in the field. Good depth perception.
Steve..how did the crash proofing hold up?? Did ya have a video or a picture to show for your talent flying skills when you hit the pole? :-) J/K.
+David B Stuff like that will tend to do the planes in- Crashproofing protects you from crashes into grass fields, and sometimes pavement, depending on the angle (straight down is best on pavement)

@ImaPilot100 heat up the tip of a fillet knife and slide it down each side to cut off about 1/2"- then the 3000mah fits easily!
@Killerplanes thanks for the info, but what is your amp draw on the 4cell...
Spitfire loves the wind
+Guy Ramey She sho do! And I do love slinging it around in the wind too
Oh and whats the price on the grand cruiser, CP of course. I really like the Me/Bf 109's do you plan on or are you testing those by Airfield.
@3801Catcher Woof! I haven't tested the motor with anything over the Dynam 40A- check the temp after a 3 minute flight to make sure it's not on the way to meltdown!
Yes- she's an ACE!
HOPE it sets up same way my dynam mustang does = sweet
Did you change the ESC? I want to get one and repaint mine the same too.

You should get a video of Denis flying it around one of these days. ;)
ho acquistato lo spitfire ,volevo sapere se ha di bisogno , di tubo di carbonio sotto le ali
what 4 cell did you use??with the stock esc??really 30 amp??gota be real nice to that I would imagine.
@ImaPilot100 109 good. we have it for $209 in stock (plus the crashproofing)
steve, do you think this spit on 3s is about same as dynam t-28 on 4s? it seems like it from the video..
@allanshoafrocks You can't stop us! More planes, more videos, more fun!!! Add a room to the house!
I could not get a 3000 in mine, did you have to cut a lot of form for it to fit?
We finally settled on a 3000mAh 4 cell and 40A ESC, with air vents
@ImaPilot100 3000mah 4 cell, and it's faster on the stock ESC with the 4 cell - with airvents cut in! You can use between a 2200 and 3000 4 cell for this kind of performance
why is yours so dark in color?... how many amps are you pull'n on the stock setup?... about ot order 1
Danke. Arnold lives in my muscular head. I'll be back.
so did you just change the esc?
Hi Steve! Could you tell me the % Of dual rates and expo that you use??? Thankssss
30% or so expo, no dual rates, usually- although dual rates might come in handy on those really windy days!
thank u!!!!!
@GamerSipes She totally rules- and she does the edits too. I just stand around with my mouth hanging open holding a transmitter. She's cute, too, although her tastes in men leaves you scratching your head.
Sharp as a molecular knife!
@Lamborghini09 Have I mentioned how much I love The Lovely Denise lately?

Hi Steve (Killer Planes) Did you get my email about the crashproof kit to the UK, I sent one via your website? Regards Simon

@Killerplanes Well I am going to add a 50A from my dead FMS Spitfire.
Do another vid with no or less wind, looks like your fighting more than flying.
just ordered it guys let you ?, sooo sorry steve crash proofing . gor the wind =A
BY THE WAY I JUST ORDERED IT:)
Love flying this baby, especially in the wind!
She definitely is a card but is she sharp
@SmoothCruizer37 small private airport that's not very active- we all know each other and fly at different times -
he lives in all of us lol
Why do you fly at a ACTIVE Airport?
@allanshoafrocks I did not smoke the dude, he was on fire when I found him. I swear.
@Pono421 Haven't checked it- more than 1, less than 100-
lol keep up the killer vids
@piratedjradio Time to climb into your steed and go to it- there's a war to be won, son!
We could get her to fly it- but then there's nobody to shoot the video - at least, not like she does!
Its an American jeremy claRCson :)
Thanks!
You're a legend KP, thanks for the upload.
it's because of The Lovely Denise. She can make any fool look good!
your wife really gets off to this hey?
They're both kind of lazy on 3s (for my taste) I like 'em fast!
lol smoke another one dude...
