Coroner is the essence of metal. I love that band since the beginning, i'm 52. It's 20 days that mental vortex is spinning in my can and i find every time something new 32 years later.
No More Colour was a yuge progression, but Mental Vortex was a quantum leap. Criminally mismanaged group of genius. A friend brought this album back from a trip to Germany where he saw them live in '88. I never gave it back. I want you is a Beatles cover. Do: Mistress of Deception Sirens Son of Lilith
If you ever check out the Death Cult Demo (newly rereleased) a couple tracks sound like they are from the Celtic Frost library. Coroner are their own beast, however, and have aged so well with time, and the 2010 reunion which is still ongoing, proves as much. Coroner also covered Hendrix and the Beatles, but they are way more than just a couple covers. Peace~
Shane, I just came back to this 2 years later; I never your answered your question at the end. I was in 8th grade when I first saw this video on Headbangers Ball; -it was my first exposure to Mainland European metal besides the Scorpions, Kreator and Helloween. I would classify Coroner as first gen European Progressive Thrash Metal, now how is that for a genre label?
The band has reformed and been touring. They've played live recently. You can find some of those videos on YT. Now whether or not they're gonna put out a new ablum is another story. No word on that just yet. But the first three albums have gotten a Gold disc remaster from an offshoot of Century Media. And they sound great. Hopefully the last three get one soon as well. One thing of note though is that during their long hiatus, their guitarist Tommy T Baron was playing with Kreator. The bassist and vocalist Ron Royce was a beast on the bass. If you watch any of their live videos from back in the day, his fijger speed was insane. He played like Steve Harris with the plucking method. He was incredibly fast and very talented.
There was a demo that predated R.I.P. called 'Death Cult' 1986. The song 'Arrogance in Uniform' has a really cool section mid-song where you can hear Ron Royce's amazingly fast riffing on the bass. Most of the songs sound like RIP as recorded and I think T. Warrior sang on a few of the songs, but don't quote me on that. The album cover you showed for this video was different than the American release. There was some reason they had to change it according to their main spokesperson for the band which was their drummer, Marky Marquis. I discovered Coroner in 1987 as they got some air on MTV Headbanger's Ball. I was instantly hooked...had never heard anything like it up to that point, as I had only been listening to Metallica, Nuclear Assault, Heathen and bands like that. Prior to that I was into a lot of neoclassical metal ie: Jason Becker, Malmsteen, Friedman, Vinnie Moore etc. I was gradually moving towards darker, heavier music and Coroner was a sort of crossover point for me as they were darker and heavier but had strong European classical influences in their sound. Arc Light and Nosferatu are two instrumentals that showcase this influence clearly. Also, the intro to one of the songs on RIP was a Bourree by Robert de Visee. I just love the Teutonic Thrash sound anyway.
Love Coroner. This song put them on the map and apparently got Dave Mustaines attention cause lyrically Symphony Of Destruction is a total lyrical rip on it. Coroner RULE! Technical thrash metal at its finest.
Coroner were extremely technical, but it was never cor its own sake. In addition, they were a trio! Amazing band with a collectve ear for power AND detail.
Nobody knew Coroner back in the day. The only reason I did is because I happened to be recording MTV on VHS tape the one time they aired the Masked Jackal music video. You had to find music in brick & mortar stores. I never saw a Coroner album anywhere or I would have bought it.
@@EricCampbellUAV yeah, 1989 with Kreator. You will even find some clips of them being interviewed during their tour. Sounds like their tour bus driver was a bit crazy lol
This is a band I never attempted to get into… I think I didn’t gravitate towards the European thrash sound, at the time… the drum mix could use a little love… I want you (she’s so heavy) is a Beatles song! A band I was into while attending college in Boston in the mid 90s, called SPORE did a great cover of the same Beatles song
This was a solid "OK" for me....it was thrash I could deal with (YAY) but I didn't fall love with it....didn't hate it, either....so, we will still take it as a win.... 🤘
Ya know I did a TH-cam short about that, I heard the song I want you, and I did think at first it was Alice Cooper or that old school band Heavy Bones, so that totally make sense cuz it sounds like an Alice Cooper tune.
@@ShaneDiablo Yes, but now it's too late, I followed the Band since the Beginning and a Lot of People ignored the Band. I've had CDs and went to the Shows but too less People were like Me and The Band haven't Success although They were so good because Pople don't understood or didn't like it and the Band quit, it's a Pity
I discovered then by accident in a store in 93. Still listening to it and it still influences my drumming style.

Coroner was vastly under appreciated. A shame indeed.
I remember seeing masked jackal on headbangers ball and picked up Punishment and was blown away
Same here.
Very underrated band. They deserved much more attention.
I agree we got more coming in the coming weeks! 🤘🤘
@@ShaneDiablo Excellent 😁
Такое впечатление, что в 1987г людей должно было разрывать в клочья при прослушивании Coroner) ps love rip
1988! I bought this at Peaches on cassette and the rest is history! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽Still listening at 47

Super solo Fabio
Also Internal Conflicts. 🤘
I recommend all the albums.....eh eh eh
@@fabiogirardi2050 True. They're all great 🤘
Saw Corner, Kreator, and Annihilator in St. Pete FL. No more Color had just came out. Kreator just released Extreme Aggression I think.
That would have been one hell of a show!!
killer song, but my favorite is the Death Cult demo with Tom G. Warrior on vocals.

They got at least 1 new jam they play live. Sacrificial lamb. It's dope. I really hope they put out an album.

They are all phenomenal but this song is a masterpiece ♥️🔥🤘🥁
