G'day, I've watched this video (and others ) a few times now.
I already have a Dune Nomad rtt that I'm very happy with and it's currently mounted on my trailer. I looked at this tent in store a few weeks ago and was impressed by it. The guy looking after me, gave me a good price deal at the time at around $1,500 which was quite good but I held off buying it that day.
Along comes their 2nds and returned item sale today, so rocked up to have a look.
I ended up buying this tent which was an ex-display unit, for just over $900! So glad that I waited!
Now I just have to wait for this rain to go away and get out there to enjoy it.

      That’s awesome.
I’ve had mine over 2 years now and I’m away almost every week and love it.
I’ve taken it to vic high country a couple of times, Fraser Island and just returned from western nsw.
      Held up to every test

We got one of these late last year and have have just started use it. We did VIC High Country for Easter in some cold conditions and it was great. We have two egg shells on the mattress and have a little trouble closing the lid 😂 and we need to remember to open the zips up for the condensation that all roof tops get.

      Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
I’m really happy with the tent. I’ve had it now for over 12month and have done vic high country, Fraser Island, and just returned from NSW southern highlands. I have to put some heat shrink over the zipper tabs as I noticed on the weekend in high winds the zippers rattle. Guessing that will happen with any zipper where their is 2 tabs each zip.
The mattress is very average. I have a 25mm egg shell overlay $60 from spotlight and that made a world of difference.
Hope you enjoy more of my content.

Mine actually leaked out off the box, auto siliconed the underneath on the joins popped her open and videoed water bubbling out the front corner join, obviously moisture built up during manufacture as the adhesives drying. Pays to buy a tube of sika and redo the joints to be on the safe side. Particularly as the roof is recessed with no channels for water to escape.

It’s all about what suits you buddy, absolutely agree, everyone has a budget, I paid $430 for my soft top rtt off market place, love it, takes about 20 minutes set up and 15 minutes pack up, quite long yes compared to the hard shells but on my budget it’s great, just paid $495 for a new cover but tent is still in good condition, if people have the money for the big boys hard shells good luck to them but I struggle to see how I’d pay 5/8/10k for a bed, plus the weight factor as well, 70/80/90/100kgs some of them, my rtt is on my car roof on racks, rating off-road is about 50kgs and about 45kgs for my rtt I’m on the limit, thanks for sharing, sorry for my long essay 😂😂😂

Do you always roll up the awning first? Won't it be so much quicker to leave the awning down and simply use the elastic cord to help tuck it in? Plus not rolling it up, reduces the bulk around those area, as it spreads the awning, making it easier to close.

I have the kings roof tent, and we have a self inflated mattress. It’s probably about 10-12cm thickness do you think that would be okay to leave in the tent when putting it down? Saving rolling up the mattress everytime need to go somewhere?

    • @ottouring
      @ottouring  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kristin,
Thanks for taking the time to watch and ask your question.
I think it will depend on what roof top tent you have and how much space is in between the floor and the ceiling. Have you removed the mattress that kings supplied?
Let me know and I’ll try and answer
Will also depend on if you want to leave your bedding and pillows in there. I don’t think that will work.
Just leave yr mattress in there and close the lid and see if it will close.

      Hey mate,
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’ve had it for nearly 2 years now and taken it to Vic high country, Fraser Island and lots of local locations. I’m pretty much away every week in it.
It’s easy to set up and pack down. You have to ensure the canvas is tucked in sides when packing away to allow proper seal.
The mattress is very firm and I’ve fitted an egg shell topper. I’m looking to upgrade this some how.
I haven’t had any issues with leaks.
The awning could be tighter as it does flap abit in wind and the zipper tabs rattle in high wind as mentioned in my last video. I have to put heat shrink on them to prevent rattling
      Other than that no issues

What 4x4 do you have again.
What set up are you going with. Just take your time because I can guarantee you in 6months time you will change things.
If you need any help or advice feel free to ask.
      Cheers
