Fun fact, in the first picture the cactus is likely a jumping cholla or teddy-bear cholla. Their spines have tiny microscopic barbs that point in the opposite direction that make removal EXTREMELLY painful and difficult.

Former gas locator here. While I can’t speak on if the line hit was inside, on the outside the insurance payout will likely come from whomever is at fault. The options being either the locating company or the contractor. Now, locating can be a bit tricky. While the concept is basic, think metal detecting but with a radio signal being run through the line, there can be hold ups and such that can throw a locator off. Even the most experienced locators can be thrown off by the signal not running properly, if at all. And all those factor in in different ways. I’ll explain if anyone’s interested.
Now, to the issue of who is at fault. Once damages occur, it’s a blame game. In a severe case like this, it’s all gonna come down to accounts and paper trails. In locating, you have a threshold of how far you can be off of the actual line location before it’s considered at fault. For where I live, that’s more or less 24 inches on either side of where the actual line location is. That’s how close we can guarantee accuracy. If the locating company got a bad signal and marked the line outside of a certain threshold from the line’s actual location, the locating company would be at fault and, considering the severity, the locator assigned to that ticket will likely lose their job in a big way.
Once we do that ticket, it’s out of our hands how the contractor completes the digging. While there are laws and regulations, it’s not always guaranteed the contractor will follow those, just like it’s not guaranteed the locator will do their job properly. Where I live, for residential service lines not trapped under hardtop, contractors are supposed to hand dig within the 48 inch grace area of our marks. Gas mains are deeper than service lines so heavy equipment is allowed with caution. If the contractor recklessly dug over a correctly marked gas line with heavy equipment when that area should have been hand dug to begin with, damages would have been at fault of the contractor and their insurance would have had to pay out.
I’m sorry for the long rant. I hope this was educational to someone.
Tl;DR: locator’s fault if they fucked up the line’s location, contractor’s fault if they fucked up digging on correct line markings

It kinda sucks that hello fresh seems to have so many problems, because literally this past week, I had my meal kit disappear in the mail too. But mine was green chef, and when they found out they gave us a full refund, but when our box came 6 days late, it was all still in safe handling temperatures and edible so free food I guess. So not all meal kits services are bad
also every thing in their box has instructions on how to recycle it.
I know I'm being that guy but, they said they just got it that day. And any food product that requires refrigeration must be refrigerated in transport. So depending on when it was delivered that day that food is still good cause it can be in the 41 to 135 temperature range for at most four hours
Honestly I've had very few issues with Hello Fresh and they've been decent...a garlic clove was missing (though I had minced garlic in my fridge so I made due with that) and I only got like 60 cents refunded, but an onion was missing and I got $10 and change...I had an extra onion at the house and was going on vacation so it was probably going bad if I didn't use it. Other than that, I've had one of their seasonings not show up (though I found instructions of how to make it from regular spices) which I forgot to report to them, but I'll see what I get. I've been doing it weekly for around 6 months, so that's about 72 meals with 3 pretty minor issues...not perfect but ~4% of meals having minor issues that were barely inconveniences
Honestly, I tried some of those Food Services, and to me they just seem far too expensive for what you're getting. Like they're not that pricey, but compared to doing my own grocery shopping it's definitely more expensive and really doesn't save me that much more time.
@Oren Black To be fair, we're talking about a single clove of garlic. That's pretty much what it costs. The thing that was most surprising to me was the $10 and change for an onion.

My house burned down 4 days ago. We got the pets out, but almost died a couple times after getting lost in the smoke. Some of the stuff we had survived, but lost tens of thousands of dollars in item damages.
We have been forced to stay out in a broken down camper that was totaled 2 years ago after a tornado. We got power running over, but I haven't had a shower in all this time, and I stink BAD.
(The reason we are forced to stay, is because insurance isn't telling us when they'll be over, and they need us there if we're going to get a cent out of them)
The nights are cold, and the work is exhausting, but at least nobody died.
God damn dude. Hope things work out.

For anyone wondering about the grooming issue:
I work at a dog salon and we (more often than you would think) have to send dogs home without finishing the groom because the the dog is violent and is a risk to the groomer and/or to him/herself. If the groom isn't finished, we don't change for a whole groom. I don't know if it's the same at the place that sent that dog home, but honestly no groom is worth getting bit by a dog.

The one about the friend house that burnt down and lost everything at 8:44, I understand. It didn't happen to me personally, but it happened to my uncle. It was on christmas day, he basically has a pack of dogs and thankfully he had decided to take them with him to my grandma's house. Technically the fire department got there so quick that they could've put out the fire and there would've been salvageable stuff, but my uncle and his girlfriend owns guns and it had gotten so hot that the bullets started going off inside the house, so the fire department had to wait for them to stop before they could do anything. By then, though, everything was gone. We all felt so horrible for him, but we're all super glad he didn't leave his dogs home.

A shim costs about $10 to $15 cheaper than bolt cutters. I’m sure there was a better way to open a lock than cutting it open. And with a lock that cheap all you need is an aluminum can and some scissors to make your own shim which is free if you look for them. I said it before and I will say it until my last breath; people don’t think.

Remember, if you ever shim or tie or friction fit something, it's always easier to take apart than put together.
Having worked at a storage facility, I can assure you that cutting the lock is easier and quicker. And that's ignoring the fact that you probably don't care to save a cheap lock in the first place.

I'm the same way with my belongings. Phone, wallet, and keys never leave my pocket in a public space. I don't leave them in a locker or anywhere else. If I need to use them I use them and put them right the fuck back in the pocket. Can confirm it's a very good strategy for not losing your stuff (or having some dip shit steal it)

Was actually quite surprised by the gas price one. I thought to myself, “Wow! This doesn’t belong on this video!” And proceeded to realize that it’s way above normal in the US. Where I live in Iceland, we have gas stations that get up to about 390kr (approx. $3?) per liter. I think that’s about $10 a gallon? Yeah, and that’s not even the highest it gets. I’d love to only pay 260kr ($2) for a liter. Sucks I can’t.
