Our master closet is TINY - 70 inches wide (from side to side) and 54, 1/2 inches deep (from door to wall). Really tiny. We decided to take everything out of it, tear out the old shelves and redesign everything! In this DIY video I show you everything we did from demo to the new design and configuration and the full installation. This project was so worth it!

Phenomenal transformation! The Kreg tool pin jig is a game changer when you need to do a DIY that involves adjusting shelves!
Thank you!! No doubt about that.
@@diywithandrew - What type of wood did u use to build the shelf with ???
I really enjoyed watching this. It must have been the well done narrative and enthusiasm behind it. My closet is 2” less in width (67.5”) and I almost don’t want to have hanging rods on both sides due to space. Now I’m inspired to try this setup. Thanks a bunch!!
Thanks for watching and the encouraging words. I’m glad my project might help you with yours! I wish you the best. I can say we have been very happy with it!!
Great job of video and audio of the project. After seeing the end result with the black painted wall and units, I don’t think there’s enough light even from the sun that would encourage me to go black. Closets are utility and that means useful light.
Haha! That is a great point. I haven’t ever thought about it being dark but now I won’t be able to not think about it.
Yes! Thats a freaking showroom quality of a closet!
Thank you!!
Looks Great... You just helped me out with the Makita line trimmer cord replacement.. I had a vague moment when something I've done 20 times before just disappeared from memory. Cheers.
Awesome! So glad.
Great build!
Thank you! I’m so glad I took the time to do this. It’s a game changer.
awesome closet
Thank you!!
Turned out awesome! Makes me want to do our closet now!
Thanks Adam. Awesome! Go for it. It is a total game changer in the day to day living.
I say to for it as well! It’s amazing when us builders can inspire others to do a project and build something awesome!
Yes!
Thanks for sharing. I think stacking clothes rods (one at "belly"height & the upper one near ceiling) is the most efficient use of space for hanging clothes. You did a really nice job, and I offer compliments for your bloopers. It shows we're human & make boo-boos on occasion.
I recently did a closet make-over as well. Your pre-construction closet was a mirror image of mine. Just shelves on top, and hanging clothes around perimeter. Very space-wasteful. I'm sure you thoroughly envisioned how closet design would fit your requirements. Much of a successful project is to identify needs & how to satisfy them via proper design.
I opted for 3/4" melamine; only had to apply white adhesive banding for edges. I took pictures & vid along the way; perhaps after I get done with the rest of my house reno, I'll do some video editing & post as well.
Anyway, your closet is beautiful. I'll bet abandoning that pull chain for light was one of the best ideas, too. The shiplap wall is a nice touch. I was considering sprucing up the wall somehow, too, but considering it's "only a closet" and all the clothes will cover the walls,..... I decided "nah".
Hey: Very nice! Congratulations !
Thank you for your super kind reply! I really appreciated that and liked hearing about your project as well. Thanks again!
Great job!
Thank you, Jay!
Nice.
Thanks!
What are the dimensions of your shelf boxes? My closet is little bit smaller but i think i want to try keeping same sizes of that main shelf box and adjust everything else
The main box interior is just under 84” tall. 13” wide and 16,3/4” deep. I then used the peg system to make adjustable shelves. One shelf is permanent ear the middle to help with structure after I measured and knew where I wanted this to be. 6 shelves are adjustable. Could have more if you don’t have laundry basket at bottom. I hope this helps!!
Paint looks great, what did you use? Going to do this in a condo flip up in Denver!
Thanks! Heck yea. Sherwin Williams duration in just a regular black.
Awesome! Do you sell any of the things that you make? I saw the video with the hexagon headboard and I was wondering if you sell the panels?
Thank you!! I used to but not much at the moment. Feel free to email me! Located in my about page.
@@diywithandrew thanks! I sent you an email
Gorgeous!!! I’m thinking about doing this exact transformation for my closet. Roughly how much did all the materials cost you?
Thank you! We are so glad we did it. I can’t remember but I don’t think we paid more than $300 for everything
Can you give me the dimensions of the inside of your closet? We're looking to do ours but yours looks a little bit bigger so I'm not sure if it'll be worth it. Thanks so much!
I’m so sorry I missed this comment! It’s 69.5 inches wide and 55 inches deep so not very big which was why this update was so helpful!
@@diywithandrew thx for the dimensions. this is also helpful for me planning to build one. what is the width and height of the closet's door?
My closet measurements nearly mimics yours, what are the height and width of your boxes?
85” tall by 14.5” wide. Hope that helps! PS I’m making plan for them soon available for download if you want to stay in touch on that by signing up for my monthly newsletter!
I finally got plans made and if you are interested they can be found here: fieldtreasuredesigns.gumroad.com/l/zkjor
What were the dimensions of this closet?
70 inches wide (from side to side) and 54, 1/2 inches deep (from door to wall). Really small.
"Makin' with Bacon"
Haha!!
