I actually called my abusive grandmother and thanked her a few weeks ago. I told her "Thank you for showing me who I do not want to be." I told her that the mental and psychological abuse that she did to me made me strong enough to help others in my situation. I told her that without her I probably wouldn't have gone into my profession. The disdain she showed for my disabilities only made me want to fight harder for those with them.

This hit really close to home. I've been held hostage in an extremelly toxic relationship. Manipulated, cheated on, lied to constantly, physically abused. I've developed quite a few psychological issues, started getting panic attacks. After I managed to break loose, I thought that I will always be a husk of a man that doesn't need nor deserve love. It started getting better, I've worked on myself and started getting better just to mess with that person, that believed she destroyed me. But now, I'm 21, I have my GED, I'm working on getting my first book published, working two jobs (technically three with the book), I'm riding the bus too and from work, and now, I'm working on getting my endowment and going on my mission. I came across this song by accident and wow, where was this band in my life?! This is such a fantastic song, I love it so much! The lyrics themselves are just so meaningful and hit you right in the face, then there's the flow of the lyrics. I love the sound of this song, the instrumentals and the way the lyrics are sung are just, so perfect. It's kind of difficult to describe how great this is. I hear the first few seconds and I just couldn't help but listen with all my attention. I feel like this will be a song I come to when I feel down.

For 18 years, my abusive, toxic, narcissistic Aunt lived with my mom, dad and me and we only got her out of our life a couple of years ago after she tried to kill my mom. I've lived most my life dealing with a narcissistic abusive toxic brother, he seemingly lived his whole life to just push me down and always be on top. I know the feeling of betrayal. 2 guys I knew for 6 years turned on me in freshman year of high school, they sided with the headmaster's son who bullied me throughout the entire year. I've had to carry their barbed, rusted knives in my spine for 11 years. 11 fucking years! the very mention of their names awakens my rage and I still remember their full names and faces. WOW! I’m never not amazed by your music, there’s isn’t a single song that doesn’t speak to me, but this one really hit home.
Your music has really made me feel less alone, and no words can describe how thankful I am for all of you.
Coming from experience of getting pushed down and beaten by others both mentally and physically all the way up to high school this is one of those songs that keep me from making a decision that I would never be able to take back. Me and my sister are both survivors of suicide and it's hard to imagine what those that loved us would've thought if we died.
So from the bottom of my heart I thank you for creating another wonderful song that's saved both me and my sisters lives.

You have no idea how much I relate to this song. I was diagnosed with autism when I was four, and so many people told me and my mom that I would never accomplish anything, and I would be worthless. But now, I'm 21, I have my GED, I'm working on getting my first book published, working two jobs (technically three with the book), I'm riding the bus too and from work, and now, I'm working on getting my endowment and going on my mission. When I heard this song, I could just picture myself walking down a street with a huge smile on my face with this song playing, and everyone who ever doubted me, in complete shock.
