I raced a cr500 service honda and the vibrations were just too much. I got used to it but after cracking 2 pipes and an upper engine mount i learned the cr500 was never meant for an aluminum frame

I used too love seeing the sale adds for the CR 500. Hardly ridden,rode once,like new ! Then when you went to look at it, some dude would come limping out of his house to show it to you! Good times !😁
Things are amazing if you have the courage to get past 1st/2nd gear or so though, they smooth out and feel like a 125 on crack if you can mind the throttle long enough go get there.

Them CR500's did have some serious vibrations. They will crack or break every bracket or mount on the thing eventually. Badass though, the power they produce is unreal.

Sweet bike, but as a former 500cc two stroke owner, what I am truly in awe of is the man who was able to start a CR500 in tennis shoes. I had a friend with a KX500 that attempted this and he actually broke his ankle when it kicked back. Those engines are evil and will bite ya if not kicked over with due respect. I only started my 5Hunny with proper boots on!
My buddy I rode with all the time had one the first thing we did was take the whole bike apart and red locktight every bolt on it. And bolts still came loose! Those bikes bring a new meaning to arm pump!
It was a CR 500 that taught me the importance of a chest protector lol. Left a trail on to a gravel road right behind one Damn thing threw the earth at me 😂😂😂
Badenb penb. First I had Maico GME 500 as a two Stroke. I sold it very quickly getting my arms so long after being used a powerful xr250. Then Husqvarna came into my life. 250 2 stroke
That is some serious pipe vibration. It really needs to be secured a bit more. That sounds and looks great, not as good as the YZ, but still very nice. 500s are by far the best sounding engines.
God I can feel the vibrations from here! I had a 2000 cr250 that just rattled my hands numb I can’t imagine a 500. I literally kept a 10mm wrench in my pocket when I rode cause it would vibrate everything loose. Great bikes though 👍
I use to do it on my 86 years ago all the time and it finally bit me, kicked back and went right through the sole and took a huge chunk out of the arch in my foot. Oh ya it hurt like you would not believe. I miss that bike
That is a beautiful machine. Theyve sure changed from what I had. A 76 cr125 with a down pipe. I would park this bike in my living room after riding it

And the facts are the facts - get it wrong and your gonna pay with pain, and 500cc two strokes try to shake your teeth out - even the Suzuki Quadzilla - 500cc 4 wheeler need a pint of LocTite a month to keep the bolts in! And tingles and numb? Forget about it! Those bikes brought new meaning to "point and shoot", better have your line for the next turn picked and in your sights coming out of the last turn 'cuz you're IN the next turn before you think of it. God, I miss those bikes.
As a former 500 owner I get it. I lived out west and rode it in the desert, ran 15/42 gearing to keep the RPM down and it hooking up. Pretty sure that bike could have cracked 100 in the sand no problem. Good running 500s love to pull a load.

This is like a 500$ aftermarket pipe.. its probably 4x stronger than an oem one
Usually them expansion chambers are spring mounted for flexibility so they don't crack. At least on the earlier models.
