Back in 81...This song kicked Ass. It's 2021...Still kicking Ass. Younger generation, you could learn a few things from is old farts about music. And, the unforgettable 80's.When country, rock, and metal changed the music scene.
Don't forget Punk Dance and the venerable synthesizer and its real power the sequencer. They left a mark on todays music that is indelible and forever changed the face and sound of all music. What a great time to be alive. The whole place went crazy. Hot cars. Hot chicks and bright colors. Things kicked ass.
I remember picking up "Wanna Be A Star" in the early 80s because of this song. The rest of the album rocks too! Canada had a great deal of awesome music besides Rush, April Wine and Triumph back then! Too bad most of us in the states never heard it!
I wish I could have been there to see this... I am very pleased that I saw this video. This song came out when I was a kid... so these guys are a few years older than me. I was fortunate to grow up in the 80's with all the cool tech that came out and the fun fast times without all the social and political BS. God bless these guys that they are still out playing.
this was great, 40 plus years since they released this and they still can pull it off. had to love the little blonde in the baseball cap in the stands, she was into this and that could have been her grandfather up on stage, she was loving this.
A classic! Was wondering if Bill Henderson and Chilliwack was still at it and then stumbled upon this TH-cam. They still sound great. Thanks for sharing!
Chilliwack a pesar de los años conserva la calidad. Este tema es un gran clasico que definio una epoca de la que fui y soy parte porque esos clasicos son eternos. Muchas gracias a la persona que compartio este video.
After hearing the original, I thought this would be very difficult to pull off live. And at the time of this concert (2019), I figured they were going to be too old to pull this song off. Well, I was completely wrong! Great job!
This song is DIFFICULT to pull off live even under the best circumstances. So much going on. This is pretty ragged but they do a better job with it than I imagined could be done.
I was thinking the same. It probably took a few takes to get all those vocals right in the studio, never mind live! All things considered, it’s pretty darn good.
3:22 That's how you rework a high harmony when your voices can no longer reach it. :) Age happens! (Either that you take the Frankie Valli approach and lipsync it.)
@@CosmoMusicTube - At their age you are very correct. They knocked it out of the park. I am younger than them and I know my limitations. Good job on this show. I wish I could have been there. Good wishes from Pittsburgh PA
I caught the whole show. They put on a really good performance. Bill is indeed still going strong. I believe that's his brother in the band with him now.
Wifey was singing this a few minutes ago I said to her 'you know that song' she said ' I'm singing it aren't I? So....here I am in 2021 By the way they perform it rather well
They need a female singer that can help him out, saw a video with a lady singing and playing rhythm guitar, sounded amazing! Should bring along someone like that when they tour.
Bill gave the number of musicians who have been in the band during this show. Right before Fly at Night, I think. It's up in the 20's, what with one thing and another. I think Bill is the only original left. I believe Bill's brother is Brian's replacement on guitar.
Has as much or more to do with only having 3 voices to sing the harmonies live. With overdubs, there are more voices than that in the studio version, that's for sure. Even if they were still in their vocal prime, they'd have had a hard time pulling that off live.
He's okay, you can tell his voice is not nearly like it was before, seen video's where his voice is cracking, too much straining, etc. Too bad, saw him 10 to 12 yrs ago and was quite different back then..

I'm part of the younger generation, and 1 month these will be the first guys I get to see play live!
WTF?? Only 1 comment so far?? These guys still sound great and (apparently) are still rockin'!!!! True Canadian GOLD.....
errr. they don't sound that great now.
@@PapagenoMFactually they do I seen them on Father’s Day weekend and they sounded amazing.
Wow, still going strong in 2021 ! Classic Canadian Song !
I recently played this around my 9 year old son and he walks around singing it every day!
MTV FALL 1981 I was a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL . SAW CHILLIWACK and loved them ever since . SAD the werent big in the U.S.
My older brother has this song on 45rpm record. I played it all the time when I was little

I remember hearing this song while I was touring Canada in 83. Good to see they are still going.

July 10 2024 Chilliwack will be playing in Peterborough Ontario. Can’t wait to see them.🎉

Yacht Rock Sirius really did these guys right. They are really good.
Dec. 2020, still listening!

@@brushman20 Yeah, can't really give the vocals the same depth live with only 3 singers. Need the magic of overdubs. Or a small choir live.
This is so cool...
So good, great vocals! and Live! These guys learned without autotune.
Solid after all these years. Great job.
La calidad de esta banda se mantiene aún con todos los años que han pasado. Excelente.

Such a fantastic song!!!!!
Superb!!!! Great song!!!!!
Classic!
Congrats to all the band! You did it as well as in the 80's
they killed it!

INCREDIBLE!

As a Yankee, one of my fav Candian treasures.
you are gonna make this nation shed a tear

3:29 Still able to hit the modulation live.
Do you still be hitting those notes this late in his life? Nice job!

I know Doug Edwards (bass) and Brian MacLeod (guitar) both passed from cancer. May they rest in ✌🏻

Anyone remember them on Merv Griffin?
They were?
First time I heard wad on mtv
Love this song, but with this rendition, it does not sound like it used to...I get it! They have gotten older, etc. etc.

He's no Rick Moranis but if someone's gonna cover the Recess Monkeys I guess they did okay.. ;)
Too Loud.

You clearly aren't vocalist. Sing for a few decades, and then get back to us.
Oooh, lead vocals were pitchy as hell. I wouldn’t have recorded this, out of respect of what they used to be.
Wow
