I think I disagree on the bloater. If you think about humans as a species, it's obvious that some will be stronger than others. Or have more stamina, or have more speed or whatever. At the end of the day that boss fight was an introduction to an enemy type, rather than a full on boss, so it makes sense that it was stronger than others; like it makes sense that no one human is built the same.
I'm pretty sure the whole point behind the Pyramid Head battles was that they were unwinnable until the end when James was ready to accept his guilt or something. You don't ever have to attack them. You can either just wait them out or run and that's generally the better option.
The Liazalfos was intentionally nerfed later in OOT just to show how much stronger Link had become thru his slumber in the Temple of time. Therefore a miny boss to young Link is just a normal enemy to adult Link. You remember how big those pig looking things were on the way to the Forest Temple?? Pretty sure those would've one shot young Link.
I think Jules is just stupid. I’m not trying to be mean, but the Lizalfos are a pretty tough Mini-Boss in Dodongo’s Cavern as Young Link because you are fighting two of them but as Adult Link, Lizalfos are not that much of a threat. Plus, the Iron Kunckle is the most fought mid-boss in Ocarina of Time with a total of five times in Ocarina of Time as you fight 3 Iron Kunckles in the Spirit Temple with 1 as Young Link and 2 as Adult Link and you fight a pair of Iron Knuckles in Ganon’s Castle as Adult Link. In Ocarina of Time Master Quest however, you fight a whopping ELEVEN Iron Kunckles, the first five Iron Knuckles I mentioned above, 2 Iron Knuckles in Master Quest’s Fire Temple, 2 Iron Knuckles in Master Quest’s Gerudo Training Grounds, and an additional 2 Iron Knuckles in Master Quest’s Ganon’s Castle. And the Iron Knuckle is a tough mid-boss in every encounter you fight them.
@@jiblitin1520 All of What Culture Gaming’s list have gotten worse. I believe that they never played the games they talk about and just say wrong information on purpose.
Lizalfos? You literally explain the "why" behind their apparent nerf in the entry. Adult Link is a more capable combatant and considerably better armed than his younger self.
What comes to mind is the Berserker from Gears of War. The first time it appears it's this unstoppable steam roller. You just survive long enough to get the Hammer of Dawn. But later you typically start encounters already having the Hammer or a way to avoid it.
From a gameplay standpoint, Pyramid Head's boss fight is silly. But from a lore perspective its easily one of the most clever cop outs in the series. You're meant to feel robbed of the victory.
The people at What Culture Gaming are, and I repeat are big idiots OF ALL TIME! And what I’m saying is the truth. They aren’t that very smart to claiming that Zelda fans get confused about The Legend of Zelda franchise’s 3 timelines because of Hyrule Historia when Hyrule Historia actually helped Zelda fans better understand the 3 timelines of The Legend of Zelda franchise, to getting all of the lore of Kirby and the Forgotten Land wrong and even claiming that Pokemon Legends Arceus is a spin-off game when it is actually a canon main line game because canon main line Pokémon games have new Pokémon introduced in them and Pokémon Legends Arceus has Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Ursaluna, Basculegion, Overqwil, Sneasler and Enamorus introduced in it which wouldn’t happen if Pokémon Legends Arceus was a spin-off game.
I have one more from the Doom universe - Revenants. In classic Doom (Doom II - heck, even Doom III), Revenants were scary guys who shot homing missiles and had a hell of a punch. They're usually the first enemy you take down in a slaughter map, for instance. But come Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, they were... kind of neutered. Maybe it's the better firepower or the fact that you can chainsaw for more ammo or whatever, but they just devolved in the newer games.
Does the Icon of Sin entry really count? Iirc, the Master Levels for Doom 2 were fan-made levels that the publishers picked to put in the expansion pack. They're just challenge levels, and nothing to do with the game's continuity. It's kind of like when Mortal Kombat 9's tower challenges had a part where u fight three Shao Kahns in a row.
You didn't say anything about #2 being a boss in this video of "Reused Bosses," as far as I'm aware the Basilisks are just an annoying enemy that you encounter in one too many areas of the Dark Souls Series.
What about the Deathclaws from Fallout franchise. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, they are basically the death sentance even to the high level players. And look at what they have become in Fallout 4 nd 76. Look how they masscared my monster!
Yes, in NV they were tough, but in FO3 they weren't that bad, especially at higher levels. (I'd cuddle with a pair of them anytime, while I really hate those dirt throwing ghouls.)
In the Pikmin games, Emperor Bulbax. He's the final boss in the first game, and it's a difficult fight that requires strategically sacrificing yellow Pikmin with bomb rocks to stun him. In Pikmin 2, he's a creature that spawns in various locations, is much smaller, doesn't require any real strategy to defeat, and can easily be beaten without losing a single Pikmin.
I mean I'm not sure how you expect FS to make a massive game that is fantastic and also be able to make every single one of their bosses (over 100) completely unique. Unless you wanted the game to come out in 2025. 150 boss encounters, 112 are unique. I'd say that its a pretty great ratio for the scale of the game and open world
That sounds like a bloated figure to me. Because not only did they reuse bosses from dungeons or other encounters several times(or more), they also copied boss designs from previous games. Elden ring was a good game, 7/10 or so. I beat it several times, it was fun. But why do people habitually give FS a pass for repeat copy paste designs that other games get trashed for? If you said 50 or 60 unique fights I might be on board. No way 112 are truly unique. Maybe unique in the sense that it’s the same boss but with a new move or two, or there are two of them. After doing as much in that game as I did I wouldn’t even believe there are as many as 50. There may not even be that much more than 150 unique enemies in general in the entire game as it is. Good game but let’s stop pretending it does all these unique things no game has ever done before. Because it does t.
Funfact for Last of US. U neednt to fight almost 90% of the clicker and bloater. Why? Because if u move slow enough they wont notice U. U can stand or sneak right in Front of Them. They dont get that U are right there
Fun fact you don't actually need to shoot Pyramid Head the 1st time you meet him. All you need to do is to to the opposite side of the room when he approaches you and dodge his attacks while you wait for him to disappear into the stairs filled with water.
You could also put all the bosses from Dead Island 2 here. All the bosses are presented as a special type of zombie that you've never encountered before. However immediately after defeating the boss and leaving the area the world will be populated by that special zombie type and you usually face them immediately after defeating the boss. Making them literally go from imposing threat to common annoyance.
Dark Souls 2's Ruin Sentinel was the most overused enemy in the game. First you fought them as an Optional Boss, there were 3 of them. Once you've reached Drangleic Castle, they've become the 2nd most popular spot to farm souls (if you're in the Company of Champions coverant). 1st place belongs to Giant Lord by the way.
The Lizalfos has a set number of HP, to put it on perspective the Kokiri sword would do 1 point of damage, the Master sword 2 and Giant knife/Biggoron sword 4 as base damage, all of them which can be doubled with a jump attack with the sword. Their HP pools don't change, your potential damage does. Get more research done before posting since that kind of inconsistency goes to some of the spots in this list as well.
One example that came to my mind is tommasi from control, he is the first boss fought in the game and poses a real threat as you just got your new power mere moments ago. At the end of the fight he escaped and at a certain point (I don't know the trigger) you can get a mission where you have to finish him off but at this point you are so overpowered that it will take mere minutes to take him out for good
It's been a while but as I recall the DS2 tripods are easier to kill later on due to your upgraded weaponry. Even the first fight becomes fairly easy when you're doing NG+.
Basilisk are regular enemies that people more than likely come across when they are a low level and it's the first encounter. This entry didn't make any sense.
The Basilisks in Dark Souls are also EASY to kill early on once you get past the smoke cloud. You just haven't gotten gud at that point making them seem hard when they're actually not if you know how to avoid their gimmick. Also to my knowledge they're NEVER boss fights so why are they on this list? Should've put the Berserker from Gears or the Scarab from Halo instead. Or even the Maurauder from Doom Eternal. Yeah the devs nerfed him, but after you beat him the first time you know the basic pattern to beat him and he's much less intimidating.
What about the Darknut the Zelda series? I have to disagree the two El Gigante fight is plenty challenging sure you have more weapons and ammo but these things take aren't pushover and you need to be careful about which one goes in the pit because while the regular one will die right away the other will spring from the lava and instakill should you get too close.
