I used the Turtolsky that starts with a strike down heavy and I was shocked how fast it killed certain enemies, pretty sure I one shot maulers with it.
Also that is some bizarre luck you've had only having Rannick on Clandestine Gloriana, for me it was a 50/50 split of the two.

How did you spam special attack so fast?

Tap or hold block while using the special to spam it faster. Tapping is preferred if you learn the rhythm because holding it makes the hitbox disappear quite early, making it harder to hit heads with consistently unless you angle your camera.
