The only problem I have with with this epic boss being beat defeated. Is how come throughout the beginning of all this mess all this series of Lena having to beat this boss!! She just used the sword of light as a channel for that power. At this point in the story she doesn't know that she's the incarnation of the lord of nightmares of course. But that's why the dragons fear her and why most monsters know her name. It was a series of books before an anime I'm pretty sure. However on another note. She does say that this spell is her last ditch, all or nothing. And she's not using her own magic so much as the sword's magic and an incantation. If you think of it that way, she was more asking the sword than the lord of nightmares. I also don't think the giving of this power is something the bosses notice. Again I'm going to talk about later seasons here. In the second season we meet a monster by the name of Gaav. He is responsable for a spell called the 'Gaav flare'. In a ditch to save an ally Lina throws a gaav flare as a distraction to the monster. And he seams legitimately surprised. Of course it just cancels out like the dragon slave did on Shabernigdo, but he didn't expect it. If he did he would have just kept attacking the companion and ignored her attempt. So I don't think the lord of nightmares even knows she's using that power.

The thing about that spell is, if you use that spell, the entire planet dies. You are not suppose to use that but because Lina is who she is, she was able to wield it.

Just 1/7th? 1/7th of Sabranigdo took out 1/4 of a Dragon God. It also brought untold chaos to the world and wiped out most of the golden dragon (Try is non-canon) Not only that she also erased him permanently, she was now beat back into the blood of men. If he ever recombine with his remaining pieces he will be 1/7th weaker.
I kinda feel like Shabby wanted to see if she could pull it off just as much as everyone else. He was so into it, he forgot to counter attack for a moment.
Cut out of this scene was the part where Rezo stopped Shabby from fully protecting himself. Thats why he say both her and rezo get the honor of his death.

I wish they made a real life movie of this anime. But i would want Disney to help produce this film since they have the most funding and money to do it, and they have success in bringing animation to live action films lol.

there are 6 sealed pieces left ...his body resides in the astral plane ...lina draw's the power of shabranigdo from the astral plane to summon the dragon slave.. so with him materialized or not into this world ,there are still 6 pieces of him he still exist in the other plane ...another thing to note is that dragon slave is just a fraction of his power so even if he is in dormant state,to offer to a puny mortal the power to summon the dragon slave its just nothing ..he has the strongest astral body besides LON

It's like two frames but I appreciate how there's no beam struggle like you'd expect when the two blasts meet; the Giga Slave doesn't even slow down. It just instantly deletes Shabranigdo's strongest blast.

Agreed. Next and onward, the voice acting became great, but it really felt questionable at times during the first season. In Lina's defense at least though, I heard this was Lisa Ortiz's very first voice acting role. Unless I was misinformed.
That wasn't Shabranigdo saying that. That was the DM, in utter disbelief that one of his PCs pulled this solution out of her ass to beat the BBEG so early in the campaign, that it was completely above-board rules-wise, that he somehow MISSED it, and that it WORKED. That's why a bunch of the episodes after this were all comedic filler episodes! DM needed to stall for time so he could come up with a new ending to his campaign. You just KNOW that after she pulled this shit, he got up from the table, stepped into the kitchen and poured himself a drink.
Apparently when channeled through an enchanted item or weapon, the Giga Slave could be focused on a pointed target without allowing other things to get drawn into it. In Slayers Revolution R it acted alike a black hole once fired.
I don't really see the problem... The Slayers dub is one of the substantially better dubs out there. True, some of the voices seem a bit awkward but not really bad per-say...
badcar33 the best move that CPM made in the original Slayers Dub was recasting Crispin Freeman as Zelgadis. Lisa Ortiz was the perfect choice for Lina, and Eric Stuart just sounded great as Gourry. I also can't complain about Veronica Taylor as Amelia. This Dub was better than ADV's dubs of the movies and OVA's.
You're not expected to know this until much later, but Lina actually puts the Lord of Nightmares in her body. The Lord of Nightmares has blond hair and, as such, temporarily gets her hair colour.
Lina had to use the Sword of Light to help her have the magic capacity to cast an imperfect version of Giga Slave (stable and strong enough to defeat Shabranigdo). That’s why this one is in the shape of a sword. Later, she has the 4 Demon’s Blood talismans from Xellos that allows her to use Magic Amplification. Along with knowledge from the Claire Bible, Lina is then able to use the complete spell (the black hole version) without having to use the sword. Problem with the talismans, though, is that each is empowered by 1 of the 4 Dark Lords. If one of them caught Lina using their power, they could just cut it off, meaning no Magic Amp. Trying to cast the Giga Slave would then either be impossible or even riskier.
The great Evil dark Lord for all of his Horror in the very end is still a noble life form beaten and bested by Mortals that would have no chance possible in any other realm or scope imaginable to defeat him and what does he do he congratulates them on a job well done. That is a true honorable devil right there no whining no bitching just simply admits well s*** wasn't expecting you to pull this off but f*** it good for you guys let's hope you can do better than next time I show up. That is so freaking boss and why he is the most awesome of all the dark Lords

But there are a lot of great anime out there that never got any or barely any advertisement at all and when i mean Great and mean Anime that just hit the spot, superb. Tobad anime like Slayers, Tears to Tiara, and etc. Didn't get much recognition. because of advertisement.

exactly, first becauseit is not the definitive version of the spell wich is not complete. See slayers next episode 25 for a complete version or slayers evolution-R episode 13. Second, she uses a medium whereas she needn't next times because of the demon blood talimans.

Physical damage means nothing to a Mazoku(their physical form is nothing but an image they create to interact with the human world) unless you can harm its astral body, and unless Ki (which is merely manifesting spiritual energy made physical)can traverse dimensions, Goku would be wasting his time. I'd give Goku a chance against a fragment like this one here, but against Shabrinigdo in his full form (who has the power to destroy his universe), I don't think so.
That's a pretty interesting comment. The Spirit Bomb does affect things that are evil, but I don't think you can define chaos as good or evil as it is a part of pretty much everything. As much as I like DBZ, I don't think the Spirit Bomb would have any effect on the Lord of Nightmares.
@galacliva she didnt say it was a " thought" monologue if you watch show further in if she were to lose focus of giga slave it would consume the entire planet along with her. At this point she isn't aware that it would destroy planet SHE IS aware that it would kill her. It is one reason i like slayers...spells are monstrously powerful but ones like this that are god killer spells typically have huge draw backs.

The Giga Slave becomes a cornerstone for a lot of the story going forward from here, especially in the second season. It does kinda come out of nowhere at the end of this fight, but I like how it continues to affect the plot.
Normally the death of one of his pieces or a human carrying one of his pieces would simply just cause him to reincarnate again but weaker. but this should have permanently destroyed that specific piece. also potentially making dragon slave spell possibly more inert should the rest of the pieces get destroyed by the same element of spell like the giga slave. of course the original plan by the god like being that split him apart was for his human incarnates to repeat the cycle of reincarnation so many times that he eventually gets thinned out and disperse
she kinda has mastered it (aside from the fact that at this point in the series she's ignorant to the knowledge that screwing up the spell will just straight up summon the lord of knightmares to end the world. ) the hair going white and exhaustion is due to mana costs. the same thing is shown to happen later on if she launches off too many dragonslaves

When you consider he wouldn't have been killed by the giga slave had Rezo's spirit not intervened and essentially stopped Shabrinigdu from blocking. That should give you an idea of how strong she is. And that's an absolute low-ball just taken from her status as a knight of Ceifeed. If you factor in any specific training, skill and magic, she likely gets way stronger.

Well i dont know if Ceipheed is totally dead he left behind 4 dragon lords and a piece of his will cause if it was "dead" (as supposed ) not even the golden dragon that are ryozoku not shinzoku would be able to use holy magic

It started off slow but when it found it's footing it became awesome! Slayer nExt was when it hit it's stride and blew it out of the water. Try unfortunately retired it.
Planets? Pffft. You do know that Shabranigdo in his completed form(not this one) can destroy the universe if he felt like it? Or that his holy counterpart Ceiphied is capable of the same(though doesn't since he was born to protect that universe)? It's what they were created to do. Or that the Lord of Nightmares (whom Lina is summoning) created them and the other Dark Lords, Gods and the other universes as a passing thought? That's way more powerful than anything in DBZ.
Demons of Slayers world are incredibly prideful. In fact going all-out against mere humans is "physiologically" hurtfult for them. In this regard a low-ranked Demon is more dangerous than a Dark Lord as he has less qualms about ending the battle swiftly.

It's explained in the episode after that drawing on the lord of nightmares causing a temporary complete drain of magical energy. It's hinted this extends to the tiny bit of latent magic in all humans that preserves their life functions.
I saw a reference to this in a web novel I was reading, but my god... that is so cringey, and the name of that attack - Giga Slave? Why? It doesn't make any sense. Is she enslaving a dark god? But it's supposed to be more powerful than her enemy, why would such a being ever lower itself to a mere human and obey her command? And again that chant, by god, I usually do my best to stay away from stuff that would make me cringe in shame so badly... I wonder how the voice actor felt saying those lines? I can only imagine it would have been better in Japanese.

Slayers was one of the anime that I really prefer it being dub, it was really good.
Slayers was one of rare good English Anime dubs on the 2000's.

I don't really see the problem... The Slayers dub is one of the substantially better dubs out there. True, some of the voices seem a bit awkward but not really bad per-say...

badcar33 the best move that CPM made in the original Slayers Dub was recasting Crispin Freeman as Zelgadis. Lisa Ortiz was the perfect choice for Lina, and Eric Stuart just sounded great as Gourry. I also can't complain about Veronica Taylor as Amelia. This Dub was better than ADV's dubs of the movies and OVA's.

Why isn't the giga slave in the form of a sword like this in Evolution-R?
Lina had to use the Sword of Light to help her have the magic capacity to cast an imperfect version of Giga Slave (stable and strong enough to defeat Shabranigdo). That’s why this one is in the shape of a sword.
Later, she has the 4 Demon’s Blood talismans from Xellos that allows her to use Magic Amplification. Along with knowledge from the Claire Bible, Lina is then able to use the complete spell (the black hole version) without having to use the sword. Problem with the talismans, though, is that each is empowered by 1 of the 4 Dark Lords. If one of them caught Lina using their power, they could just cut it off, meaning no Magic Amp. Trying to cast the Giga Slave would then either be impossible or even riskier.
The great Evil dark Lord for all of his Horror in the very end is still a noble life form beaten and bested by Mortals that would have no chance possible in any other realm or scope imaginable to defeat him and what does he do he congratulates them on a job well done. That is a true honorable devil right there no whining no bitching just simply admits well s*** wasn't expecting you to pull this off but f*** it good for you guys let's hope you can do better than next time I show up. that is True, most Anime that are most commonly popular have been advertised in many different ways, numerous amounts of times.
But there are a lot of great anime out there that never got any or barely any advertisement at all and when i mean Great and mean Anime that just hit the spot, superb.

exactly, first becauseit is not the definitive version of the spell wich is not complete. See slayers next episode 25 for a complete version or slayers evolution-R episode 13. Second, she uses a medium whereas she needn't next times because of the demon blood talimans.

Physical damage means nothing to a Mazoku(their physical form is nothing but an image they create to interact with the human world) unless you can harm its astral body, and unless Ki (which is merely manifesting spiritual energy made physical)can traverse dimensions, Goku would be wasting his time. I'd give Goku a chance against a fragment like this one here, but against Shabrinigdo in his full form (who has the power to destroy his universe), I don't think so.

That's a pretty interesting comment. The Spirit Bomb does affect things that are evil, but I don't think you can define chaos as good or evil as it is a part of pretty much everything. As much as I like DBZ, I don't think the Spirit Bomb would have any effect on the Lord of Nightmares.
@galacliva she didnt say it was a " thought" monologue if you watch show further in if she were to lose focus of giga slave it would consume the entire planet along with her. At this point she isn't aware that it would destroy planet SHE IS aware that it would kill her. It is one reason i like slayers...spells are monstrously powerful but ones like this that are god killer spells typically have huge draw backs.

I cam here in 2k20 just to see the only time Lina succesfully casting Giga Slave, that wasn't necessary on Rezo,Gaav and Valgaav.
The only problem I have with with this epic boss being beat defeated. Is how come throughout the beginning of all this mess all this series of Lena having to beat this boss!! She calls upon a greater boss?? A legendary power, a boss called the Lord of nightmares and not once was this ever spoken or talked about throughout the TV series??? And this is when she had nothing else to left in her.

The Giga Slave becomes a cornerstone for a lot of the story going forward from here, especially in the second season. It does kinda come out of nowhere at the end of this fight, but I like how it continues to affect the plot.

Normally the death of one of his pieces or a human carrying one of his pieces would simply just cause him to reincarnate again but weaker. but this should have permanently destroyed that specific piece. also potentially making dragon slave spell possibly more inert should the rest of the pieces get destroyed by the same element of spell like the giga slave. of course the original plan by the god like being that split him apart was for his human incarnates to repeat the cycle of reincarnation so many times that he eventually gets thinned out and disperse

Just using Giga Slave once was enough to turn her hair white and drain her stamina completely. Imagine if she completely masters it
she kinda has mastered it (aside from the fact that at this point in the series she's ignorant to the knowledge that screwing up the spell will just straight up summon the lord of knightmares to end the world. )
the hair going white and exhaustion is due to mana costs. the same thing is shown to happen later on if she launches off too many dragonslaves

@@sazikanebaldimor2386 at her WEAKEST, Luna is at about the level of Shabrinigdu in this scene. When you consider he wouldn't have been killed by the giga slave had Rezo's spirit not intervened and essentially stopped Shabrinigdu from blocking. That should give you an idea of how strong she is.
And that's an absolute low-ball just taken from her status as a knight of Ceifeed. If you factor in any specific training, skill and magic, she likely gets way stronger.

I saw a reference to this in a web novel I was reading, but my god... that is so cringey, and the name of that attack - Giga Slave? Why? It doesn't make any sense. Is she enslaving a dark god? But it's supposed to be more powerful than her enemy, why would such a being ever lower itself to a mere human and obey her command? And again that chant, by god, I usually do my best to stay away from stuff that would make me cringe in shame so badly... I wonder how the voice actor felt saying those lines? I can only imagine it would have been better in Japanese.
