I feel like the #1 pick conversation is going to get more and more intense as the year goes on. I feel like it may be 50/50 split between Flagg and Harper, at least from fans.
to me, this is the type of player that you bet on hitting his ceiling. The craft and finishing touch WITH great playmaking is as good a package as you get from freshmen. It is very very realistic to me that he ends up better than Coop. I don't follow closely enough to make a guess, but it's a convo for sure
I’m taking him first. If you average 20+ ppg as a freshman while creating most of your shots at the rim (71%!!) is just nuts. I believe in the pull up too, just too much skill as an creator
I have Dylan Harper as the #1 by large margin .. The kids has no weakness at the offensive end and at the defensive end he good. His potential is NBA superstar
He is going to be a star. His Dad is Ron Harper fr!! Star. He has improved so much since HS. And his size. Ron Harper was an ELITE defender. His kid could become a great defender. The thing with Flagg is I am confident he is going to be a potential all-NBA defender early in his career and I feel like his floor might be being the top defender and #3 option on a Championship-caliber team. That type of floor is hard to pass up. This Harper kid is looking real nice tho. If he is going to play 1 in the league I would prefer to see a pass-first style but that is purely a personal thing.
Flagg can fit in any lineup..... His shooting hasn’t been there yet but he’s playing elite D and can create with the ball in his hands. He's also more guard than forward Flagg is 9 months younger than Harper. The things Flagg is doing at 17 haven’t been done in the NCAA very often.
passing on Dylan for a forward without a handle who can't shoot would be a tough own for any franchise but what do you do if you're the Wizards, Hornets, Pistons, or Blazers?
Neither will be a generational player like MJ , Bird, or Magic. They will not grow the failing NBA. They have no flare or charisma to their game. Jeremiah Fears is more entertaining to watch than either of them.
Cooper is shooting 42/24/76 splits vs Harper’s 52/36/76 splits, and many people still believe Cooper is a lock for number 1. Is that not just a bit ridiculous?
i like the jumbo brunson comparison, althouth jb is a knockdown shooter. while harper has shown elite shotmaking ability, his pure shooting numbers aren't great.
I think I'm feeling my age and this old head is trying to wrap itself around the idea that college Freshmen (Harper, Flagg, Queen etc..) are not only in the NBA draft but are sitting on top of the conversations. I am a Wizards fan so I'm experiencing a 4-21 season right now and watching what happens when a team of mostly rookies or 2nd year players go toe to toe with veterans in the NBA. Is this the new norm? Do we draft very young players with little clock time and toss them into the NBA and say 'figure it out'?
He easily the second pick and i been saying this since coop reclassed. Bailey to me is at best the 5th pick he is a very bad defender and his shot iq and handle is very bad, I’m not hating because these been issues since high school. Bailey did fix his shot creation but he still has ball hog type tendencies, Dylan Harper And Asa Newell who i been high on since high school as well are gonna transition better. But Ace still has upside, but Demin And Jakucionis are better players.
Bailey needs to be more assertive if anything, I don't see the "ball hog" thing at all. Defense has been not bad all year too. Shot selection, handle, lack of counters, all that is a problem though. He's 4th to me behind Tre Johnson.
@@PickpocketJones i mean college makes sure you don’t ball hog but bailey is iffy, i never liked him as a prospect and he really gives off like Bootleg Paolo vibes. Its like wanting to be Like KD but you try to copy the moves and you fail to make them, thats Ace Bailey imo, honestly i feel like by March if he still putting up points he gonna get a boost from being Harpers teammate because Harper is gonna compete for the #1. He already getting talks and its been this way for a while.
Personally I have Harper going number 1. Flagg doesn’t really wow me as a creator; he’s not bad, but he’s got a lot of work to do before he can be the number one option on a good team.
Ace Bailey looks like a bum who shit his pants, missing clutch free throws, standing in the corner and passive, not to menation being abstoulty locked up by guys 6 inches shorter than him. You name it this guy should never be a top 3 pick
Yup. Harper is definitely the #1 on this team. But I also believe Ace isn’t being utilized to his best potential, then again. The way he plays putting him in a bigger role may be great for his development but not best for the team because he’s avg at best as a passer and I’d lean more to he’s bad as a playmaker although he has shown some flashes here and there, still not enough. Harper scores, playmakes, plays defense, gets to the rim better than a 6’10 Ace and even 6’9 Flagg for that matter and also shoots a higher percentage than ANY guard in the entire country in the paint. Comes up clutch in clutch time. His biggest area of improvement is his shooting off the dribble which I believe will progress the more comfortable he becomes with his spots and counters. This is going to come down to reps and consistent mechanics which the mechanics I’m not worried about at all.
He looks small I'm not sure if his inside scoring will translate to the NBA as well and Flagg has more upside despite the inefficiency it's hard to say.
lol No it isn’t this is a real debate Scoot is ass and that was for views and headline bait. This is a legit topic. Harper had EASILY proven to be the better player rn he is in control and shooting the highest fg % at the rim among all players qualified if im not mistaken which is a legit scouting area for NbA scouts and just scouting a player in general. Harper is in control of the offense and proven to be dominant while not fully developed into his body. Yea Flaggs 17 but he’s only months younger than Harper so can’t really use that in this comparison months isn’t a big difference ppl gonna over use that when comparing 18 to 17 but throw that out, when comparing these players SPECIFICALLY. Harper is more efficient and putting up better numbers in higher volume that is a legit convo to be had no matter what YOUR OPINION. Simon Flagg. If you wanna glaze Flagg that’s fine but that doesn’t make this a dumb debate this is a very legitimate discussion. And Harper is the better player plain and simple. Flaggs stock if he continues to stay at this current production will be hyped because of his ceiling because of his skillset at his height. Even then Harper is a 6’6 PG so is this really enough to favor Flagg who will play the 3/4 who’s height advantage is closer to average then being a 6’6 PG, I’d say Harper has the better advantage with his size given the position he plays. Yea very legitimate convo, ignorant to think other wise and even more stupid to act as if it is fact.
Scoot had glaring weaknesses in the g league and wemby was MVP of the French league. Dylan Harper has been a statistical anomaly as a slasher, and an advance stats darling. On top of that, the eye test is passing with flying colors Cooper has been disappointing as well. The dude can’t score
Harper is 6”6 with a WAY BETTER jumpshot that Scoot and Cooper isn’t as generational as Wemby is. There is justification on a lead guard who has shades of SGA and a taller Brunson over a forward who struggles to shoot or dribble with elite skill.
I feel like the #1 pick conversation is going to get more and more intense as the year goes on. I feel like it may be 50/50 split between Flagg and Harper, at least from fans.
Unless Flagg falls off a cliff it wont be, GM's won't pass up Flagg's superior athletic profile regardless of Harpers impressive play

Can’t wait for that Ace Bailey first look . Ace Bailey has the lowest BPM among all freshman on Barttorvik with a +15 Usage %
He’d be so good next to Scottie or Zion even as a no 1 pick.
Scottie Barnes?
He plays like Shai, at his own pace, & elite footwork 🫡
such good videos my friend

Harper Better

NEED a Dylan Harper/Cam Thomas backcourt
if the wizards cant get coop i wouldnt mind getting this kid.. if he can buy in just a little on defense, with bub bilal and alex. i like that a lot

Cooper is 6 foot 9, and a monster on defense. Shooting splits aren’t the only important stats.
Because it's not all about shooting percentages. Cooper is a much better defender than Harper
