We need to understand that some people are prediposed to a simple life and that in no way makes them less valuable, less ambitious or unworthy of love or whatever. Not everyone wants to be rich, some people are okay with themselves even without a car, assets and other things as long as they can feed, cater to their basic needs, show up for their loved ones and thats okay. Even though some of us consider these things as important and non-negotiable needs, some others are certainly not in pursuit of that. A thank you is something in return. Look, being appreciated, respected, and even given something as a sign of that appreciation is something in return. He was not wrong to expect something in return from her and she did owe him, but what he wanted was not reasonable or logical. No, I don't believe in giving to a person and not expecting anything in return because that could mean not even expecting a thank you and screw that. The world doesn't operate off of altruism and beings taking from other beings and not giving back. That's not how life or the universe works. All of us expect something from the person we give to and that's human nature and it's the correct way to view things because no one has to give you anything. However, we should be practical and logical for what we expect in return. Her fiance expecting her to fall in love with him and marry him was not practical because that's not how romantic love works. But, giving thanks, showing appreciation, and then if he needed something in the future and asked her for it, she should give it to him if she got it. So, I disagree with that B.S. about not expecting anything in return, I disagree with that fool giving her his organ and even being with her when she clearly didn't love him-that was too precious to give to a person who didn't love him the same and foolish, and I disagreed with this movie's message of there is some type of goodness in loving someone more than yourself and making the ultimate sacrifice for someone who doesn't even love you like that. Now they're married and he's had multiple relationships outside the marriage but she's stuck inside because she's disfigured. The world is not fair and going about like people owe you something because you're a 'selfless and good' person is a human setback that will just end in pain and disappointment. I learnt my lesson the hard way and now I could careless. I give what I can and when I overdo it, it's to make myself feel good. Don't give what you can't afford to loose and if you do don't expect anything in return for everyone's peace of mind including yours. We need to understand that some people are prediposed to a simple life and that in no way makes them less valuable, less ambitious or unworthy of love or whatever. Not everyone wants to be rich, some people are okay with themselves even without a car, assets and other things as long as they can feed, cater to their basic needs, show up for their loved ones and thats okay. Even though some of us consider these things as important and non-negotiable needs, some others are certainly not in pursuit of that. I cried watching this, it someway reflects on exactly what I’m going through now. A thank you is something in return. Look, being appreciated, respected, and even given something as a sign of that appreciation is something in return. He was not wrong to expect something in return from her and she did owe him, but what he wanted was not reasonable or logical. No, I don't believe in giving to a person and not expecting anything in return because that could mean not even expecting a thank you and screw that. The world doesn't operate off of altruism and beings taking from other beings and not giving back. That's not how life or the universe works. All of us expect something from the person we give to and that's human nature and it's the correct way to view things because no one has to give you anything. However, we should be practical and logical for what we expect in return. Her fiance expecting her to fall in love with him and marry him was not practical because that's not how romantic love works. But, giving thanks, showing appreciation, and then if he needed something in the future and asked her for it, she should give it to him if she got it. So, I disagree with that B.S. about not expecting anything in return, I disagree with that fool giving her his organ and even being with her when she clearly didn't love him-that was too precious to give to a person who didn't love him the same and foolish, and I disagreed with this movie's message of there is some type of goodness in loving someone more than yourself and making the ultimate sacrifice for someone who doesn't even love you like that. Inherently we want something for the good we do but we must also learn to let go, that just breeds contempt and evil intentions. Do you know so many S.A., murder, kidnapping, acid attacks etc. stem from people who just can't let go and expect something in return because they did something for you. Just recently in my country, the news is all about women and men dying or getting abused because their partner felt they owed them something for all the 'good' they did for them. A neighbor was attacked with acid by her boyfriend because she started getting advances from some men after school and the boyfriend who took her through school felt threatened. Now they're married and he's had multiple relationships outside the marriage but she's stuck inside because she's disfigured.
The world is not fair and going about like people owe you something because you're a 'selfless and good' person is a human setback that will just end in pain and disappointment. I learnt my lesson the hard way and now I could careless. I give what I can and when I overdo it, it's to make myself feel good. Don't give what you can't afford to loose and if you do don't expect anything in return for everyone's peace of mind including yours.
And...the world will be a better place for EVERYONE if it operated off altruism. God bless all those people out there fighting for people's lives and rights to make the world a better place.
