Thank you for the video! The explanation of the techniques und your positioning are very good! It is very informative, and Arnes riding looks so good. You can see, that it is more important to bring the horse in the better position, than to be a very tricky swordfighter. It is so instructive!
You are welcome Thilo! Arne especially is both a great rider and fencer and you can really see how his superior skills make it tricky for me to land a hit or even come close enough.
I ride for polo and have practiced HEMA for 16 years, and I've wanted to do rossfechten for a long time. But I can' find any credible people doing it or willing to teach it. That winding through after the bind is very Talhofferish BTW. Also, have you looked into the 18th-19th century Napoleonic era cavalry manuals? There is a lot of interesting stuff in them about fencing from horseback.
Hi! Yes, I happen to do Napoleonic reenactment, Red Lancers. :) We've experimented a bit with 19th century sword and lance techniques, but it's a work in progress. Where are you located? Perhaps I can recommend someone. :)
I know a couple of groups in the USA, unfortunately none of them around your area. If you would consider travelling to Europe, it might be worthwhile to attend Arne Koets' Rossfechten Symposium in Germany. It's the world's leading event on all things Rossfechten, and some of the best riders and fencers from around the globe will be present. :)
Really informative thankyou.
Thanks for sharing this! It helps appreciate the (huge) difference between current interpretations of Blossfechten & Roßfechten. Beautiful mounts too!
thanks , i am quite proud of my boys
mounted stuff is different than on foot, yet this style works kinda fine for me on foot too
