Man...Patrick you just inspired me to come up with a different approach to the bridge. I'd been going to very similar "places" and disguising it with rhythmic variation. No more! Thanks! You guys are killin it!
I like how the pianist carries the tune so well. Just another reminder to play jazz and you have know the tune deeply and completely, not to mention be a master of time
Hi Patrick, I enjoyed your playing. Again a magical interaction with a virtuoso in the piano. Really inspiring! . The room acoustics help make an excellent recording. Thank you for sharing this!
inner urge is def one of the most fun standards to play on imo, started learning it beginning of this year! y’all sound incredible together, love watching your duos! i loved cherokee with suenaga-san as well :)
This tune is great for revealing how different players think. That Syos sounds really good for you and you have developed more on it since you first played it. I also have a custom Syos and for me it is home. You two sound wonderful and put a smile on my face!!
absolutely love this Patrick and Miles! great duo. love playing over Inner Urge. i did an arrangement where the main A section would be 3 bars of 4/4 and one of 3/4, and then the last 8 would be divided into four bars of 4/4 and the last four arpeggios would be in 3/4. it was surprisingly smooth.
Fabulous fabulous my brothers 🙏🏽 Saxophone keyboard duo yay!! Brings to mind the duos of Archie Shepp and Abdullah Ibrahim, and with Horace Parlan. Duos forever !! And Always remember Don Cherry and Ed Blackwell ☮️
Thank you for this! Beautifully done! The only thing that ruins it a bit is that damn microphone in the way. I enjoy watching your fingers fly! Patrick Bartley & Miles Lennox so talented!!
Hey man thanks for the advice! I totally learned this out of "the book", for sure! And I'll be sure to take it down the octave! Really saving me here, thanks dude. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@@PatrickBartleyMusic I don't know about "the book" but Joe Henderson is who you learn it from. Period. Take what down an octave? You played it well (up the octave).
Good playing, it seems like the pianist is almost challenging the sax player with his comping and grinning, which would be annoying if his playing wasn't so interesting. Not everyone can pull that off. Well played Miles you are a serious talent on the piano! Thanks for playing the melody correctly on Alto...not sure about the dancing. Inner Urge is no mean feat. Respect.

One of my favorites by Joe; and you did just great with it! Jerry Bergonzi takes a good stab at it also on tenor.
Really creative playing by Miles! Never a dull moment.

Loved this duo performing a truly great jazz standard. Thank you both.

Beautiful, man!
Absolutely beautiful, man!
This is giant
hell fuckin yea
I can hear Elvin and Jimmy playing behind this.
Thank you for this! Beautifully done! The only thing that ruins it a bit is that damn microphone in the way. I enjoy watching your fingers fly! Patrick Bartley & Miles Lennox so talented!!
Bravissimo! What mic are you using? WA 47 Jr?
Does anyone know which mouthpiece this is?
You two should also check Joe and Kenny Wheeler's solos on TH-cam with Big Band. Wheeler so melodic unperturbed centered yet edgy AF.
Males seems to be having a grand old time!
The original piece is tenor sax, but you played it on alto sax.
I applaud your courage.
Everyone learns this because it is the hardest one in the book. He takes it up, as written in the key. You can play that down an octave.

Real ones know the meta on alto on this tune is to play up the octave on the bridge, it goes way harder. Pats playing is sublime

You played it well (up the octave).
@@QuadriviumNumbersIt... was clearly sarcasm. Lol
Nah going up that octave is crae, I remember playing this tune back in the day funkified, love this record, thanks for sharing
3:00 sounds like that Barry Harris chord warmup with the moving 7ths lol.
Ridiculous playing from both of you
Isane and her sister
