    Hello Diana, please make a video on how you do alterations with a projector once you get comfortable with it. That is THE one thing that stops me from buying a projector. I have length and size modifications to do practically on all patterns. Love ALL your videos btw. You inspire me to sew when I see all your beautiful makes 😁

    So excited to see you using a projector, Diana! I have the Alvar 9000 ceiling mount one projecting to the floor. It was an affordable way to see if I liked this technique but I’m thinking I’d like to save up for a short-throw instead.
    The initial setup and calibration was a pain but now I’m really seeing the benefits. One caveat though is when I need to inverse the lines so they are white cut lines that can show up on a dark fabric. There are some free apps to do this but I haven’t quite figured them out yet.

    I adore my mini projector. I love it so much that I just purchased an ultra short throw Epson to use on my kitchen table so that I can use my large mat. We will see how that goes setting it up. The mini projector was less than $100 including the mount and HDMI cord. The Epson used was $100 with a mount.

    So glad that you finally switched. I have been waiting on you Diana! Since your patterns are from E&M, I had always wondered why you were using printed patterns. I am exciting to go on this journey with you. I have recently installed a projector myself but haven't yet used it. With your inspiration and "hand holding" me through this process, of course I will feel more confident watching you do it with me! Can't wait!

    Looks totally cool and would save a lot of money on A0 printing or on printer ink! However, I’d project onto a large roll of paper, trace it out, because I always have to adjust my patterns for my 5’2” height with a short waist and pear shaped body… plus I love to be able to hack my patterns😊. Thanks for making it look so easy!

    I bought an Epson UST 455Wi from ebay 2 years ago and have tried so many times to get it calibrated and although I follow all the tutorials, it just won't square up. I haven't tried for at least a year because it is so frustrating. diana how did you mount the projector to the tv stand? do you find using the adobe program to configure the projector pattern pieces on the material works well enough or is there other software that is recommended? Hi! There is a new, easy way to calibrate now. It is free to use. You can go to www.patternprojector.com and download the app. Then it’s very quick to calibrate. You drag the corners to match your mat, enter how big your mat is (example 24” x 36”), then you check the lines.

    Diana I’ve been dabbling into the world of grading/shortening etc via affinity designer directly within the Ellie Mac projector file. But when I try to export the pdf to open into adobe it says it can’t be exported. I think maybe because it is password protected? Is there any way projector sewists can do this within the file or no?

  • @sus8e462
    @sus8e462 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love the idea... But I have to alter for FBA, grade a bit between sizes, and shorten. So even if the pattern files let you alter, suspect it's a steep learning curve & investment.... Though still interested in this process!

    • @gerriebell2128
      @gerriebell2128 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are lots of videos about using projectors for sewing, with videos on how to modify patterns using software, and how to do simple things like adjust for length. The nice thing about using a projector is that if the digital pattern has layers, you can hide size lines you don’t need and show sizes you do need. Then you can grade between sizes as you cut. For the FBA it’s only the front bodice you need to modify? You could project and cut the fabric for all the other pieces, trace the front bodice onto paper, make the FBA then use the altered pattern piece to cut that out of your fabric. It would still save you time messing with only one paper piece. There are videos on how to “clone” a garment and create a digital file from it. You could use that method to “clone” and digitize your newly-altered FBA-done bodice front, too, so you only need to do that once. If you were super ambitious you could learn how to do an FBA digitally in software like Affinity Designer, Inkscape, or Illustrator. Up front yes it’s a bunch of time. But it would be an investment in future time saved, and less physical space needed for storing patterns.
