The bow in the plastic at the center is why using the chassis as a reference surface doesn't work to square up the axes. If it becomes square enough, then it's just a matter of luck.

when I try calibrating the P2 the mirrors, the hole in one of the burns is extremely big. Can you help?

Hey Cindy! For me, the big hole was because the tape was catching on fire. Try using two layers of tape. That helped me.

Sam’s channel did it a different way. Y’all used the same blocks, but different methods. What’s the difference in methods?

His method you take tension off the belts (if I remember right) by loosening some screws. He mentions it’s what he came up with and an unofficial way to calibrate (no hate on Sam, I like his stuff). The method I use is the official method given to me by xTool that allows the gantry to move independently from the motor by releasing the shaft from the coupler. I found it to be really easy and effective. I adopted his use of the setup blocks as they are a great way to avoid any potential inaccuracy the laser module might introduce if the case of the module isn’t installed perfectly square to the gantry… it basically removes that as a potential problem as it’s hard to determine if the module is squarely mounted.

Mine is making a grinding noise.

Yikes! You can open the back and see if anything got caught up in the motors. If one of those clay packets burst during shipping that might cause some weird symptoms but you might want to reach out to xtool and see what they have to say about that. Mine is quiet.

      @@WoodNerds human error. I didn't remove the 2nd screw clips UNDER x

A useless piece of information. Those "setup blocks" are called 1 2 3 blocks because they are 1" thick, 2" wide and 3" long. They are very handy in the workshop for adjusting and setting up many pieces of equipment. Stumpy Nubs had a good video on them and their uses.....if any one is interested. Great example of their uses in your video...now has something else to check on my P2...thanks for a fine explination.

Thanks for the finer details George! Stumpy Nubs is a great source for information! I appreciate you watching and sharing! Hope this increases the accuracy and output of your P2!
