This was extremely helpful as I did not know about the laser calibration tool while setting up! My laser did indeed need a little bit of help reaching the center so I ran the tool and it's much better now! After that though, I'm still not getting any burning out of the laser module itself! Having a hard time figuring out the issue on my brand new machine :(
I figured out that the software didn't auto-set the power parameters for my materials. It was set to 1% for everything!! No wonder nothing was burning XD A bit annoying that it doesn't set it up for you.
We’re really struggling to get ours calibrated. I’m not sure if it’s new software but it’s asking for 3 optical path tests which require to make adjustments to each of 3 mirrors and then ends up with the first being off again. Customer service has been no help either. It’s become super frustrating! Do you only need to do one test in this version of the software?
same, I've spent hours on it today. The first dot was a little off, so it had me move to the back, adjust that one, then the one that feeds into this mirror, then when I go to pulse for the first/last one - zero marks. Nada. Nothing on the tape or the housing. At this point I've screwed ever adjustment on that front mirror corner so much that I don't know what to do since I have no idea where I have ended up. The other two spots to put tape and check are still fine, it's just the beam refracting out of the last corner and over to the laser head that doesn't want to do anything in any direction to appear like it's passing the beam to the laser head. I'm done for the day after 6-8 hours on this. I'm not a novice by any means either. I've calibrated plenty of other machines manually. I have no idea what the heck this one is trying to lead me to with all these steps when the first beam was only a little off.
@@EclecticLauren have you tried updating the software? The newest version has a much more simplified process and that’s how we were able to move forward. Such a pain the butt!
@@janethbetancourt141 yep, fresh install in the past 72 hours since unboxing. I can check again, but I have since lost two of the springs that hold the little rods that change the direction to focus the laser beam and am waiting to see if I can purchase more. Thank you!
@@janethbetancourt141 me too. I've got a M1 Ultra and accessories all still sitting here in the boxes bc I needed this one in place before I moved more things around to give it a "home". And if you want some crap CS - buy a Glowforge. LOL
Hey I am trying to align my laser calibration but my 1.5mm hex tool is not latching on the locking mechanism for the horizontal adjustment… I tried turning the mirror thinking maybe I unlocked it but nope it won’t move.. any idea why I can’t unlock the locking mechanism?
I tried running the materials cut test card you showed and the laser head came all the way down onto the 3mm basswood board and dragged it around the laser bed… What am I doing wrong?
Yes Sir! Gentlemen’s approach! No BS or frills! Don’t need sparkles and glitter! Thanks for the help!
You bet! Thanks for checking it out!
I see your camera didn't capture the full work area (top inch or so missing) - were you able to fix that?
Thanks you helped me out with the question of the ajustmend and settings, got from you now what i need to know, thanks a lot.
No problem 👍
Cool video thanks. I just set up my P2 today. Can’t wait to try it out
Nice! You’ll love it!
Great Video Thanks for this

Nice machine, you'll need a bigger workshop now! Looking forward to see all your planned projects!
Thanks!

Is this an easy machine to use as a beginner? Also I’m considering buying a second hand unit would that be wise?
Definitely a good machine for a beginner. Are you able to inspect the used machine before purchasing or is it located too far from you?
@@LastLegWoodworks thankyou for that I’m able to inspect and they have been helpful said will show me cuts etc aswell.
Might be worth a look if the savings are substantial. An in person tutorial is worth something too!
Good luck!

Thtst hard to say, does it look like the hex on the locking screw is damaged?
Did u use an extraction fan with it or just the stock
Im just using the built in fan and it runs through about 4 feet of flexible hose. has plenty of exhaust force.
One thing that no one else has measured is the dpi/kerf. Would be really great if you could make some measurements.
Interesting. I will definitely look into that. Thanks for watching!
It's about .15 total. So .065 each edge you can just lightly tap it in
@@hacksawjimthuggin7411 Thank you. Not bad at all for a 55W CO2 laser.
Bro!!!!! If you can’t put your his together without someone idk. It’s was the easiest thing to do by myself
So when I calibrate my laser dot is big not small like yours in there a setting to make it small?
I've been thinking about this one. That strange and I'm not sure. Luckily xTool has great customer service. I'm sure they could help.
@@LastLegWoodworks I had that as well. I done a test engeave on some old wood I had lying around and there were no issues. It engraved properly

do an aimed measure on the material this should auto calculate your distance for the laserhead.
Aimed-measure is located to the right next to thickness the + with a box around it. Once selected touch your material and it will auto calculate.
Thank you so much!

Unable to Calibrate, doesn't seem to fire. any suggestions?
I’m sorry, I don’t know what could cause this. Xtool has great customer service though. Give them a shout.
