As a day one player, everything shown was both nostalgic and surreal. There were definitely a lot of things that I'm super thankful was changed, but like the Klee "march", there were things I wish they kept. I do admit that I never knew about the AR42 Ayaka thing, but I did know about the "chest respawn" shenanigans.
and some still believe that chests respawn... because going back to a region and seeing a random chest when their collection rate is already at 100% (when the devs made it so you don't literally have to open up ALL the treasure box for completion)
Klee "march" was from beta. It never made it to the live game. AR42 thing was share around as a joke . There are certain group of player that was gaslighted into believing it but for most player they know it is a joke
I actually was gaslighted into thinking that the chests respawned. After all those fakes about respawning chests, there were a few chests in my world that I was 100% sure I had collected before 😭
Fun fact....the Crucible event (the one we had to pay resin to collect rewards)...it got so much bad reviews they included it being destroyed by Klee at the end of Albedo's character demo...so the device or event not returning is canon
I started playing only a few days after the game released, but I never did the Crucible event. I dunno if I was too late or just didn't realize it was going on, but I heard so much about how bad it was. So my first event was Unreconciled Stars, and while we still had to spend resin there, it was kinda worth it.
I remember the crucible event, it was definitely an experience lol. I got one friend to help, along with two randos. It had major lag issues and I remember one of the objectives you needed to do to progress (picking up elemental orbs) would bug out for different players and the bug seemed to last the whole round. So when you were affected, you’d need to rely on everyone else to complete the round (and you also wouldn’t be able to make progress towards one of the event challenges whenever you were bugged, bc it tracked your individual participation towards that bugged objective across rounds). It was their first attempt at a co-op event in Genshin so it understandably had the most issues and thankfully they took the feedback and improved performance drastically after that event concluded
I was amazed how crazy different Genshin was since the game came out, I think since we already have Star Rail, imagine how Star Rail is like in the next 3 years like how Genshin is now 😳😳😳
6:38 I remember my first time in co-op, where some people joined my world and did the Anemo Hypostasis with me. When the drops were on the floor, I was like reluctant for them to pick it up- I never knew that the materials were just for me😭 24:27 A lot of players before 1.2 (Including me) tried to take a shortcut through Dragonspine- that was pain. Trying to walk that way a thousand times and getting lost before realizing that you have to go around Dragonspine was torture 💀
Wish my first time coop was like that, but it was a Crucible event coop where they kicked me out because I brought Qiqi. Never touched coop since then.
A shame they didn't mention the food delivery event, scara harbinger reveal, the whole backlash with Zhongli after his release, which led to the rework for shields and geo characters in general, the missing/surprise Hu Tao banner, which also led to the infamous Homa banner, and, of course, the first lantern rite cutscene crashing for so many mobile players.
I actually really liked the food delivery event. I think most players disliked it? Randomly i just thought they should bring that back a few days ago xd
@@yohann1252 but that's the thing. It wasn't even just one delivery that had that restriction. It was at least 2-3. The only ones I saw that had no problem whatsoever with it, were the ones that placed portable waypoints at all of the spots. That's actually what saved me for the last one. I had one by the geo hypo cuz I was farming it, and that last one, you couldn't get affected by the elements and couldn't get into combat.
@@BlackTigr i had no portable waypoints and managed to do them all. i think i had like 1 second or so left for one of them and sometimes i had to redo them but in the end it was a really unique and fun challenge imho.
It's crazy to think that it has been three years and counting until the end of the story but genshin impact improved a lot tbh, i still remember the pre register, there were no guides, no interactive map, no leaks, the hoyolab forums was just simple, everything was just new like you were a caveman, fascinated by the story, the graphics, the things to do and interact, it was just an amazing experience back then. It really helped me get through the quarantine lock down, and back then, the genshin impact channel had only a thousand subscribers and wasn't verified. Time passes quickly, and here we are. The story and lore hooked me and I learned a lot of new words and terms, as well as improving my grammar on English, the rewards were somewhat fair and there is no lose situation for me, even though I lost pity, so that's one reason why it's so special to me. Another reason is that even though the loot drops were harsh for farming and leveling up characters, weapons, and artifacts, it was a challenge and it gave me critical thinking to what to prioritize. I just have to think about how awesome and good of a character that was like for example i lost pity and got jean but actually jean is an op character, each to their own abilities and functions on other characters. The music, particularly the ost, never fails to hit the mark and consistently moves you. The fanarts and official artwork were both incredible. The two patches gave me some time to fully explore mondstadt and liyue and 100% the exploration progress, + there were no interactive map back then so i had to scan the whole region but it was fun tbh even though the time spent was huge
24:30 He perfectly described the feeling I had when I came to Liyue from Mondstadt. It genuinely made me tear up, there's just something so magical about it that made me love Genshin so much ❤
Although I just started last year, I felt that too unlike other new players that explore liyue before even finishing the mondstadt archon quest. I was so excited going through dawn winery and passing through stone gate and the music started changing AAAHHHH THE FEELS!! I just stood there and started gazing at wangshu inn before going down and start opening the statue there.
As someone who started in 1.0 (i'm from october 2020) this was indeed very nostalgic to me. 120 resin cap, "chest respawn" hoax, dragonspine being unavailable, Venti and Klee on the banner (i got klee because i don't have enough pity left for venti) using amber for puzzle, and ehe de nandayo meme. Though some didn't came across for me, like the very first co-op event because my ar didn't fulfilled and i was busy exploring mondstadt and liyue, and the Ayaka ar 42 rumor since i don't know the game too much.
i also started in october during 1.0 it was the exact same for me except i knew about the free ayaka rumor so nostalgic yet it happened only 3 years ago
Started playing 10/1/2020 4 days after the game came out I remember not building Amber or Lisa cos I was told they they where temp characters and we would have to roll for them Dragonspine was a PNG
We're almost at 4.0 and that's still crazy to me. As a 1.0 player, this brings back a lot of memories; however, strangely enough, the first thing that comes to mind to me in 1.0 is Xiangling's infamous bell sound that played during her walk/running animation that got removed in 1.1 -- I didn't even know it was an issue to a lot of people. Speaking of 1.1, I am also one of those OG pre-buff Zhongli mains that got kicked and bullied out of co-op; back then, when people kick you out of the team, the game says, "You have been kicked." Ouch 😂
@@xlightninghawk6360 really? I thought it was only Xiangling. I can't remember if YaoYao's bell sound now is the same bell sound, but all I know it's not as annoying. 😂
23:10 During 1.0, Mondstadt Archon Quests were fully released as it was the Prologue Chapter. As for the Liyue Archon Quest, only Chapter I: Acts I and II have been released. Players that have completed the Archon Quest in 1.0 would have just finished preparing the Rite of Parting and dining with Zhongli as Ganyu informs you that Ningguang wishes to see you at Third Round Knockout. When Version 1.1 was released, the final Act of Liyue Chapter was also released, culminating with the fight against Childe and Osial as well as the revelation that Zhongli was Morax. This was the reason why Tartaglia and Zhongli were also the featured 5-stars of the Version.
Man this hits the nostalgia HARD. I remember being really annoyed because I couldn't use Keqing for expeditions for the talent as she was my main. Also the artifact and boss drops were so much fun because you would just pick up everything but the legendary and it was basically a mini-gacha
One thing he didn’t mention in the vid was that back in 1.1, Zhongli’s dialogue about the current Dendro archon being the youngest one in the story, back then he referred to the archon as a “he”, and obviously they then decided to change it to female later and also went back to redo that line. If you can find any footage of the Liyue archon quest in 1.1 (right before the Traveler sings to a flower when we met Ganyu the second time) then you should see what I’m talking about.
The dendro archon was actually not changed to a she later, in orignal chinese all references to the dendro archon used gender neutral terms, it was a bad translation on localizations that made it say "he" who then had to back track when mihoyo finally revealed the dendro archon was female.
@@Wanderer_Creative14 lol but they weren't, we know there's only every been two dendro archons and both were female. Now Deshert did get offered the seat first, but he turned down Celestia so it ended up going to Rukkadevata.
5:22 Not only did things cost the same and there was no condensed Resin, but the weekly bosses also did not have their 3/3 per week discount for 40 resin each, meaning ALL of them cost 60 at the time so you couldn't do that battle pass mission in one go. Also, one of the battle pass missions was to farm 100 resources from Mondstadt, and another asking for 100 resources from Liyue
I've played genshin since its first week (I started three days after launch) and this vid made me remember stuff I wanted to remain forgotten lol. The worst part for me was when I needed to farm weekly boss materials from stormterror and dream solvents weren't a thing. I went eight consecutive weeks without getting the one material I needed.
I remember playing around when it first came out, on my old phone, didnt know what the hell to do after stealing the harp cause i didnt pay attention, gave up, 3 years later after getting my new phone and downloaded this game not realising i played it before, been having a massive great time, learning so many things to improve my gameplay. Def one of the best games i have ever played
As someone who played genshin when it launched in 1.0 I can proudly say that things were pretty different. Spiral abyss wasnt painful, and we had no resin (still dont really have any) And we only had Liyue and Monsdadt! How crazy is that.
My most nostalgic moment will always be 3 things. -Listening to "A Sweet Smile" whilst exploring Mondstadt (I was an Amber main until the Childe fight) -The calm, nostalgic music when you're being introduced to the wishing screen (Listen to it whilst viewing the official Genshin Impact website with every character) -Finally, the Dori demo. The Dori demo was my introduction to Genshin Impact and made me instantly hooked. I loved the character asthetic, the theme, the combat and the artstyle. I still have "Thank You for Your Generous Purchase" in my spotify to this day. Unfortunately she was benched not too long after I got her but I'm happy to have simply obtained her in the first place. The one thing I will miss has and forever will be my first introduction to the game. When you arive stranded on that beach, when you reach your first statue, meet Amber, everything the later half of the video mentions I will never be able to relive quite the same. Regardless, thank you Genshin for this wonderful experience and I hope to see Genshin through until the end!
Even though Genshin impact has been through a lot of drama. Before i took a break from it i always liked playing the game and enjoying the storyline and characters. Can’t wait to come back once Fontaine releases.
I wasn't on release, i started playing since 1.1 Tartaglia's banner, but still this video brings me back some nostalgic vibes. Thanks Bran for this reaction
I started playing on January 18th, 2021 and I loved it so much. I remember going downstairs, hooking up my ps4 and playing while my dad watched and asked me questions to help him understand it. I miss how surreal it was.
I downloaded Genshin day one, I was already a fan of Honkai, so I was excited for it for quite a while before it got released. I got absolutely addicted, got to Liyue quick, and even got Venti and Klee on their original releases. I miss those days. I don't play anymore because I think that Genshin suffered a lot from feature creep, there's just way too much shit going on to the point where if you fall behind for a month it's extremely overwhelming to get back into the swing of things. Got too stressful for me after a certain point
16:22 About the “free 5 star”, Genshin is the only mobile game I know doesn’t have a “pick-up” system for their permanent banner… every single other mobile game I know have a somewhat system to boost the permanent banner rate. Either something like after certain pulls you can choose a 5 star character from the permanent banner or a selected rate up for the character you want during the new year event from the permanent banner. Ohh.. even Star Rail have that for permanent banner😂
i started genshin December 2020 (2 months after release) and now its so different. its amazing how much the game progressed, like we already in Fontaine already which we predicted will be like in 5 years
for me the thing that i would wish would return are co-op events ... i feel like we had more fighting co-op events in the past, the alchemy one, the star one with Mona and Fischl, the one in Dragonspine with the Cryo Regisvine ... i miss those
"Sending characters into expedition make them unplayable in-game" --TRUE! This was what made me stay far away from expedition because I didn't have many characters back then. I was surprised when I came back and found that I can use the characters I put on expedition, and I thought that maybe my memory was just faulty. I never figured they changed it while I was away. EDIT: IDC what ya'll say. DILUC IS STILL S-TIER FOR ME. Him and Kaeya were and still are some of my and my sibling's favorite. Screw meta. Takes away the fun in the game.
OMG THE NOSTALGIA; the slow download, the venti artifact chaos, the genshin tier list, the first coop event where my social anxiety was tested (lmao), everything. i played genshin weeks after the release and my god i spent a whole lot of time on that game :')))
1.0 really was a different era... the resin troubles and the artifacts flying up when you finished domains.... memories... painful memories, really, considering some of the artifacts would get stuck in that little void where the tree roots were :')
That nostalgia! I’m nearly a day one player. I started one day after launch because the download took so damn long I didn’t expected that 😂 I love this ride through nostalgic moments and memories. I remember nearly any of them. And to see that the game improved in many ways. Not that I’m happy with every decision Hoyo made, but that’s normal I would say. I’m excited to see where the journey will lead us to. What awaits us in the next years!
Instead of walking to Liyue like a normal person, I decided that the quickest way was through dragonspine (I joined in 2022). On my way to Liyue, I died so many times trying to make it to Liyue lol
I registered at 1.1 but only started playing consistently at 1.6. But real life got in the way and just got back when it was 2.3. Been consistently here since then and am now waiting for Fontaine
realizing that there are probably more "new players" rather then OG players. It felt so weird to read comments that goes "what? I never knew about this" on the thing you've always known about ; the things that felt like it should be basic knowledge. looking back on it, it felt like a fever dream. It felt even more of a fever dream since it was during a pandemic while i was in my final year of my school. I cant imagine what its like being a new player nowadays.. seeing how big the map is would feel too overwhelming for my old self. Ahh good times :') I feel like an old person HAHAHA
There is a lot about 1.0 Genshin I’ve forgotten, but 120 Resin is something I could never forget. Also, there’s a lot of stuff from the beta I never saw being shown in this video, like that Mona outfit. 5:50 yeah I remember that
I still remember when Dragonspine got added and I was hyped for a new place.. Also the 1.2 Albedo event where they first introduced event weapons and I thought it would come back so I never fully refined the sword... How wrong I was
Yep. I was here during those days..... Venti users doing the vacuum troll is the main reason why we get the loot immediately now. Probably a lot of people reported about it back then... Back then if you brought Venti to a co-op party, you get immediately BOOTED OUT because it was such a common troll..... As for the furnace event, I literally had no idea what I was doing LMAO.
Also keep in mind that back then the archon quest was majorly tied to your AR level. I remember getting stalled throughout Liyue archon quest because of AR level (I started in 1.3). I believe at one point you needed to be AR 30 or 40 for the last part (I can't remember which sorry). Sometime around Inazuma is when I think they changed it and I feel like it was related to a side quest, not even the main archon quest, though it was probably both. So even though all of Liyue and Mondstadt's quests were available in 1.1 and 1.0, the content couldn't be sped through.
I remember grinding AR levels in 1.5 because I wanted to unlock the teapot but in order to do so you have to complete the Liyue AQ which I couldn't because I only started playing in 1.4 and my AR was to low. These days the AR requirements are so low... It feels weird 😂
The AR gating was literally only there to stop players from speedrunning the content too fast lol Nowadays the game has so much content for new players so they don't have to worry about that anymore
Gosh, I remember having to pick up every artifact in the domain. It's such a pain especially when Traveler was my only Anemo character. He literally pushes away the artifacts instead of compelling them in one place. But how nostalgic, I've been to genshin since Nov 2020, and the new update is looking good! Can't wait!
I remember when i was going to Liuye and i saw Wangshu inn and i remember the aw and excitement i felt. It felt like id just found some sort of fantasy house, and this was before i had finished the Mondstadt archon quest. I miss that😭
Man, I feel like making a new Genshin account just to experience the nostalgia. I've had my account since 1.0. I played one week after the game's release
17:01 In CBT 1 only Mondstadt existed (so you could get through the Mondstadt archon quest), and IIRC in CBT 2 and 3, the same archon quests as in release 1.0 were present.
I started in the very early versions, not remember which exactly and completed nearly all archon quests from Mondstadt and Liyue. There were some good things but I stopped playing for a few bad things they had, and casually returned in 3.0 to absolutely love the game. And yes, I had a few problems to log in for the first time.
ya being a 1.0 player was pain back in the day also cause the weapon banner didn't have a pity system it was changed thanks to our guy tectone for getting 36 wolf's gravestones on the homa banner
I started playing like 2 months ago and this is not nostalgia, this is my life x) Just a month ago I was afraid of looking in ruin guard's general direction 😂
I remember the game releasing way back in 2020 and I never got to try it simply because I though that the game was only for mobile. I really wanted to try the game but it took me a year to find out that it was cross-platform available since release. I was so mad that I wasn't able to join the hype and pain of day 1 players. The amount of missed events stories and weapons just makes me sad. I made a vow not to repeat the same mistake so I joined Star Rail on release
1.0 had the entire mondstadt quest AND the first two acts of the Liyue quest. 1.1 had the final act of the Liyue quest. and as mentioned in the video, 1.2 was the release of Dragonspine. which is also why it is absolutely beyond us old players that new players go through Dragonspine to get to Liyue 😂 most of us were caught up on Liyue content when Dragonspine released.
You may laugh but back then (I've been playing since day 1 of Genshin) Physical Fischl and Physical Zhongli (in 1.2 before the buffs) they carried hard bro, my physical Fischl deals almost the same DPS as my Eula now (sadly she's no longer Physical she's built for aggravate but anyways)
When I started Genshin, I was wondering how people got characters. So I got the starters and was so happy I have a full team. I met Jean and Diluc and rushed through Mondstadt’s archon quests and I went from “I can’t wait to finish so I can get Diluc and Jean” to “why am I not getting them” to “oh… I have to wish for them” 😂
I'm shocked that there was no word about how Barbara's EN voicelines were nerfed. That was one of the few things I liked about old Genshin before I stopped playing it (until I decided to return after seeing all the new waifus).
I too got into genshin randomly I was supposed to play Honkai Impact 3rd a game of theirs when their name was still miHoYo then I saw Genshin Impact and I got intrigued because open world. and I never known what Gacha was or what Pulls were, I'm glad I played genshin Accidentally since release, it was a good chance to play the game early UID is 80*****
when dragonspine released, i was in there for MONTHS. I wanted the wind glider because, at the time, i felt too weak to do the bounties (cause i was) so i naturally become really bloody good at navigating the mountain. Im now AR59, waiting for the next Lantern Rite update for this year, and i always get very gitty and excited when i can help a new player through dragonspine. I dont need the maps, learned that the hard way. I know all the Icicle spots, all the tablets for the Snow-Tombed StarSilver, the easiest way to take out the mountains three icicles (melt them as you go up, then drop down and interact once you're at the top) and i always managed to get them through in mostly one piece within an hour (maybe more if communication is hard)
Hi Branonline since you have reacted to this video will you be also reacting to the exploring mihoyo the past and present by the same creator (akashott) ?
you don't know how happy we were when they increased the resin😭 even if you all are asking for more now but it was such a great increase ps sorry i was one of those venti mains
Oh god, that takes me back through the memory lane. Genshin was wild and even developers didn’t know what they were doing with the events. And all the theories 😂.
23:51 bruh, I remember first time this guy was released. I was dilly dallying. Iirc, back then it was a whole event story not just a Razor story quest. It even involved Bennett or something (not entirely sure since this was long ago). I fought that wolf thinking "It'd be just like the other boss" and I hated myself for not having enough food.
I remember this, so new gacha players got baited to wishing on standard because it looked cooler compared to the limited venti/klee banner. They complained to mihoyo saying that it could be false advert or something along those lines.
This is such a throwback! I rerolled for venti and speedran like 90% of 1.0 in the first week and stopped playing before 1.1 came out. I would play once or twice a year for a couple of days but it wasn't until this year's Yelan banner that I started to play daily again til this day. What attracted me to genshin was the potential with the combat mechanics and open world. Once I basically finished most of 1.0 and realized that my best dps was spamming physical Razor with no synergies in my team build, I stopped playing and let the game build itself up with time. I'm very glad that Genshin got a lot better since release.
i've been playing since 9/27/2020 literally the night the game came out. i remember staying awake until the morning sun rerolling my account on the beginner banner for keqing. this video was incredibly nostalgic and i felt myself getting a little emotional at times. covid was one of the worst periods of my entire life and genshin was there for me when i needed a good distraction. i can't believe its nearly 3 years.
Hi Bran! This is so nostalgic for me. I've been playing since the game released! OMG, this feels so long ago! I also agree. Genshin is the first game that I've played that I didn't feel bored or tired of. Like ever! I have so much love for this game it's crazy! And I come from a time of playing Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic and several of the earlier FF games. I've even played MMORPGs but would always have to take a lot of breaks because I'd get tired or burnt out on them. I had no idea I'd fall in love with Genshin so much. I thought for sure after a couple of months I would want to try another game but no. I kept wanting to come back to it. I came for the story, the characters, the lore, the music- everything. BUT what really intrigued me was the even of Unreconciled Stars and as soon as I saw Scaramouche, I knew there was no way I was leaving this game. I was determined to stay and hoped one day he'd be a playable character. Wanderer came along two years later and I got my wish! But still, even getting him and a ton of new characters- the game still brings me joy, excitement and just gives me that emotional investment that I can't get with other games. ☺ (There was one long break I took during the Aloy release-it was mandatory and not something I could have avoided- so I never got her.) 4:56- Yes omg Yes!!!!!!!!!! That game took like a day to download!! That's not even joking, that is fact(at least on my end) I was so scared with it being so big, that my computer wouldn't be able to handle it. Thankfully, it could and then some. 6:00- Yes, the expeditions were TERRIBLE!! I had Keqing as a main, so imagine how many times I had to go without using her because she was on a 20 hour expedition! It was so crazy and I needed her 😭(She was the backbone of my team til Chongyun come along!) 6:23- I HATED co-op at this point because if someone had Venti, everyone's artifacts would get blown off the side of the domain and were lost! We couldn't get them back and we wasted all that resin just for some a-hole to blow them away. After having it happen enough times, I locked my fkin world and stopped doing doman co-ops with ppl. It pissed me off so much! 10:24 Yes! I loved the standard banner with Jean and Diluc. It somehow felt more important back then. I don't hate the current standard banner, but it doesn't have enough um 'presence' to it. 12:13 - Ah yes, the Crucible. I got to admit, me and my hubby had to carry our teams because some of them had NO idea how to play this co-op event! Also, yeah paying resin for event rewards was rough, I remember using primogems to restore my resin so I could pick up the rewards. Hard times. 😩 I don't treat Genshin as a Gacha, I treat it as an MMO RPG and love it! Shitty Diluc 14:51- I am so mad at myself for believing the chests respawned. I saw several videos about it and actually thought that it was true! 😅 What a time this was. All those damn videos convinced me the chest respawn was real. I still can't believe I fell for it! 24:45- I swear that Liyue music hits me every time. Sometimes, I will still tear up hearing it. It's so magical, and wholesome and just gives me so many feels. 24:59- This one still gets me. I had no idea at the time that Little Nine was dead until I played on another account and really read what she said about losing the book. It then occurred to me she died in that river. 😢 Wow...what a trip down memory lane! Thanks for this video, Bran. Also sorry for the long comment but the video just took me back to these memorable times ☺
I definitely felt nostalgia. I started playing Genshin 8th October 2020. And now I was reminded of how I didn't know what was happening, but I kept playing it, because 3D anime is cool. Beautiful girls too, you know...? And Paimon was so ho-
The things I remember: - 120 Resin (I didn’t notice it went up when it did cause I don’t think I spent it that much..) - Expeditions (I still send characters I don’t use on them out of habit) - Artifacts dropping on the floor - Host leaves everyone leaves (my friend did that to me) - Klee banner (my friend really wanted her, even spent money, and I got her for free) - Crescent Pike Xiangling (she still carries that thing cause I haven’t used her in a while) - Barbara supremacy (I used her in every team before I got Kokomi) - Elemental Crucibles (I didn’t play it, I thought they were scary, but I remember seeing them) - I believed chests respawned (but never bothered to check them cause I got chests during quests only) - I was scared of Ruin Guards (I stayed away from them) and that carried into other areas, I still call them all Ruin Guards even though they have different names - the confusing pity system (I didn’t know the specifics until recently, I just wished on every banner when I had enough and sometimes got characters lol)
i have played genshin on 4 different accounts now, one for each server, and all i have to say is that its funny how fast it is to do things like collecting geoculi again when you actually know what youre doing. but also, its fun to notice the changes theyve made since you first did it as you play through it all again
Okay Bran and everyone here, but especially Bran. I JUST got back into Genshin - IMMEDIATELY overwhelmed. Time limits on banners, events, etc. Doing all my daily chores (commissions) and what not. When you said "I treat it like an open world RPG with a little gacha on the side" I thought "...H-....Holy shit. That's what I NEED to do!" And honestly? It's worked for me. I don't care about timed events anymore, getting all the characters. I take what I have, see how I can make it work through the challenges. Go fishing. And it's been a blast. Your words have helped solidify my being able to break away from "meta" mindsets and just play at my own pace.
About the chest respawn, another popular theory is new chest spawn as AR go up, sometime they spawn very close to the one people have gotten or spawn in place that people have gone through. Which cause the misconception of respawning chest.
I went back to that area in 25:07 a few days ago and realize you can challenge the ruin machines again 💀 it literally prompted me to start the fight when I got near it lol
And 4.0 is gonna be another game changer update again, the tradition about patch X.0 always have the biggest hype ever for every year, and still the same until now, really love to see it
Dont forget that when the game released, people were rerolling like crazy because back then it was really easy to do and everyone want either Keqing or Diluc. I remember spending one full day just to try to get keqing, rerolling like crazy and got nothing until i got Diluc and moved on instead. It's been almost 3 years and Keqing still hasnt come home wtf.
I think i saw a glimpse of this early stuff back then , but was busy with uni work, so didn't start strong. I remember dragonspine and liyue not being there
Man, 1.0 vibes were so adventurous and new! Leaving Mondstat to hit up those old ruins with nothing but a LV 5 Traveler, Amber, and Noelle as back up. Beautiful
Omg thank you Bran for that take on how you see genshin as an open world rpg with a side element of gacha. It is so true... I will definitely watch you more now
22:53 YEEEESSS... we didnt have anything to do about a week the game out. (my case was 2 weeks I was taking it easy and enjoying the scenery) but when I reached the end of the content and all the exploration was done, there was.... a lot "when the new patch comes" Ahh the good ol' days :3
Seeing Signora for the first time*
New Players: Woahh... She looks so cool!! I would love to see her playable!
Old Players: Yeah....
I hope fatui eula doesn't have the same fate...
@@SirAaronFox same
@@SirAaronFox she wont cus raiden shogun aint around

I came on aug 2022 and when I first saw her I said *what would her element even be*
As a day one player, everything shown was both nostalgic and surreal.
Also Amber dance
I actually was gaslighted into thinking that the chests respawned. After all those fakes about respawning chests, there were a few chests in my world that I was 100% sure I had collected before 😭
Also the ayaka "pantsu"
Fun fact....the Crucible event (the one we had to pay resin to collect rewards)...it got so much bad reviews they included it being destroyed by Klee at the end of Albedo's character demo...so the device or event not returning is canon
I started playing only a few days after the game released, but I never did the Crucible event. I dunno if I was too late or just didn't realize it was going on, but I heard so much about how bad it was. So my first event was Unreconciled Stars, and while we still had to spend resin there, it was kinda worth it.
I played it, it was fun. I miss co-op fighting events like that, it gives another flavour to co-op domains.
@@MoeRenai Also if you wound up in a group of Venti's the game would crash from all the Venti's bursting at the same time. It was horrible.
I didn't do it because I was scared of co-op lmao
I was amazed how crazy different Genshin was since the game came out, I think since we already have Star Rail, imagine how Star Rail is like in the next 3 years like how Genshin is now 😳😳😳
Honkai Impact release vs Honkai now: ...Still confusing AF
@@MomentaryPixels Story can be quite complex
Me want see Zenless Zone Zero when looking back.
@@ArchonKujoNot the story, i'm lvl 88 and still confused about builds, I look guides or the recommendations from the own game and that's it
maybe one day the Star Rail characters can even jump? lol
6:38 I remember my first time in co-op, where some people joined my world and did the Anemo Hypostasis with me. When the drops were on the floor, I was like reluctant for them to pick it up- I never knew that the materials were just for me😭
24:27 A lot of players before 1.2 (Including me) tried to take a shortcut through Dragonspine- that was pain. Trying to walk that way a thousand times and getting lost before realizing that you have to go around Dragonspine was torture 💀
Aww thats so sweet I bet everybody else rushed them 😂
@@GhostEmblemthey sure as hell did😭
Wish my first time coop was like that, but it was a Crucible event coop where they kicked me out because I brought Qiqi. Never touched coop since then.
I was thought the same thing with the artifacts hahaha i always wait
I remember walking through dragonspine- i didnt know we had a path to liyue through dawn winery, it was something else
I remember the ones who skipped zhongli ended up malding after the rework.
I actually really liked the food delivery event. I think most players disliked it? Randomly i just thought they should bring that back a few days ago xd
@@mulrafthey disliked it because when you get Wet in that one delivery it will cause you to fail
4 years
24:30 He perfectly described the feeling I had when I came to Liyue from Mondstadt.
@@AceeeeeAce Ahhh I felt that description ♥️
Seeing Liyue for the first time was really cool. I didn’t even know where it was and I turned and boom, there it was. I was amazed.
Im here with you as someone who also started in 1.0
i also started in october during 1.0 it was the exact same for me except i knew about the free ayaka rumor so nostalgic yet it happened only 3 years ago
Started playing 10/1/2020 4 days after the game came out
I remember not building Amber or Lisa cos I was told they they where temp characters and we would have to roll for them
Dragonspine was a PNG
We're almost at 4.0 and that's still crazy to me. As a 1.0 player, this brings back a lot of memories; however, strangely enough, the first thing that comes to mind to me in 1.0 is Xiangling's infamous bell sound that played during her walk/running animation that got removed in 1.1 -- I didn't even know it was an issue to a lot of people. Speaking of 1.1, I am also one of those OG pre-buff Zhongli mains that got kicked and bullied out of co-op; back then, when people kick you out of the team, the game says, "You have been kicked." Ouch 😂
Yeah Mona had that bell sound too, and I hated they removed it
@@xlightninghawk6360 really? I thought it was only Xiangling. I can't remember if YaoYao's bell sound now is the same bell sound, but all I know it's not as annoying. 😂
@@whalefraid yeah. like Mona was my first 5 star so i had her in 1.0, before they removed it. i just thought it was a nice detail
screams in 4.4
Almost 5.0 😭
Back then talent/weapon material domains would also drop random drops on sunday instead of being able to pick which one. Fun times.
That’s crazy
that made me wanna kms
Then = Diluc throws out a "Chicken."
Now = Sushang (HSR) literally throws out a giant chicken!
(Honkai Impact 3rd) Fu Hua = Chicken!
@@Defi4nc3s1h yeah Phoenix(Jingwei) Fu Hua battlesuit ULT, she is the chicken itself
The first time Beidou was referrenced it was also a "he", a brave and fierce pirate, was pretty surprised when it suddenly became female
The dendro archon was actually not changed to a she later, in orignal chinese all references to the dendro archon used gender neutral terms, it was a bad translation on localizations that made it say "he" who then had to back track when mihoyo finally revealed the dendro archon was female.
Well what if i told you the previous Dendro archon was a male?
@@Wanderer_Creative14 lol but they weren't, we know there's only every been two dendro archons and both were female. Now Deshert did get offered the seat first, but he turned down Celestia so it ended up going to Rukkadevata.
*Not me unlocking all the Statues and waypoints even before finishing the Mondstadt Archon Quests* 💀
Spiral abyss wasnt painful, and we had no resin (still dont really have any)
And we only had Liyue and Monsdadt! How crazy is that.
"I just use the compass to find the Oculi."
Yea, about that... there were no Chest Compass and Oculus finder in 1.0.
My most nostalgic moment will always be 3 things.
-Listening to "A Sweet Smile" whilst exploring Mondstadt (I was an Amber main until the Childe fight)
-The calm, nostalgic music when you're being introduced to the wishing screen (Listen to it whilst viewing the official Genshin Impact website with every character)
-Finally, the Dori demo.
So how is your Fontaine experience?
@@infiternity6586 it was fun. :)
How was chenyun vale expirience?
16:20 Yeah! The developers actually liked that idea and gave players a free limited 5*......but not in Genshin ...
i think i know why everyone clicked this video. i am the same
Huge nostalgia burst of course. Except the covid part
mona ofc i hope i can lick her
The 120 resin

I wasn't on release, i started playing since 1.1 Tartaglia's banner, but still this video brings me back some nostalgic vibes. Thanks Bran for this reaction
The most memorable event for me is the Food delivery hahaha almost all players i saw got mad.
god i hate that event so much. You step on a puddle and your food gets thanos snapped
Oh god....I'd blocked that one out.
Damn, i never knew people got mad at that
For the old standard banner I love how it looks like Diluc is going to try and decapitate Jean but she will block it by simply turning around
I remember when you has less than 5k followers, your content has come a long way. So proud of you dude
15:08 this rumour spread cause new chests unlocked with each new World Level. What a time of madness it was back then.
I started playing on January 18th, 2021 and I loved it so much. I remember going downstairs, hooking up my ps4 and playing while my dad watched and asked me questions to help him understand it. I miss how surreal it was.
25:04 i fight those 3 ruin guards every day now and It's not enough to replace the terror they gave me back when I was starting out
I downloaded Genshin day one, I was already a fan of Honkai, so I was excited for it for quite a while before it got released.
You should watch more of his videos, he is very entertaining. I think he had another one that talks about everything from 1.0 to just before inazuma.
i started genshin December 2020 (2 months after release) and now its so different. its amazing how much the game progressed, like we already in Fontaine already which we predicted will be like in 5 years
for me the thing that i would wish would return are co-op events ... i feel like we had more fighting co-op events in the past, the alchemy one, the star one with Mona and Fischl, the one in Dragonspine with the Cryo Regisvine ... i miss those
"Sending characters into expedition make them unplayable in-game" --TRUE!
I started one day after launch because the download took so damn long I didn’t expected that 😂
I love this ride through nostalgic moments and memories.
5:50 yeah I remember that
The lightearted laughs and commens is what bought me. I don't know anything about you but I am already subbed.
WAIT IT’S CHANGED NOW????? it’s been ages since i played genshin so this is big news to me omg
wait you don't gotta do those dungeons anymore for each AR level? i remember dreading those lol
The AR gating was literally only there to stop players from speedrunning the content too fast lol
Nowadays the game has so much content for new players so they don't have to worry about that anymore
This is facts I was constantly met with an AR requirement to keep the story quest but its not a thing anymore
Can't wait!
yea people always forget Bennet was not liked, everyone hated the interrupt from his elemental skill and did not recognize his strength
He was also on expeditions 90% of the time.
24:44 That smile you made while watching this vid watching a vid about your first arrival at Liyue. We've all been there, that's genuine happiness.
ya being a 1.0 player was pain back in the day also cause the weapon banner didn't have a pity system it was changed thanks to our guy tectone for getting 36 wolf's gravestones on the homa banner
I started playing like 2 months ago and this is not nostalgia, this is my life x) Just a month ago I was afraid of looking in ruin guard's general direction 😂
I can still hear it's voice in my nightmares!
Ohhh my god i remember the unplayable characters during expeditions 😂 that made me stop doing them so I can keep playing my character!
“WHERE’D HIS CAKE GO DID HE SIT DOWN TOO HARD” omfg I almost spat out my coffee 😂😂
12:01 Barbara carried me so far until I got a better healer (Qiqi) and even afterwards for a bit which was until AR 45
The guy: You had too eat food because your team didn’t have a healer back then
Barbara: *Am I a joke to you?*
When I started Genshin, I was wondering how people got characters. So I got the starters and was so happy I have a full team.
I met Jean and Diluc and rushed through Mondstadt’s archon quests and I went from “I can’t wait to finish so I can get Diluc and Jean” to “why am I not getting them” to “oh… I have to wish for them” 😂
1.0 we had the m archon quest and the Liyue quest was introduced. 1.1 finished the Liyue questline, and then 1.2 was dragonspine.
I'm shocked that there was no word about how Barbara's EN voicelines were nerfed. That was one of the few things I liked about old Genshin before I stopped playing it (until I decided to return after seeing all the new waifus).
7:59 I’m pretty sure they changed it because they wanted to reuse the walk for other small models and it seemed to only fit Klee
I too got into genshin randomly
I was supposed to play Honkai Impact 3rd a game of theirs when their name was still miHoYo
then I saw Genshin Impact and I got intrigued because open world.
and I never known what Gacha was or what Pulls were, I'm glad I played genshin Accidentally
since release, it was a good chance to play the game early UID is 80*****
when dragonspine released, i was in there for MONTHS.
Hi Branonline since you have reacted to this video will you be also reacting to the exploring mihoyo the past and present by the same creator (akashott) ?
as a player from 1.0 the nostalgia and the flashbacks of every struggle just hits differently lmaoo
you don't know how happy we were when they increased the resin😭 even if you all are asking for more now but it was such a great increase
ps sorry i was one of those venti mains
Oh god, that takes me back through the memory lane. Genshin was wild and even developers didn’t know what they were doing with the events. And all the theories 😂.
That 120 resin was something I wish I never remembered 👁️👄👁️
But hear me out, venti's original burst looks more intimidating than his burst now.
Bruhhh I do not understand why Hoyo started changing the Standard Banner UI? The Jean and Diluc inclusion only makes it look more cool!
I remember this, so new gacha players got baited to wishing on standard because it looked cooler compared to the limited venti/klee banner. They complained to mihoyo saying that it could be false advert or something along those lines.
Yea, Jean/Diluc positioning makes the art look so good.
Why did I look at my ceiling and say oh it is😂 14:54

(There was one long break I took during the Aloy release-it was mandatory and not something I could have avoided- so I never got her.)
4:56- Yes omg Yes!!!!!!!!!!
It was so crazy and I needed her 😭(She was the backbone of my team til Chongyun come along!)
6:23- I HATED co-op at this point because if someone had Venti, everyone's artifacts would get blown off the side of the domain and were lost!
Hard times. 😩
I don't treat Genshin as a Gacha, I treat it as an MMO RPG and love it! Shitty Diluc
14:51- I am so mad at myself for believing the chests respawned. I saw several videos about it and actually thought that it was true! 😅
What a time this was.
Wow...what a trip down memory lane!
And Paimon was so ho-
The things I remember:
- 120 Resin (I didn’t notice it went up when it did cause I don’t think I spent it that much..)
- Expeditions (I still send characters I don’t use on them out of habit)
- Artifacts dropping on the floor
- Host leaves everyone leaves (my friend did that to me)
- Klee banner (my friend really wanted her, even spent money, and I got her for free)
- Crescent Pike Xiangling (she still carries that thing cause I haven’t used her in a while)
- Barbara supremacy (I used her in every team before I got Kokomi)
- Elemental Crucibles (I didn’t play it, I thought they were scary, but I remember seeing them)
- I believed chests respawned (but never bothered to check them cause I got chests during quests only)
- I was scared of Ruin Guards (I stayed away from them) and that carried into other areas, I still call them all Ruin Guards even though they have different names
- the confusing pity system (I didn’t know the specifics until recently, I just wished on every banner when I had enough and sometimes got characters lol)
i have played genshin on 4 different accounts now, one for each server, and all i have to say is that its funny how fast it is to do things like collecting geoculi again when you actually know what youre doing. but also, its fun to notice the changes theyve made since you first did it as you play through it all again
Am so glad for me for being a Day 1 player and still playing and loving this game till today
Travail is the reason I am still playing 3 years later.
THE BANK MADE ME SCREAM i remember all of this but the bank had such an impact on me for some reason
I still only send characters I don’t usually play on expeditions, cause my mind still thinks they’re gone.
Picking up the artifacts was a real pain.
The expedition thing was crazy. We all used to send Amber lol
(my case was 2 weeks I was taking it easy and enjoying the scenery) but when I reached the end of the content and all the exploration was done, there was.... a lot "when the new patch comes"
Ahh the good ol' days :3
