  • WWL Radio's Bobby Hebert returns to the SportsTalk desk to share his thoughts on the New Orleans Saints' 2024 draft class, which includes a player in Taliese Fuaga that he sees as a Day 1 starter -- and that's true whether he's at right tackle, left tackle or left guard. We also dive in on Kool-Aid McKinstry and Spencer Rattler, and explain how the Falcons made a bit of unintentional history in their pick of Michael Penix.

    Fuaga will start day one, likely at RT where he is most comfortable. Penning will get one more chance at LT, and Saldiveri should step in for our retired guard. Hopefully some of the later draft picks and UDFA will catch on. If Penning is a bust at LT- he should make a fine guard. He's huge, nasty and a mauler and he should be able to function in the interior.

    I remember Yellow Man back in the day. We got a new nickname for Spencer Rattler.

    I'm hopeful for Spencer. I haven't seen any highlights of him stepping up in the pocket and driving the ball from his back foot. Or passing in tight windows. I hope he can. Most of his highlights are roll outs and dumping passes over the D. Not saying he can't, but i want to see it first.

      I think him playing behind that awful line and his team being less talented than most of the teams he faced is gonna help him tremendously.
      Also, if this system is anything like we hope it’s gonna be, he has a chance to be special. He has all the tools. Just hoping the mental aspect of the game comes together

    We still laughing about the 💩bird's pick over here. 🤣🤣🤣 The excuse is Cousin's injury. So you pick a guy that blew his ACL twice. No knock on Penix. All knock on Terry.

    Taliese Fuaga is actually pronounced "Tally-essay Foo-unga" has that invisible N that a lot of Polynesian names have.

    Wish we could have gotten Patrick Paul at LT but Kool-Aid is good pick. Got to get better in the trenches.

    Could Rattler beat out Carr in camp? It'd be interesting.

    • @nickmessner700
      @nickmessner700 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, for two reasons. #1 The team is financially committed to Carr for at least the next two seasons, way too much money with no way out to bench him. #2 Carr is a better player at this point than Rattler. He's bigger, faster, more accurate, and most importantly more experienced.

    I’d rather take a shot with Spencer Rattler at 150 then to trade up to 12 for Bo Nix 😂 knowing Sean Payton like we do from the past 18 years and as competitive as he is I wouldn’t doubt he thought the saints were going to take Bo nix at 14 so he traded up 😂and maybe the Saints were and I might be wrong but I would not have liked the pick at 14 with all the needs we have and all the money we paid Carr I like what the Saints did although I’m still PO
    Mickey gave up a 3rd in the sp trade smh Mickey should never be allowed to handle any negotiations with sp , he’s to close to the guy , he’s given him his way about everything for so long I don’t think he can tell the guy no lol he should have waited for the John Gruden deal sp was not going back to tv and Denver’s new owner wanted sp and wasn’t willing to wait another year or two, Mickey got played on that deal but as bad as that was he should be thrown in the missippippi river for giving up anything much less a 3rd , hell we’ve come up with some damn good players in the 3rd round over the years smh
