      Faysal Yusuf I'm getting my Galaxy S8 next Thursday or Friday, and I can't wait! Bixby will be the number one feature on the phone, I will be using the most! Along side Voice Assistant, which is Samsung's screen reader for blind users, who I am and Android blind user. :-)

    I hated Bixby initially when I first got my GS8+ but after upgrading to the Note 8 and trying it out, I am impressed to say the least. It just keeps getting better and better. Bye bye Google assistant and hello Bixby :)

      @rileyretzloff8778 7 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      newyorksteelo why the hell would you "upgrade" from the GS8+ to the Note8? Sure, the Note8 has a few extra features, but you'd be insane to spend all the money and time just for that.

    • @newyorksteelo
      @newyorksteelo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      T-Mobile jump on demand program = Immediate ability to upgrade upon release of the Note 8. Barely spent a dime. Also, I come from the family of Note 5 and Note 7 users, Had both. Changed to the S8+ after the battery issue,on the Note 7 and now moved on to the Note 8. The Note 8 is so worth it. Its the absolute best phone and even makes the GS8+ feel awkward. Absolutely Worth the upgrade IMO.

    • @SuddyDoesGaming
      @SuddyDoesGaming 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Riley Retzloff why would he be insane? He's worked hard to earn the money he spends it the way he wants lol. I've gone from a GS7, iPhone 6s Plus, Moto X Pure then to note 8. Besides you sell your phone and get a good amount of money back put it towards the new device

    As an Australian I'm forced to either put on an accent or work elsewhere. Bixby needs to support multiple accents before it can consider itself a proper contender. I do love her features though. When they work.

      Crazy Clown says the clown. Honestly think what you want but she seriously doesn't understand everything. If you're a foreigner speaking English you'll generally enunciate better than a native speaker because we're lazy humans.
      Try doing an American accent and notice how much faster she works. And the larger words and especially words that are pronounced completely different due to the accent.
      Getting spiteful over software and someone's opinion is really telling of your personality.

    I.m Using Bixby on the s9 plus. Nothing very complicated as yet. It opens all apps I request, and the time date, says good morning, opens my contacts, adjusts volume and brightness. All easy, and hassle free. I like the fact, that it shows a small icon, when it is still listening and replying. And it is learning. I like it.

    I love reviews like this that are actually reviewed more than a few weeks to a few months other than just a first impression combined with a review and formulating a long-term opinion of it with that. You're one of the very very few people of Tech TH-camrs that I have watched who actually tested out Bixby and gave an honest opinion about it after using it for a somewhat extended period of time rather than those so-called reviews who would just shut down Bixby completely with their first impressions without giving it a try for awhile. Kudos to you, Jaime!

    This is Bixby's first 6 months and it is already doing amazing! Google Assistant (formerly G. Now) and Siri were both kinda meh in its first year. They have years of development and user data whereas Bixby is fresh. And for a fresh AI, she can do a lot of stuff others can't.

    I kind of ignore those unnecessary comments on sponsorship below. Personally, I feel Bixby is very useful, especially whenever my hands are on something else like chemicals, and it helps me out alot. The most useful part is that I could customised commands with a shortcut. That is absolutely fantastic. I hope it can be improve over the time, and catch up with Google assistant in terms of search and accuracy in recognising my commands. Cheers. =)

    I find Bixby very helpful. I am a Capt for a major airline. A lot of times I board an aircraft and it is cold and dark, thing on the craft has power, none of the lights and all systems are down. With that being said, it can be very dark inside, so I'll ask Bixby to turn on my Note8's flashlight. I have her set reminders, read/respond to a message, make a call, check weather and news. Plus a bunch of other commands that I setup in Bixby labs. Samsung did a really awesome thing when they came up with Bixby. I do not know what I like more or which I use more, the Spen or Bixbe. The Note8 is such a powerful smartphone.

    I'm told that unlike GA, you don't need an internet connection to use some of Bixby's voice activation commands to access local apps and generalized housekeeping functions within the phone... Bixby Labs sounds like having a built-in Tasker app already installed...Is all this true?

      Trenton Matthews - I was just curious about Bixby Labs more... You can do almost the same thing with GA for specialized internal functions via voice, but you have to install Tasker and another third-party app that bridges between GA and Tasker - Enough! I already have Tasker and am just getting into it via some of the more advanced commands that are reminiscent of Javascript - and I HATE JavaScript!

      Oh I've tried it! .. but google knows me much better! .. doesn't it freak you out that it learns from "what's on your screen" ["This is not your typical service that only works with what a server can provide, but instead is a far smarter system that can interpret what you have on the screen. "].. that shit brings up a red flag for me on privacy .. honestly, Google's bad enough .. and don't get me started about Facebook and their free privacy VPN!

      for an assistant to function, it needs to know you.
      If you are concerned about privacy - stop using all these services for "free" - no gmail, maps, google search, photos, drive etc

    • @EudemonyRom
      @EudemonyRom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      mike numpty you are talking about Google Services and not Bixby, which is Samsung's propriety AI assistant. They are similar. With the announcement at Google IO 2018 on development tools for Google assistant (check out codelabs for io2018 at Google developers website) Samsung are finally releasing development tools for their Bixby AI assistant as of May 9 2018 (search for "Bixby developer program private beta") Privacy with AI and really anything with "..as-a-service" protocol is a massive issue that's not talked about and laws around the world are not equal nor cater for the massive growth in this industry. The underlining issue with privacy is control. We as users want control of our data and we want transparency of what data is collected. Samsung's software on Android is closed sourced and for that matter so is Google services. With the ability of apps now to leverage AI assistants for both Google App Store and Samsung's app store, don't be naive that the technologies are limited to Google's or Samsung's own apps.

    • @mikenumpty9366
      @mikenumpty9366 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Logically these apps / services need data to work as required - doesn't matter who makes the software.
      A real assistant would also need information to function having access to calendar, contacts etc

    Or "good night " sets my alarm at 7am , decrease brightness, turn on do not disturb,

    I HATE HATE HATE Bixby. S Voice could understand me better than 95% of the time. Bixby is about 50% and sends me the worst GPS directions ever experienced - got me lost several times. What good is an app if it can barely understand you? It was such a mistake not to wait until Galaxy Note 9 comes out so the bugs (especially this painful app) would probably be worked out.

Google Assistant is not good at the phone as Bixby. That's why you should use the one beat at what you are gonna use it for.

      I have a problem with Bixby as well and would like to repurpose (remap) the accessories button...it appears to me by the articles I've read and the online research I've done that I have 1 of 2 choices.Either keep the accessories button synced up to Bixby (which turns on by itself constantly) or SHUT off the accessories button totally....so far it seems to me that those are the only 2 options that Samsung is giving me right now.Have you found the same thing to be true?

      todd lord i'd completely deactivated bixby awhile ago, then wanted to at least reactivate the button just in case they put out an improving update ( they haven't ), and i had to research how to reactivate bixby long enough to get the button working again 😅 once she's off, she's off. anyway, there was an app that allowed you to remap the button. you'll have to search the topic; the video was here on youtube.

    Just got my awesome note 8,set up Bixby,and found a bug nobody else knows about. Was listening to google play music through the speakers of my note 8 and watching Android authority/pocket now on my iPad ..Bixby starts activating for no reason ,multiple times, six times within five minutes. It picks up on the words on the iPad and starts searching and recording whatever's been talking about on the video. Weird. I turn off the music. Bixby operates normally. (Update) went to bixby settings and fixed it in "voice wake up"

For a blind Android User like myself, Bixby is going to have another use for a person who wouldn't be blind or low-vision. In some ways, I wish that pocket now was able to do a series on Bixby, and not just a video. That's just my thoughts. :-)
