They have a “bypass valve”. Same concept except it does not seal all the way and you don’t get any noise from it. I felt a difference in power jus by having the blow off valve seal all the way. Also it sounds bad ass lol.

Man i know its an old vid but everyone saying he needs a stiffer spring really need to do more research on the centrifugal chargers. THE VALVE NEEDS TO BE OPEN AT IDLE AND PART THROTTLE, these make boost via rpm and unlike the turbos, they flow ALOT of air even at idle. Without the bov open they would build boost at idle and be a nightmare to drive especially those cars that need vaccum for the brakes, also puts a lot of wear on the superchargers seals and impeller. So again, he has the correct spring for his application

Not to sure man I just went with that one, seemed easy enough ordering through jegs and getting the supercharger equipped spring already in it. Then I just T’d into the procharger vacuum line and boom. Just a personal preference going with the Q I guess

hello torqstorm installed on my 09 dodge challenger RT, but not tuned at the moment, a question, the blow off valve should be opened or closed at idle ? i connected it behind the TB and the valve stay open at idle, normal ? maybe to be connected near the brake booster ? goood video
@@MooreIsAllYouNeed Not at all. The bypass valve is MUCH more efficient because it doesn't spit out all your boost like a blow off valve. Bypass valve let's a little bit of boost slowly seep out, where a blow off valve dumps all of it. Don't get me wrong, I think blow off valves sound absolutely fantastic!! That said, I prefer speed/power over sound. If a BOV was more efficient, supercharger manufacturers would include them instead of bypass valves. Also, you should ALWAYS get a new tune for the vehicle if you do switch!!!

522whp with the procharger and long tube headers. I had the stock tune that came with the procharger though. With a custom tune it could have done a little better
I'm pretty sure you have the wrong spring in there - at idle, you can see the valve is open and I'm pretty sure they are supposed to remain closed. They have several different springs available, and you select the one to use based on what your idle engine vacuum is.
The BOV should be closed at idle and during boost. At idle there is no boost - the engine draws vacuum. Less vacuum with a supercharged engine than turbo or normally aspirated, but normally still vacuum. If it's open, it is allowing unfiltered air into your engine. Most BOVs allow you to adjust spring pre-load or change springs to keep the valve closed at idle vacuum.
Did the stock BOV vent to atmosphere? if it's recirculating, that isn't really an issue. Aren't you pulling any vacuum at idle? I can't see it being positive manifold pressure all the time. TiAL recommended a spring for my setup too using their Q valve. I sent them video. They said "oops" then recommended another spring. I sent them video. They said "oops" again. Then they told me it was the wrong BOV for my application :(

Idk I’ve heard both. I just went with what tial said to do for supercharged applications. There is a chart on the website. Car seemed just fine
Should be shut at idle but tial springs are wonky so it’s hard to get perfect which is why I hate the tials but it is what it is.

I think it’s a 2 psi spring for the supercharger applications if you go on their web site they have a spring chart

I contacted tial told them what My set up was and they set me up with that spring
At idle BOV is open to release boost. It closes to allow boost to flow to the engine at higher rpms
