- After reading the patch notes, we head into the game itself to try and find as much new content as we can! We found all types of things like new machines, a new questline, we checked out the mastery system, and even an item from Terraria!
The sections are mostly just approximations, we jump around a lot.

@@neroxyx3085 i do indeed think that all the quality of life updates and the fact its expanding the longevity for casual players while also benefiting speedrunners to make those more interesting is a biggee update than one area that ive seen a lot of people not bother with after a couple playthroughs
I feel like Concerned Ape learned how to animate a really pretty waterfall, and decided to go the Frank's Redhot route. He put that sh*t on everything lol

Fishing is actually viable now. A single day of lava eel fishing, using trap and quality bobber, and then smoking them, gave me over 160k, with only a slightly good luck day, not even max luck

I've always enjoyed fishing in both Terraria and Stardew Valley. This update just doubles the happiness for me in SV >_<

If you get green rain in year one, every npc is worries and scared, everyone is either in their houses or in the saloon, when i played, most of the npc houses (except marnies ranch and sam and jodis house) are empty, it really makes you feel uneasy and i love it!😅
I watched NinoKito play it on year one and it was genuinely chilling

Hey, one thing to know about the Desert Festival: marriage candidates sell all their special furniture. Which is to say, the unique Penny furniture is now able to be gotten without marrying her.
Also emily's set of clothes!
FINALLY I WANTED HER FURNITURE SO BAD BUT REFUSED TO MARRY HER OUT OF PRINCIPLE BC SHE IS MY LEAST FAVORITE SPOUSE (and I just find her aggravating as fuck)!!!!! Tysm for this information I’m so excited for this update to hit consoles

I said this pretty much every time we got a big update, but like can we take a moment to really thank and appreciate ConcernedApe for the amazing game we all love and cherish
He's put so much time into this game to give us so much free content that I had to show support and buy the game again
You throw a cursed doll into floor 100 of the minds then you get the pylon!! (It’s a reference about summoning the Wall of Flesh)

River system on meadowlands is prob for ducks, which will swim in water if given access (cutie pie easter egg, very topical rn)

I got the hat but I didn't realize it was date specific! I thought the rainbow appeared because it rained the day before. Did it rain for you too? Does this mean it's guaranteed to rain on the 16th now?
Its the leprechaun one right? with free gold coins I believe.. I found it by accident on my new 1.6 playthrough without looking up and thought I'd done something to get it hahah

I was thinking the same. I've two different save files ready (one Joja, one Community Center) on my PS4, plus I'm considering doing a new save file just to experience everything (maybe with the new farm?)
It may hit consoles in two to three weeks. I can't say for mobile however (I have this game on every available system, so when it happens it happens)

Also, there's new dialogue. I gave a bouquet to Sam, and the next morning Jodi and Abigail both said something about us dating.
And idk if it's new, but Sam goes "Um.. So, can I get a kiss now?" And "I couldn't sleep last night, I was imagining all things we're gonna do together"
And after Shane's 6 heart event, Jodi says "did you hear about Shane? That's so terrible... I hope he's doing okay" and if you speak to Jas, she asks "Is Shane going to be okay?"

The sky is also different, flashing solid colors (slow flashes, should be epilepsy friendly) with objects and glitched textures flying around.

This is going to completely change speedruns
I imagine speedrunners will still use legacy randomization - they'll need to adapt to whatever changes are made under the hood, but I imagine they'll figure out the new patterns quickly enough. Though Joja route to perfection does appear to be even more viable of a path now.
it seems like any villager can have a booth at the desert festival, not just romancable npcs, but i had never seen leah or seb's stock so that'a cool!! just added it to the wiki!

I'm playing a new save and it's so cute the way the NPCs act. Everyone is scared and hanging out in the saloon or their own homes. Demetri is outside wearing a hazmat suit, wizard is like eh and Linus acts like he's seen this happen before and is not bothered by it. Btw. I think a lot of things feel like mods because ConcernedApe collabed with the creator of Stardew Valley Expanded. I love this update so much!

It takes 60 Book of Stars to go from 0 exp to level 10 in all skills, and then an additional 81 to achieve Mastery in all skills. Total of 141 books. And yes, I did spend an inordinate amount of time clicking to figure that out.
We just need an item that gives world peace so we can get kent year one then true perfection can be achieved year one

I started a new game when the update hit and when I got the green rain in year 1, teh villagers were totally freaked. I had fun running around, chopping trees and gathering moss
Here is a fun fact for you in the skills tab in the menu there is a junimo that is surrounded by stars (CC) and if you press it multiple times is will grow then give a permanent backdrop to the box with some leaves
The Dehydrator looks bad when used with melons but with crops that give multiple like blueberries and potatoes. The issue with kegs is that they only take one item so if you're using them with cranberries for example you're going to be selling most of them raw. Cranberries might finally be better than pumpkins again.
Yeah, can't really tell if it gives a flat bonus like preserves jars without further testing
It nice astetic changes like the water fall that make me truely believe in the fact that concerned ape really cares about this game
That little critter race at the Desert Festival is so reminiscent of the foot race at the festival in Chrono Trigger.

I actually liked the way the old slime hutch looked. It was large and gothic. Pretty useless, but damn that black bricks looked great

@@tadeyx That may no longer be the case unless you're using legacy randomizer. We don't have it fully spelled out, but a lot of the things speedrunners used to use don't exist by default any longer, and I imagine daily luck, weather, and clay spawns were probably at least three of the things changed to whatever the new system is.

Also the built houses you can make in the hearthfire dlc have mannequins that sometimes decide they wanna walk around my house like they own the place . Not sure if it’s bc of bethesda or my mods

Dunno if this comment will be seen, but here's something I just found out on my new 1.6 playthrough. I just reached the end of Spring year 2 and my crab pots are starting to give me Silver quality fish. It would appear as though they age in a way similar to fruit tree's but maybe a little faster...at least that's my hypothesis so far...we'll see when the gold quality ones start coming out of the pots. (with the 25% boost to crabpots and the new quality bonus, they're actually not bad! Also once you have the dwarf statue, recycling your trash on the days when you the "find more coal" buff + Prospector talent = big daily coal with ease.) If i recall correctly... I laid them down between summer and fall year 1, so about 2 full seasons in the water before they went up to silver, and it's not random either, 100% of the fish are silver.

haven't tried the other new seed types but I noticed carrots restore A LOT of energy compared to their time to grow and selling price, so I think pickling them and keeping them as food is the best way to go probably

In summer y1 of my vanilla meadow perfection run and I cannot overstate how good this patch is for smoothing out progression. I got the buffed bug sword and it's on par with Neptunes Glaive. I didn't even have to farm for it, I just happened to kill the requisite number of bugs on my way through. The prize tickets reward you heavily for keeping up with them. You seem to be limited to one per week for task board quests. So far I've gotten the Peach tree in time to plant for summer, and an apple sapling in time for fall, as well as the new tea for gifting. The biggest thing I'm impressed with is that I legitimately used a cookout kit to my advantage. Saved up small eggs from the chicks and cooked them in a batch to have a decent mining food. I haven't bought anything from the bookseller yet, as I'm always spending to unlock things, but better planning might be to grab that speed book asap. I also got a passive ability book that is basically a small chance at a free burglar's ring proc. I'm on course to getting CC completion in the first week of winter and it's easily one of the sloppiest playthroughs I've done yet, aside from my first farm.
I don't really know where to share this but in a past "things you might not know" video I believe you've mentioned you can nudge full chests around by repeatedly clicking them? I don't know if this is a new update thing or something people already knew, but I accidentally discovered that you can do it in one click with a pickaxe, which is fast enough to be really convenient.

I can see why he said to start a new file, because it IS overwhelming like that, but I found things are introduced slowly enough in a regular playthrough!
I’m so excited about the meadow farm because I was already planning to have my next playthrough be an animal focused run!!
The green rain reminds me of an old Dr Seuss story called Bartholomew and the Oobleck, where the king was just bored with the existing weather so he had his alchemists make a new kind, and it messes everything up. New weather, green stuff falling from the sky, maybe there’s a connection or some inspiration there, who knows?
Mushroom cave is getting a huge buff with that dehydrator. All the foraged mushrooms can now be a money maker. However fruits aren't really worth it to put in the dehydrator, even though the processing time is only one day.

The dehydrator only takes a day to process the fruits which is good for berries since they drop so much

Playing 1.6 as I'm watching. Started a new farm, Day 10 of Summer. Literally seconds after Sal gets the screen about myster boxes it popped up for me. Weird coincidence lol.

I recently bought stardew on steam for this very occasion, and meanwhile my brother and dad are playing console and mobile respectively. My dad asked me to tell him everything I see while I play, and so far i think the thing he’s most excited for is the Green rain
