everybody wants a little more and going out there and trying to get it is something that can produce a lot of shame in people. so … how dare you want more? how dare you go out and get what you want? how do you ask for it when you're not sure if you even deserve it? it's an easy song to write about the people in my life and the hardest thing to do to oneself.
this one is the band testing the boundaries of how close we can get to the edge without falling off. this recording could not have happened with any other group of people and it's the direct sound of all the time we’ve spent on the road and how we’ve learned to know what each other is going to do. the band is carrying me through.

I quit my office job the day this video came out (and I know this sounds like fake internet bs but I swear it’s true). I’d been unhappy there for a long time but I made good enough money so I convinced myself that being unhappy sometimes was okay. After I quit I freaked out. I told my husband that I felt ashamed. I kept saying “I feel like I’m being greedy”. Not because I was asking for more money but because I was willing to leave something safe for the small chance of something better. Then 2 days later I stumbled across this video and it felt like a sign. I’m still not entirely convinced I deserve more, but I’ve gotta try.

To think I was waiting impatiently for new music…
A year or so ago I discovered The Bleachers, and I'm not kidding that when I say that their song "I wanna get better" pulled me through the darkest part of my depression. Now I'm here, listening to this tune, and I can't but help feeling somewhat better. I'm really struggling to get out of this loop of self loathing and hatred, and get frustrated alot... "How dare you want more?", It's like the question I make to myself, a reminder from me to me, that I'm making my best effort at getting better, and should not be so hard on myself. I know maybe this song isn't about that, but that's what it made me feel and I really appreciate them for helping me (even if they don't know it).
I believe it for sure.that song helped me battle my demons of addiction and depression.
bleachers always had a way of making soooo happy and joyful tunes but always have lyrics that make you think and linger on your head for days searching for true meaning or something... it’s awesome. they’re awesome

There's just something about Jack's music that just... you can feel that he means what the music is saying, and it's genuine. I love this band, and I can't wait to see them in person one day.
