Yes, Honeywell was a well known company, Asahi was a bit too Japanese for older Americans who had fought against them in Ww11. The 55mm 1.8 Super Takumar is great. I have used one since the 1970s.
Great review. Just picked one of these up myself not so long ago. Very impressed with the build quality. Just one thing, the date on the top of the receipt was 1977 not 1997.

The mirror may occasionally stick up at slow shutter speeds. If it does, there’s a gear under the bottom cover that “kicks” it back up. Remove it, degrease it and refit it using only the lightest watch oil to lubricate it, and only a tiny drop. Check for shutter capping at 1/1000th. Silver oxide batteries work well in Spotmatics.
As always, thanks for your experience and knowledge, Pentax cameras are new for me, I like them so far and the lenses seem good(only tested on digital so far)....
The Photographer's Bag Yes, the lenses are pretty good performers and very well built. I’ve got quite a few Spotmatics, which I don’t use any more because I prefer aperture priority cameras, such as the magnificent Olympus OM2N! Your camera reviews are first class, by the way.
@@ianhand5006 agree, my OM kit is the most used, I prefer the OM4 for the better metering, but hate the body, much prefer the original, review of OM4 coming and thanks for your continued support and kind words.....

I'm a bit of a Pentax fan and have an SP1 and an SP2 the latter bought brand new which I will be reviewing on my own channel shortly. The Honeywell company were distributors in America for the Pentax brand from the Asahi Optical Company. I htink the only difference between the SP2 and the F was the latter has open aperture metering.
My f came from a service guy who bought it in the US when over there for work, great cameras and I really like the quality of the lenses, looking forward to your review!
