i can't help but think rick saying "its the most painful shit i've ever done and im bringing you cuz you asked for it!" was directed partially at the fans. we kept demanding more "canon" stuff like evil morty and rick prime, and now they're gonna give it to us and its gonna be HEAVY. and as a big star wars fan, i loved how the president was like, the ultimate toxic star wars fan who 'loves' it but shits all over it while Morty is a much better fan who just wanted to have fun with a lightsaber lol

First time calling him Rick Prime in show, but he’s been referred to that in published material and interviews. Personally not surprised we didn’t catch him this season, we seem to be in the Rick Prime saga of the show after wrapping up the Citadel arc last season. Next season I would say he’ll play a bigger role.

Reason why, because if we recall about the other episodes from the last seasons Rick told Morty not to do. Freeing the gas thing, keeping the monster baby, do not get out of the car, dont keep the future crystal, dont get to close with the vindicators, the acid vat, the list goes on and all of that is Morty's fault and Morty alone for not listening. So part of the lightsaber thing is also Morty's fault too.
About the Rick Prime name, the show's staff coined it in their behind-the-scenes segments. Anyone who hasn't should check them out, BTW.... they give some interesting insight into the episodes. 😉

Yeah he treated them like trash whole season and the one moment he opens up he gets dogged for it .. he didn't let people get close to him for a reason and we just saw why

I know they didnt catch the sword on purpose to make the episode but, it went down soo slow that I was shocked look at them just frozen. Can you imagine if murder Rick meets not so dead evil Morty? Happy Holidays!
So basically for season 7, they are going to copy Star vs the forces of the evil episode running with scissors we're Marco had to find all the copy's of Heckapoo on different planets to get to the real one same premiss same plot point
I don't think they took shots at Star Wars, actually sorta the opposite. The President is acting as the villain this episode, not someone you should agree with. Morty is just being a 14 year old kid who just want to enjoy Star Wars, and the President is acting like the type of "fan" who's constantly hating on everything new while still being a fan, and then make Morty feel bad for just liking Star Wars. What I'm saying is, to me it looks more like they are taking a jab against a particular subset of fanbases, the one that claim ownership of a franchise while constantly hating on it.
I really enjoyed this season, though I may be a little easy to please. I'm wondering if season seven will have Rick getting his revenge or If he'll have to sacrifice his chance to finish off Rick Prime in order to save his family. Maybe they'll go for some king of twist and he'll be a changed man by the time Rick gets to him and killing him wont be as satisfying as he'd hoped. There's a lot of options on the table.
Im not sure I like the more frequent story arc. Less is more seems true. I recall having more fun with 4 Evil Morty appearances/references over 5 seasons. Each time was a jarring, but oh so welcome surprise.
