      I have had the privilege to spend June 2022-June 2023 in Japan, basically for vacation. I've been all over the country so for my next trip I am just looking forward to revisiting my favourite restaurants in Tokyo and Sapporo, relax and stroll around neighbourhoods I lived in instead of having to go from one attraction to another!

    I went recently at the end of March, and the biggest change I felt was how the JR Rail pass switched to a a regular ticket instead of the old booklet. It made it super convenient to go through the ticket turntables instead of having to go through the Booth and getting the JR Employee buzz you through. Not to mention it allowed you to use the electronic ticket kiosks to reserve train seats instead of having to go to the ticket office. I miss the old booklet, but these quality of life changes were great!
    That being said it is unfortunate that there won't be many people who will see these changes due to the upcoming price hike for the JR Pass

    • @DieJG
      @DieJG ปีที่แล้ว

      So, it was as beautiful as the old one? Because i love the old one.

    • @Clumsy_Hero
      @Clumsy_Hero ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DieJG Sadly no. The new pass basically looks like a generic single use ticket that gets printed out from machines. You need to be careful to not toss it out by accident or get it mixed up with other train tickets. This was the one big negative with the change imo as I was always worried about getting it damaged or dropping it. I recommend putting it in a separate card holder if you do plan to get the new rail pass

      @@HelloOnepieceUnfortunately, suica cards cannot be used all over Japan. Certainly, services using Suica are becoming popular in urban areas and on the Shinkansen. However, when it comes to famous tourist destinations, Suica is still not usable in rural areas such as Niseko and Tomamu in Hokkaido and Amanohashidate in Kyoto.

    I'm a regular visitor to Japan for the past 10 years, including twice since COVID. Certainly the embracing of digital payments is a great development, but I think some of the restaurants have lost their cosy intimate feeling with the screens still in place. There's a lot to do still, but I miss the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku. It was a mad experience and I hope they bring back something similar in the not-too-distant future. I feel that while Shibuya has really improved, Shinjuku has been left a little behind and needs to do more to keep its popularity with tourists.

    I visited Japan in October of 2019, so just a few months before the pandemic changed everything. Currently have a trip booked for October of this year, so it'll be interesting to see how things changed. The last trip didn't go entirely as planned due to some bad weather, so hoping to make up for it this time. Glad I got to see Akihabara in the before times, and it'll be interesting to compare to how it is now.

      The UK is world famous for its healthy food. You can find the best vegan food. It is the home of veganism and there is the best music aswell. You don't need to be going to Japan and getting into a fight with a robot.

      @@AnnaUeno512 I suppose it is polarized like some people are doubling down on the unhealthy food whilst others embrace healthy food. Alot of the older people have been told a lot of nonsense like that the music was better in the 60s. This makes them stick with the unhealthy post war diet coz they don't believe in young people or new things. They hold onto the old myths like protein and have the money for even more of it.

The amazing thing for us was Tokyo wasn't crazy busy not the way we expected as the last time we went was 10 years ago during Sakura season and that was very busy. Maybe we got lucky but we only got crammed into 2 trains the whole trip and both where from theme parks the streets and shop where busy but not over crowded. We did stay a little further out of the city so that might have helped a little.

      Glad you had a great time out here! 😄 Tokyo based people often leave the city and go elsewhere during Golden Week, so that may explain why you found it a little less busy than expected

    Looking forward to visiting Japan sometime within the next year or two (waiting on the arrival of my passport, then comes the saving of even more funds), probably for 1-2 weeks in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, possibly also Fukuoka...looking forward to just going on a couple very long walks when I'm not riding the train (I'd be aiming for 10-20 km a day) and enjoying the sights and sounds (possibly even streaming it live if I can). I can usually navigate pretty well, so I'm not worried about getting lost.

    I used to live in Japan (until the end of 2018) and then I came back to visit this year in mid April (left right before golden week ). And, actually, I think the crowds are only going to get busier. From what I saw (and read about the next construction plans for the next couple of years) I think Japan hopes to be the next Vacation Destination for the World. Of course, Japan has the Ghibli museums, Nintendo world, Dragon Quest world (RGP PARK) and Naruto world BUT now they are also getting Jurassic Park World park, and Harry Potter Studio, and adding to Tokyo Disney Sea, they are adding indoor amusement parks everywhere, virtual reality buildings and so so much more. Even Haneda just got an ONSEN! The list of new attractions and new buildings coming to Japan is absolutely insane. I am absolutely certain that it will become the One Stop Wonder for everyone in the world- the vacation for everyone in the family (even if that person had no interests in "Japanese" things.) . (It was already the destination spot in my heart- but I think it is about to become to reach new heights)

      There is no reason to go to Japan. The festivals in UK are swarming with hot Japanese women. You can visit Harry Potters school and the museums have free entry. If that wasn't enough there is Disneyland Paris and the whole continent on the door step. You can visit the riviera. The lakes and mountains. The coast and the midnight sun. You know it's true.

    Planning to go in November (roughly the same time as the last time in 2019), mainly for chika idol shows, but more than last time I want to do some more actual touristy stuff. I'll still pack a lot of yen as most if not all of those idol shows still require cash.

    I can confirm Japan has changed since COVID as I lived there between 2012/2013 and have had three holidays there since then in 2016, 2018 and last Christmas - 2022. It looked and felt a bit different, but it still has a lot of the same things that keep you busy day or night and especially at night when Tokyo comes to life like a lot of cities tend to do so, overall, especially with COVID and mask laws relaxing, it is one hundred percent worth a visit.

    On my last visit to Japan in 2018 I travelled from Hiroshima to Sapporo and hardly ever used cash. Everyone had one of those “tiles” reader that plugged into an iPhone etc if they didn’t have a proper card reader built into the cash register.

Natasha you we curious if you would notice fine detailed changes, and as an artist myself... I totally think you do. We tend to see the things people overlook in small details. Nice to see you pop in a video, and that things are going well for you.

    Ayy Nat is back (even if it is for a short time), you were always my favourite host on this channel and even though I am both older and the other sex from you, I really really vibed with your comedic and creative energy.
    Hope your brand is doing great, I did mean to get something from you, but due to my current situation (I am my disabled Mum's full time carer and as such I get very little money and even less that I am able to use just for myself) I haven't been able to.
    All the best to you from the UK!

    Just home from a trip to Japan. One thing I noticed was the way people move through railways stations. It seems less disciplined since when was last there March 2020. More people diving in front of you, more people going the wrong way on stairs, that sort of thing.
    Definitely noticed more electronic payment options, and also more screens for ordering. Tourism numbers were way higher, but that's no surprise. (Senso-ji temple in March 2020 - 6 tourists when I was there. May 2023...thousands!)
