The legendary birds in the crown tundra was the perfect way to modernize the roaming legendaries. Every game from now on should have roaming legendaries like this, where you follow them and catch them, but you don’t know where they are specifically, you just go into a route and if you hear the cry you look around until you found it.
13:50 I love how he simply dismisses the New Regi's. The New ones that have probably 100x times the power of the old ones that excited him so much loool. Ah; nostalgia is a very cruel mistress to some people!

@@lt.luxray2570 Maybe kids in my school knew the pronunciation from the anime, but I’ve legit never heard it said like that and it totally confused me 😂
Honestly gamefreak's been doing the whole catch every legendary thing since Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire and I kinda never liked it. I mean I love catching legendaries as much as the next guy but doing the same thing a dozen times to get them all rather than them having their own little part of the map dedicated to them just doesn't do it for me. Plus having all of them just inherently makes each individual one feel less special. It's not, "Oh cool Regigigas is in this game" and more so "oh there he is. well, another one to the collection of regigigas' I've been building since gen 4...neat".
They've actually been doing the catch legendaries thing since Fire Red and Leaf Green, you could catch pretty much every legendary at the time in those games and they've continued that trend with every remake or sequel (BW2 & USUM) since.
Yeah I'm replaying it rn and... god those maps lol But that's something I like in Xenoblade honestly. It really makes you feel like you are exploring a new world.
When Arlo started talking about the game being really cheap, yes I completely agree, I’ve been playing a lot of minecraft and a bit of pokemon lately and so I’m now pretty used to low definition graphics. (No Offence to minecraft definetly wouldn’t want to change minecraft’s design) So when I played the pikmin 3 demo, I was flabbergasted. I know that the graphics were upscaled, but not by much. And pikmin 3 is 7 years old!
He's not just referring to cheap visuals. The entire game feels cheap. Minecraft isn't cheap, it's dedicated to an aesthetic. Everything about Minecraft is detailed and follows through properly on its aesthetic. Pokemon's just lazy poo-poo.
It's not necessarily the graphics of the game that look cheap(I think the game looks quite nice personally), but rather the animations. The animations are definitely cheap. And on top of that, it's more the game feels cheap than looks cheap, so that also extends to the dialogue and story elements. Sword and Shield lack a ton in the animation department. For me though, they make up for it in the sound design, art design, and competitive multiplayer focused aspects of the game. All of that stuff is pretty spot on if you ask me.
Its relieving to see that people have been liking the second expansion more than the rest of the game generally, but it's still sad how much low effort all of these in general have been... Fun fact, if you start a new game the crown thundra completely breaks progression, you can go to it right away and get level 60 legendaries before the first gym
Finding shiny pokemon in the new rad adventure thing isn't hard. They shiny chance has increased exponential, so finding one is common place... sadly...
Man, I jumped back into Pokemon recently to see if I wanted to get the expansion, and good lord. I've been playing a lot of Hades recently, and there is just so much personality and charm in that game. There are 300,000 words of A+ voice acting, and it really pulled me into the story *of a roguelike*. The script is amazing too. It remembers all sorts of stuff, like which gods you've talked to on your run, how your last encounter with somebody went, where you've died in the past, and which weapons you've been using. It zeroes in on dialog relevant to how you personally have been playing, and it must have taken a ton of work to get it performing as well as it does. It will never stop frustrating me that relatively small operations like Supergiant, with only 20 employees, can put out these fluid, engaging, polished experiences on a limited budget. Meanwhile, The Pokemon Company can slap together a game with hundreds of employees and more money than god, and it still *barely* clears the bar of what would have been acceptable on the first gen 3DS. There's just no way I can play the two games back to back and not think "wow, gamefreak legitimately does not care about the quality of their product."
Yeah, it's honestly kind of depressing, especially since you can feel effort in at least half of every Pokemon game The art team, sound team, and multiplayer team all kill it while the animation team and story team just drop the ball hard every time.
Honestly, I don't even think gamefreak got lazy in the middle of making the game, remember when they said they split two teams in half? One to focus on Sword and Shield and another to focus on a game noone probably remembers anymore? The deadline for the release of the game didn't help either and they probably couldnt focus on important stuff and all that. I'm pretty confident that the next main line games are gonna be better, they can literally just build up from sword and shield and just add more additional content and shit. Since they even have the files for all the pokemons so far in sword and shield ( i doubt they are gonna even bother recreating the models ) They also recently announced that they were able to hire more people. So that's something.
I have also been playing Hades and i am continually impressed with all the content in the game. Then i go back to swsh and I'm just dumbfounded by the lack of polish.
@@thatsneakydude5316 Regarding the whole idea of gamefreak splitting its staff, it turns out that isn't the case. Around 200 gamefreak employees worked directly on Sw/Sh while Little Town Hero had about 60 people involved. It should also be pointed out that not all of the LTH crew members were from gamefreak (a lot of them were from other companies like Zaxx Inc). I'm guessing that the biggest issue Sw/Sh had was time (although I've heard a few rumors about them being incompetent programmers). Maybe the additional 30-40 people might have helped, but I think what gamefreak really needs is a nice, long time to develop one good pokemon game (while still letting their employees take turns working on passion projects).
Omg I am SO WITH YOU on catching legendaries. That was part of why I loved Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire so much, was just because there were SO MANY LEGENDARIES to catch
I actually miss Gen 7's way to catch legendaries. It made sense in world, and wasn't so tacked on to me. You could just head straight to a legendary with your own pokemon and stuff and now the game limits you. Or maybe it's just because I'm playing solo (in a POKEMON GAME)
the map is that bad because gamefreak always stays to their roots, a bit too much at times. pokemon red had a simplistic map? same as with sword/shield. pokemon red shows each hit of a 5 hit attack, sluggishly pausing to lower the hp bar each time? swsh does too. pretty annoying for a 2020 game, you wont see this kind of thing in basically any other rpg series
Ah, I remember playing Gen 5, turning off animations and witnessing the INSANE difference it makes on Multi-hit attacks... I never was able to go back afterwards x)
The multi-hit attacks do kinda need to be distinguished because of things like abilities that activate per hit or for items and such It could be sped up some for sure, but there is a reason it's drawn out more than it could've been
I liked the way multihits looked in Stadium where you would see the Pokémon attacking once and then the opponent would be shown getting hit from different angles as many times as the move landed. Of course there were no abilities like Stamina to take into consideration back then, but it was or at least felt a lot quicker.
This DLC hurt me. This is what Pokemon should be! Yet they dangle it in front of you as DLC. I felt work put in it, which I didn't feel with the base game.
Hopefully we can take this as a positive sign for the future. With these design philosophies and some more time, we could see a modern Pokemon renaissance with Sinnoh remakes or Gen 9.

I think the 4 short quests from Peony and the Swords of Justice side quest from Sonia is a lot better than the stretched out Urshifu quest with new rival and company. The Star Tourney should have been base game.
The Tundra is a lot easier to navigate when it isn't cloudy/hailing. There are enough landmarks to look around and see where you are when you can actually see a decent distance. Unfortunately the first few days after release had clouds and snow covering most of the Tundra, so early experiences were biased.
It looks like a major improvement over the base game and Isle of Armor. Hopefully they improve upon this for the next game. My only complaint: Hunting for post-game legendaries still isn't as cool or interesting as it was in some of the older games, except for with the Regis and birds (though I miss the braille).
And now with the release of both DLCs, that brings a question: When are they bringing following Pokémon into the much smaller Wild Area? They have the technology to do it, why haven't they done it yet? Edit: Also, one of my favorite parts of the Crown Tundra is the Max Raid Battles. Not the battles themselves. But the fact that *people actually join and play with you.* Playing with actual people is SO much easier than playing with the braindead bots.
Loved the DLC, but yeah about the houses... They're not only copy pasted to be identical to each other, they're copied from the main game! Ballonlea at least. Other than that, very fun. Looking forward to what comes next!
@@blanks8851 I actually think the houses all having the same structure is pretty smart. The area is inhabited by very few people, so the buildings are probably just simple copy-and-paste designs made by a company for cheap construction. Now having all the same decour inside, that's pretty stupid.
I feel like legends are starting to become meaningful again With the Calyrex , Ultra Beasts, and the Regis and espically the Swords of Justice + Keldeo and victini being catchable
I quite enjoyed getting lost and trying to figure out how to navigate in the Tundra. It felt like going on a proper adventure now that I had no idea where to go and having to figure it out myself.
This is the problem for me. The fact that the best and the most interesting part about the whole game is the DLC, just shows how bad the main game was.
@@tallboiedd2846 but they had enough time, they reused so many assets, be it the 3D models, or animations. The game is poorly optimized, and an embarrassment to the Pokémon brand.

Honestly. I started up the game after 3 months and stopped playing after an hour or 2. Just got so boring so quickly. I think Pokemon are awesome but if the games are cheap and rushed then it hurts my overall outlook on Pokemon as a whole.
I bought sword a month ago, played until fighting Hop and getting the dynamax band or whatever it's called. Itt boring, uninspired. I had a lot of issues with sword and shield as someone who once called Pokémon their favorite franchise, but there was at least a base level of fun just from it being Pokémon despite the missing mons, awful story, and general low quality of the game. Both of the dlcs are definitely steps in the right direction and I had fun with both. I really wish the 200+ mons that are still missing were in the game, but if gamefreak and the Pokémon company learn from what worked and what didn’t and come back with a new polished game hopefully for gen 9 with the full dex I will consider it a lesson learned and worth it. Unfortunately I feel they will continue to release games or dlc every year and rush out bare minimum efforts with a cut dex. I hope they prove me wrong but I’m worried for the future.

Tbh they need more quests. Like 50 quests in a game would be cool. Go hunt a specific Pokémon, catch/defeat a certain amount. Go find specific characters, get an item to move forward with the story, help npcs with moving things with strength or something. Gain exp, rare items, clothes, gift pokemon, etc. maybe every other town has their own legendary that you need to catch to unlock something in the town. They can expand so much in Pokémon. The ship has sailed for me, I see everyone having fun but I already paid $60 to have fun in the base game and didn't, it feels like diminishing returns at this point. Especially since none of the new Pokémon really excite me and I've already caught every legendary. It's kind of depressing how often they resell that specific feature actually... We could catch every legendary to date in Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon, but somehow this is still a feature to ask an extra $30 with. Same with follow Pokémon, but every game with it prior did a more consistent job with it. Oh yeah, and the co op feature only works for friends who pay for NSO and also bought the DLC, non DLC players can't join on the Dynamax Adventures with their base game unlike before with the dens. I wasn't expecting it to be, but it's worth pointing out before someone says "they aren't specifically selling Dynamax Adventures only in the DLC" because yeah they kind of are otherwise they would have patched that. It's a paid feature, and it's a big core of the DLC. Additionally unsettling, Pokémon Go compatibility with Home and thus Sword and Shield hinges on Sword and Shield already having the Pokémon in the pokedex. So if you caught Darkrai this week in Go and thought you'd transfer it, sorry, unless you paid for Home premium to transfer from paid Bank from paid other games, or pay to have DLC to recatch the legendaries at least once, you're SOL. Though, not sure if Darkrai is included in the DLC? Even more chance you're SOL in that case. ... Yikes, truly I didn't mean to go off here. I'm happy they've produced better content that is making all of my friends happy. I just have the sinking feeling that the little nefarious "devil in the details" is ruining my enjoyment of my favorite franchise, because I morally don't want to stand by a company with bad consumer practices, and TPC is not being forthright with us or our investments. I don't see anything about what they've done since launch that leads to any self reflection on how they handled 2019's PR disaster and the decisions that lead up to it.
Well written sir. TPC are only gonna get worse with their decision making. It's only when the sinnoh remakes come and dissapoint that the spell will be broken. But by then it will be too late.
15:10 in regards to the regi thing, you can have multiple save files on one copy of the game thanks to each switch profile getting its own save. So if you want both the Regis, you can do so by starting up a second save file on a different profile. And thanks to Pokémon home, you can transfer your Pokémon between the save files if you want them all on one save. It is inconvenient having to play the game multiple times just so you can get all the legendaries, but at least you don’t have to pay extra for a second game or find someone else to trade with if you don’t want to.
I'm glad it's good, and I hope that they use the formula they've got here and improve on it for the next game. I won't buy them, though, because of how the base game was. Here's to hoping that the next games are better without needing DLC to improve them dramatically.
They will be, the reason that these features were added as dlc was probably because of 2 reasons: 1. The Pokemon Company was giving Gamefreak a harsh schedule -2. Gamefreak is lazy but obviously that's not right-

@@moonray0108 That's because the difference is silly and arbitrary. Honestly, GameFreak are all geniuses. They’ve released so much bad Pokémon content that when they release a 15 dollar dlc with a mediocre story, confusing world, and decent legendary hunting everyone loves it. They set the bar so low that they only need to hit “meh” out of ten for our praise
If you like hunting legendaries, Sun and Moon are like THE games for that. The Tapus, the box trio, all the Ultra Beasts... and they all have some of my all-time favorite legendary themes, especially the Tapus
Huh guess I should boot up Pokemon sword again sometime, but honestly I really did not enjoy the game, nor the first DLC, but I'll give this a shot, maybe I'll wait a bit to get into the winter mood first.
Arlo, I really think you should check out Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. If you liked the content of this DLC, you would absolutely enjoy those games. They’re much more balanced and complete experiences than Sw/Sh, with a much better story, and they have pretty much the same amount of content as these games with much more polish.
Personally, I don't regret skipping Sword and Shield. I saw all the red flags during the development like the whole National Dex fiasco and how poorly the staff at Game Freak tried to justify it, so I waited and watched a Let's Play to see what the whole package had to offer before making my decision. Long story short, I thought it was barely an improvement over Sun & Moon, a game I already had a few problems with structurally, and the most it got from the transition to the Switch were Wild Areas and Dynamaxing, the former being woefully undercooked, and the latter being all flash and no substance. Even if both DLC improved on those areas and offer a more fulfilling experience, it doesn't matter if the base game it's attached to is mediocre at best. I've said it before, but Pokémon has become stale; more than any other Nintendo property, it needs its own Breath of the Wild to reinject life into it.
It would have been cool if they kept the coordinator contests. that alone would have made a lot more content. and maybe a new side quest for each gym leader. Truthfully, my dream Pokemon game would have us go though multiple leagues if not all of them.
Being honest, I was sad that they took mons but at the same time the idea of them bringing them back made them feel new and I kinda loved that, it was really exciting

The thing that has me loving this is the challenge of max raid dungeons. Yes there are only so many Pokémon, but the kind of strategy you have to do to build your team without dying, and then chipping down the HP of the legend? So fun, especially since the legends are really hard. Especially the box ones. I play with my friends, and we had a Palkia fight be decided by 7 points of HP. If that person died, we would have lost as we were out of lives. The feeling of 4 friends, 2 with sword and 2 with shield, and slowly grinding them all out where each new move feels like the difference between life and death, it’s absolutely thrilling. And I love that the shiny rate is higher too. Shiny legends should be special, yes, but there is a joy of having your girlfriend ask “why is Lugia pink” after a tough fought battle. It’s not absurdly rare, but it’s still rare enough for it to be special. It’s genuinely given me the most joy with this game, and I hope this kind of dungeon crawling makes a return in future installments. It’s a great idea, and their best method to grandfather in legends to date. It’s not a chore. It’s an absolute blast. Play it with friends if you can. You won’t be disappointed
In my opinion, this DLC saved the game… which SHOULDN’T happen. A DLC should make a good game better. Not save a meh game. But hey, as an optimist of the series at least it actually had improvement
15:05 I thought this too and was really annoyed, until I remembered pokemon home (evens the free version) allows you to transfer Pokémon from one account to another.

The new raid den and ability to get tons of legendaries feels great. Until you realize that you get none of the story or build up them. I've been critical of these nintendo oriented channels giving them a pass on every issue and fawning over every run of the mill side scroller made by nintendo as a 10/10 masterpiece for the ages but this was very refreshing. Not only is Pokemon nintendo exclusive, it's far and away the most profitable media franchise in the world and they can't afford to do bi-yearly what call of duty would put into its games yearly? If you told 5 year old me in 1998 that 22 years later this is how far Pokemon would advance and stop I wouldn't believe you, their very first sequels gave us day/night, breeding, shinies, 2 zones, days of the week?? and then everything since then has been such a stagnant slide downward in one way or another. I gave them such a pass, great games until the 3DS generation, XY were fine/good starts to the generation where they had to remake every pokemons 3D model, sure fine they can chill a bit for that year on end game and such, but then ORAS and SuMo felt like direct downgrades in one way or another, ORAS especially, Emerald was my favorite game before HGSS were the amazing remakes that they were, and the remake for Emerald fell so flat for me. I just want Pokemon to be more than 'walk in a circle beating gym leaders 5-10 levels below you facing trainers who refuse to use more than 2-3 Pokemon for 20 hours before you're done with the game' Fan made games have been creative and interesting for a decade now, it's time for Nintendo to do ANYTHING about the mainline pokemon games. Give me 1/10th of what Zelda fans got with breath of the wild
Lol emerald didn’t have a remake. I’m fine with the games being made for smoothed brained people, but I really want them to have a more engaging storyline and just more content than what we got with the base game and first dlc. It’s really not fair how fans get shitty games we still fawn have over. I’m having fun with crown tundra, but I should’ve had fun since I first got the game
@@rafaelamaya9643 What does catching 'every legendary pokemon ever' even mean anymore? we've had full pokebanks for close to ten years now. and yeah, ORAS was shit with some good features, the dexnav for one.
I think this is the best pokemon game I could have started with. It both showed me the coolness of pokemon and ensured I wouldn't waste money on pokemon again.
I really recommend playing the DS titles (Platinum, Heartgold/Soulsilver, Black/White and Black/White 2). They are considered the peak of Pokemon and are much better games than Sword and Shield!
You and I have very different ideas of what we think the future of Pokémon should be. I like the fixed camera linear paths of Pokémon way more than I like the open wild area.
I really like the crown tundra dlc, it reminds me a lot of how you could catch all the legendaries like in Alpha Sapphire and Ultra Moon. But it has an actual story and a great area for exploration. And the raid battles are soooooooo cool, so much to do. I really think this is a great second part to an already great dlc.
I've had even dumber experiences with the AI this DLC. They'll spam skill swap, power swap, set up terrain every time I do it with my max moves, and the most frustrating thing is when I want them to swap pokemon for one that will be more effective against the legendary, they won't. Or, when they already have one that is effective against the legendary, they will swap for a dunsparce or something. Everything else in the DLC was great though.
Honestly I am glad I didn't buy the DLC. I regret buying the base game but im glad that the dlc seems to be ok. I dont think I will buy another main line pokemon game until they clean up there act and deliver a solid base game.
What we got in the Crown Tundra, along with several other factors, only reinforces my belief that the controversy around Sword and Shield _isn't_ a matter of pure greed and laziness on the developers' part. It's undeniable that there were pretty severe issues regarding the marketing and PR, but when I look at this second DLC, I just don't see the "low effort from people who didn't care". I see something that feels like a step towards what the devs wanted to give us all along, with obvious love put into certain aspects that led to an overall more positive reception. And if that "beta leak" happens to be legit, then I'm pretty much convinced that they wanted Sword and Shield to be the best and most ambitious title, only for something to happen that forced them to make WAY too many sacrifices. Call me a shill or a moron if it pleases you, I don't care. This is the conclusion I've reached after looking at the facts we Internet people have access to, and I'd rather stick to that than sink into the kind of pessimism that makes you trash-talk the games at every opportunity and demand that everyone at Game Freak be fired for "the middle finger that is Gen 8 as a whole."
It's definitely not Gamefreak's fault that the game isn't as great as it should have been. Blame the Pokemon Company for rushing them so hard, this game really needed another year or two in the oven for it to really shine, so they can polish up some of the textures, add a bit more quality of life features, fix following pokemon and stuff like that. When I look at these games I can see so much potential in the francise and I see things that people did put hard work and effort into but of course the suits upstairs don't care about the developers and they just want their constant advertising and cash flow. And yeah, the PR for the game was abysmal, I wish Masuda and the others didn't lie to us to try and justify the cuts and the problems, but again I can't hate them for SWSH and they did what they could. I really hope that Gen 9 isn't rushed and takes all that SWSH did right and some more.
This also probably is a matter of inexperience, this is the first pokemon tittle with more triple A features and it was clearly made from not very experienced people on the specifics of the scale
Having to use rental pokemon for the max den, the risk of losing and the absence of the shields is what truly makes that game mode fun. One time you go all-out attack, the next you are the status saboteur, the next you are the support. You actually have to strategize for a change, which makes it super fun. For example: one time I saw my team was primarily offensively based, so I decided to choose the more support-oriented Togetic, a pokemon I would normally never use. I basically spammed Life Dew whenever somebody received damage, since my own attacks weren't going to do much anyways and my teammates had low defenses. In doing so I had saved a teammate from fainting on 4 seperate occasions. I also saved a low teammate from a strong dragon attack with a well-timed Follow Me. Then the final boss arrived: Groudon. Two of my teammates were weak to ground thanks to terrible pokemon luck, so I suspected a ground attack to come. So I decided to use Follow Me to lure in the attack. First round: teammates either increase offensive power or deal damage. Groudon uses Max Quake. Does nothing on Togetic. Second round Groudon gets to 20% of his health. Uses a ground move AGAIN. Does absolutely nothing. Next round Groudon lies defeated. And this is but one of the instances where I felt my choice actually mattered. Sometimes I chose well, sometimes I chose poorly (FE: used Glare twice when a teammate wanted to use Will-o-Wisp, wasting a chance to attack). It's waaaay more fun than the base game could ever have given me. (Oh, and the increased shiny rate helps too)
If you want to get both of the new Regis, you can make a second profile on your Switch, catch them, and deposit them into Pokémon Home, then move them to your main save file. Obviously this also works for the other legendary in the DLC too

The legendary birds in the crown tundra was the perfect way to modernize the roaming legendaries. I mean I love catching legendaries as much as the next guy but doing the same thing a dozen times to get them all rather than them having their own little part of the map dedicated to them just doesn't do it for me.
Pikmin 3 is incredibly cinematic as well. Feels like a movie
Sword and Shield graphics are about on par with Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. A WII GAME which came out NINE YEARS AGO.
He's not just referring to cheap visuals. The entire game feels cheap. Minecraft isn't cheap, it's dedicated to an aesthetic. Everything about Minecraft is detailed and follows through properly on its aesthetic. Pokemon's just lazy poo-poo.
I love Pikmin so darn much!

Yeah, it's honestly kind of depressing, especially since you can feel effort in at least half of every Pokemon game
The art team, sound team, and multiplayer team all kill it while the animation team and story team just drop the ball hard every time.
Since they even have the files for all the pokemons so far in sword and shield ( i doubt they are gonna even bother recreating the models )
They also recently announced that they were able to hire more people. So that's something.
I have also been playing Hades and i am continually impressed with all the content in the game. Then i go back to swsh and I'm just dumbfounded by the lack of polish.
yeah... hey imagine if they had to give over production to another company? that cared?

Ah, I remember playing Gen 5, turning off animations and witnessing the INSANE difference it makes on Multi-hit attacks... I never was able to go back afterwards x)
The multi-hit attacks do kinda need to be distinguished because of things like abilities that activate per hit or for items and such

Hunting Articuno on release day in foggy weather wasn't exactly the easiest thing the DLC had to offer....
It looks like a major improvement over the base game and Isle of Armor. Hopefully they improve upon this for the next game.
My only complaint: Hunting for post-game legendaries still isn't as cool or interesting as it was in some of the older games, except for with the Regis and birds (though I miss the braille).
I like dynamax adventures, especially as there's a good chance for other pokemon to be shiny.
It’s honestly pretty fun with friends.
I mean in others you had like 15 legendaries and now the amount is more than double, not all,of them would habe their own special thing

@Death Embrace lmao. How do you know he isnt?
Well written sir. TPC are only gonna get worse with their decision making. It's only when the sinnoh remakes come and dissapoint that the spell will be broken. But by then it will be too late.
@Death Embrace wow can you just chill out
@Death Embrace Imagine being so offended by a comment giving an opinion that you post this
15:10 in regards to the regi thing, you can have multiple save files on one copy of the game thanks to each switch profile getting its own save.
They will be, the reason that these features were added as dlc was probably because of 2 reasons:
1. The Pokemon Company was giving Gamefreak a harsh schedule
-2. Gamefreak is lazy but obviously that's not right-
Hmmm... the alternate Arlos sound suspiciously like the cast of Fuzzaboom
Finally! Someone else who knows about that!
Unfortunately you can’t catch every legendary. There are a lot that you can’t get in either version of the game (I.e Arceus, darkrai, magearna, etc).

I think it's funny that everyone complained about how linear the base game was but when they actually make the dlc non linear everyone starts complaining about it.
@@Hogglefath i liked how the story was non-linear, "theres legendaries and stuff go explore!" was refreshing.just the navigation can be annoying. So i had to backtrack 5 minutes to get down there. If they made more fly points i dont think this would be as big of an issue i have the same complaint w a lot of open world games that only offer one path to get to your objective.
Also i never thought that linearity was an issue w the base game, ive been playing since gen 1 and im well aware pokemon's base experience has always been pretty linear.
The new raid den and ability to get tons of legendaries feels great. Until you realize that you get none of the story or build up them. First den I got Suicune, second den I got a rayquaza that got absolutely wrecked by two ice Pokémon in two vollies. Not only that but there’s no struggle to catch them or stop them from fainting. You just beat them and catch them, the new raid dungeon doesn’t seem to have any chance at failure to catch.
It doesn’t have any failed catches. Every ball thrown is a guaranteed catch. The challenge is in surviving, which is why you can’t use your own probably OP team. Which is fun. I like using weird Pokémon in rental systems
@@aerowalker3 Agreed, with Gen 7 and Gen 6 both just throwing a ton of Legendary Pokemon at you with the standard way of catching, it's refreshing to really have a challenging encounter, Honestly even if Dynamaxing goes away next gen I hope things like Legendary Encounters are similar to Regigagas in this game.

And the raid battles are soooooooo cool, so much to do. I really think this is a great second part to an already great dlc.
The way arlo says suicune is so wholesome
Arlo’s ad reads are so good 😂
I've had even dumber experiences with the AI this DLC.
(Oh, and the increased shiny rate helps too)
Base game: no
Isle of Armor: wild area
Crown Tundra: legendaries
If you want to get both of the new Regis, you can make a second profile on your Switch, catch them, and deposit them into Pokémon Home, then move them to your main save file. Obviously this also works for the other legendary in the DLC too
