    Hey, Edward. Good video. I have been contemplating upgrading to this Interface. From my old Motu 2408 Mk3. My Motu still sounds good. I hear a lot about good modern DAC's and Pre amps. But I do wonder if upgrading to an interface like this Clarett+, would the sound quality be of much listenable difference?

    Your videos are inspiring and are helping me tremendously in selecting new recording equipment to upgrade my home studio. I’m going with the higher end interface here you have suggested. Would you also suggest a Neve preamp in addition for vocals or would the interface suffice. Thank you.

    Hi Edward! Thank you for all your videos! One question on your opinion. Do you like the results of plugging in your headphones (Neumann or Beyer) straight into the Clarett+ hp jacks or do you feel the need to run a couple line outs to a headphone amp?

    The worst type of paid promotion, encouraging others to purchase something he doesn’t use himself, watch later videos. If you promote it as a $1000 purchase make it evidentially what is being used in your own set-up. This review isn’t backed by data or proper testing to evaluate sound differentiation and the product never features again. It looks bad on Focusrite and on the channel because it is bad practice.

    The Gen2 and 3 knobs and also the scarlett octopre's knobs are made of a different material and won't get sticky. Confirmed with FR. BTW to ged rid of the sticky stuff on the Gen 1, just wash and rub hem with you hands water and soap. they will return as new. The Clarett+ is twice the price of a scarlett and it may be pretty hard to hear the difference. In a mix you probably won't notice it at all. Why not record sometihing and compare ? There is a drummer post that did this. the difference might just be a matter of preference. What would be nice to see noise level measurements and if is noticeable at all. Some instrument (even high end) generate already so much noise (Even with balanced cables) that the preamp noise is negliable.

    • @EdwardSmithMusic
      @EdwardSmithMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These pre-amps are crystal clear for audio interface pre-amps... so in my opinion, no.

    • @undercrackers56
      @undercrackers56 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need to shell out a hell of a lot of money to buy better quality pre-amps than these. You would also miss out on the "air" feature which adds high atmosphere to vocals and organic instruments. My friend and I compared the Focusrite Claret 8-pre against the UA Apollo 8-pre. On paper the Apollo had more head room, but when listening through a selection of studio monitors to vocals recorded using studio microphones, we could not tell any difference in audio quality. Sadly I must sell mine as it is Thunderbolt and my MAC has died so I am moving to Reaper on Windows.

    Great video. I’m not sold on the buttons looking better thing. It’s gear no a fashion statement! And if your still in an apartment all those input outputs are over kill. Your not going to be playing that many instruments at one time! Focusrite 4i4 would beyond cover all of that. But the 2i2 3rd gen. Is just fine. Not the solo though I can’t stand not having a gain button for the ear phones.

    • @apostolicway2604

      I have the 2i2 3rd and allow me to say today I need the 4. Removing my keyboard cables to plug in a mic or mics it’s not fun at all. My two cents, blessings to all. I agree the 4 is perfect though I have contemplated on the 8 you know, just Incase 😎
      Speaking of, I’m here because I want to now upgrade. Any insight is appreciated. Was looking at the new audient.
