  • Coronation Street viewers were left sobbing last week when scenes aired of Evelyn Plummer’s dog, Cerberus, being put down and it didn’t take much hard work for Maureen Lipman who plays Evelyn to show her emotion. The actress has said filming the scenes brought back painful memories of saying goodbye to her own dog. So just how hard is it to lose a pet?

Dogs are pure souls. Not like humans who have hatred and all kinds of unpleasant traits. This is why we cry more when we lose our dog than our humans. I have lost my beloved mum, dad, and only sibling in the last few years. I miss my girl, she passed in april, she was nearly 18yrs old. Ty Mollie for being in my life x

Preparing for a last supper, at home with friends and loved ones around, by a fire, laying absolutely content, and filled with love, is one heck of a way to see a loved one off.

My dog was an Australian kelpie I loved her so much she died last year of cancer I miss her every day. Four years ago I got a rare cancer I was not sure if I would make it but I was very positive because I had a great husband and great children so I knew they would be ok my dog was another issue I knew she would not be ok.She slept in the bed with us she followed me everywhere she would get out of the bed in the morning and gently brush her whiskers on my face to say mum I need the toilet. She never went on the furniture she loved her bed but the day before I went into hospital for my surgery she climbed up on to the couch and laid her head across my stomach which was full of cancer I was so emotional I thought omg she knows I made it am now cancer free I nursed her through her cancer I still can’t believe she is gone I miss her terribly my son bought me a puppy for Mother’s Day it’s been a joy to have another little fur baby to love and I truly love him but I still miss my beautiful girl terribly ❤️

When my sister was looking after my GSD, he did a massive poo right in the middle of a zebra crossing. Held all the traffic up, while she picked it up. She was sooo embarrassed 😂
