The thing with Revival is it wasn't Eminem or Slim Shady. It was Marshall Mathers. He was raw in it. Still great raps but he talked about social and economic issues within this country. He talked about his life and his regrets with his family and children and how he got caught up in the rap scene and forgot what mattered. He was open and deep in it. We got to know who the recluse is. We got to know who Eminem really is. I loved the album because of that vulnerability. Others hated it because it wasn't all of that shock value we know of when it comes to Eminem. That's my take on it.
EM was woke before the alarm clock went off for the rest of the country. Ahead of his time.
The simple truth is a lot of people use music as an escape for entertainment purposes only... eminem realized he can and should use his platform to try and bring about change. With great power comes great responsibility. I applaud his efforts and thank him from the bottom of my heart because something needs to change. God Bless America and if he uses eminem to help save it then I'm here for it.
Most of them hated Revival because of production & different cadence, like they did with Relapse.

The Thames River is the longest river in London, and it has NEVER froze due to the Victorian Era. So that's a COLD BAR! In the BET Cypher, Eminem compared Trump to 'The Thing' (from Marvel Comics) how they're both orange. Charlamagne tried to say that it was a bad punchline because apparently 'The Thing isn't even orange', which is clearly a terrible criticism because The Thing _IS_ orange!
Could have been thinking of the thing movie, that's wasn't orange, he just got the character wrong

"Thames might freeze" is the correct lyric. The Thames river (pronounced 'Tims' I believe) is a river that has never frozen or hasn't been frozen in a long time. I'm not gunna research to double check but I believe that's the jist of it. Love the reactions guys!

IMO "Walk on Water" off of Revival is one of the best songs Em's ever done. It's just so damn honest about him living his life through his art and how it's affected him. It's incredibly moving.

Revival is definitely slept on.. So many critics stepped on it before it was even out.. I like Walk on Water ft Beyonce, Believe, Remind Me, Framed, Nowhere Fast ft Kehlani, Offended and Castle & Arose.. But Castle and Arose are 2 separate songs but they're great to listen to one after the other..

It is pronounced the way Em said it, but it's spelled the way the lyrics spelled it.
Just adding that the river doesn't freeze anymore due to construction projects that made the river narrower, the water now moves to fast to completely freeze over in winter.
They used to have skating rinks and shops and winter festivals on top of it before it changed in 1800's(I think but might be mis-remembering)
Anyway the point is that it has to be really freaking cold to make the Thames freeze.
Also he says he has the club on smash like a nightstick. In England cops don't carry guns they only carry clubs (also called nightsticks)
So that was like a quadruple scheme.

I think you need to hear “Not Alike” before “Killshot”. It was the first diss he did to MGK, which I think he bodied him on that track. But MGK didn’t get the bars, IMO, and thought, “Hey let me make a track called “Rap Devil””. It had more media pull, so Em had to respond to it with Killshot.

I love reactions to music, and I love both the in-the-moment style reactions where people just listen thru the whole song without skipping, reacting in real time as it plays the way any of us would upon first listen. But I also love the breakdown part of it all, where it's dissected and really really appreciated for the cleverness and quality. Would you guys be willing to do both? Maybe have the first 5 mins of each video be reacting in real time as it plays through, then the last 20-30 dedicated to going back through and breaking it all down? That'd be the best of both worlds for me. Either way, love you guys and keep the videos coming!

The Thames part where he says “polarize shit so the Thames might freeze.” The Thames is a river in England that has it completely frozen since the little ice age hundreds of years ago. It only partially freezes. So saying the Thames might freeze is similar to a more literal version of “it’ll be a cold day in hell before…”

He had Beyonce Knowles on revival for walk on water. I guess when you walk into BK you expect a Whopper. As in the expectation the song was gonna be huge. But critics acted like he served a slider (much smaller than even a quarter pounder) but in fact Revival was a porterhouse.

I am almost positive Joe Budden is the one who skimmed through the track list of Revival and trashed it to his followers..which set off a domino effect unfortunately.
Revival is one of my fav albums. So good. If you do it, please do it from the start to the end. Don't jump around as the songs all flow perfectly together. Also, on that album, you have to do the last songs "Castle" and "Arose" back to back in one sitting. 💙
