- Vice President Kamala Harris is traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday to take questions from three members of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Her visit comes six weeks after former President Donald Trump sat down with the organization at their national convention in Chicago, where he made false claims about Harris’ racial identity and clashed with one of the moderators.
Harris previously declined an invitation to the NABJ convention because it conflicted with Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s funeral. The July convention also took place less than a week after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

The contrasting manner in which Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were addressed by the National Association of Black Journalists is concerning and, in my view, disrespectful to Black Americans. The outright hostility directed at Trump, compared to the treatment of Harris, suggests a lack of impartiality. As a Black man, I believe the National Association of Black Journalists owes an apology to the American people.

Worrying about the effects of 20,000 Haitans dumped on a small town of 50,000 people is not racism., Forget skin color. Haitans come from a very different environment and culture. They are not civilied by our standards. It doesn't make them bad, and it doesn't have anything to do with skin color. It has to do with growing up where there is no indoor plumbing in many places and many people naturally are used to relieving themselves outside. Likewise, they come from a culture that considers any free roaming animal food. They also come from a culture where that food is cleaned and gutted outside the house, which is a sanitary practice, but it is not something that the current residents of Springfield are used to seeing hanging from the neighbors tree. They come from a Country where the roads are in disrepair and there is no DMV. People are not used to driving, and do not know the laws. This has nothing to do with racism. she is talking about a tax deduction not a grant. a way for a business to invest in their business - thus hiring workers and providing jobs. What workers are paid versus the profits of the business are a feature of the capitalist system.
It's a tax credit for small businesses, it's not designed to give money away. Think of it as the opposite of a tariff, and as a plan - not a concept.

To get a tax deduction, the business has to accumulate taxes, which businesses are taxed on profit and not revenue. Most businesses are not profitable in their first 1-3 years and many outright fail completely. This tax deduction doesn't actually help a business get their feet off the ground.
I think a lot of people think Kamala is talking about a tax credit or grant which isn't the case and this deduction doesn't actually do much to help.

Federal background check laws don't apply gun shows because those sales are considered a private purchase - like if someone sold selling a gun to a neighbor, for example. Gun shows are just that - _shows,_ or an _event_ that comes and leaves like a state fair. They rent the venue for a period, but it's not a permanent establishment like an actual gun store. Therefore, the federal background check laws that apply to gun _stores_ don't apply not gun _shows,_ hence the loophole.
I'm assuming the reason why gun shows can get away with it is because they'd never be able to sell anything if they have to wait on a background check to be conducted. Background checks aren't immediate. They take time, and by the time the background check is done, the event could be over. (not sure if that's actually the reason, though).
