I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Tried the 6inch of that. Works great on mossy pavements and brick walkways. But be prepared for strong kickback and sparks. Wire brush worn out easily in around 2 hours of heavy use.
Good. I've already done this, with an industrial wire brush, cone-type, 6 inch. Cost was 45 $ Canadian. Cut - off 9/16 inch deep socket, to fit onto Stihl FS 40 trimmer drive nut/shaft. Welded it to the top side, of cone brush- centered and balanced it. Install onto drive nut/shaft with a larger spacer washer, to fit , so the nut going onto the drive shaft, tightens the brush, to the lower lip, of drive. Works awesome, as a sidewalk trimmer - throws dirt/grass/sand all over - takes a short time, to cut back up to 2 inches of dirt/overgrowth over sidewalk. Angling the trimmer, gives for an angled dirt edge, looks very good, pro-like. Made another one - flat brush, doing the same thing ; BUT this one, works better for just ' weed whacking '.... Go Trevor....but b carefull !
Right. Drag it while walking to the ' right ' up the sidewalk, so the rotation throws the debris, FORWARD ; angling the trimmer to get the 45 degree slope, of the dirt/grass growing over the sidewalk...(using inside of cone brush.....).. Much better control - same as my skill saw blade, onto STihl FS 40 .....trimming tree branches....
I like this as an alternative attachment. I am seeing some concerns about pavement/brick damage. I am not looking to trim near pavement. But I have a lot of heavy brush, small trees I need to trim, the string trimmers (even heavy duty ones) are terrible and the feeder system always sticks/hate replacing the spools. I bought a Stihl commerical gas trimmer and a metal trimmer blade (it's basically a circular saw blade with no safety guard on it, not a good idea). I sold it for 2 reasons. One it is very heavy/hard to control (I am older and have a chronic shoulder issue), to be honest the metal blade scared me (there is no give at all with it and I am afraid it will kick back and give me a serious cut on leg, etc.. So the Wire brush looks like a good in between option
Was reading comments on cleaning up driveway and someone said it did not stand up to cleaning more than a couple of hours thanks for helping me not buy this wire brush
Hi, I have just bought a brush head but have no idea how I am supposed to attach it to the black and decker pull through cord wipper snipper? Where do I go to get parts that might help me attach it?
Wire brush heads are meant for driveways or you will get that violent catch-jolt when the wire brush touches ground. If you do that for a long time you will get sore wrists and possibly injury
Thanks for doing a review! I've been trying to decide if this wheel brush was any good much less worth the money. With this review all I have to do now is place my order. For some reason I was picturing those wires in the wheel falling to pieces after 20 minutes of use, but its a beast in the Field. Now I'm curious if you can edge with it like you can with string just no string to lose. Again thanks for the review
An update from a post made 3yrs ago. Edges well but with a precaution. You may create an air of jealousy amongst others in the neighborhood. I've replaced the wheel on three different occasions so, tough ! Yeah. Indestructible! Questionable. They work well.
That's what I thought but I had a forester and got the one with 2 chainsaw chains looped. I worry every time I cut lol the wire though seems like grinding or whatever. They gonna come out with use.
These will only work on a weed eater with a clutch drive. If you have a direcct drive like most weed eaters, it will be nearly impossible to start. The weight of the wire wheel is too heavy causing the pull start to not be fast enough. I just installed one on a warmed up machine and I could not turn the engine fast enough to start it.
Thanks for this review. I have an old Black and Decker 18 volt whipper snipper. But I can't seem to remove the plastic housing that the line cartridge is usually mounted in. I'm guessing that would need to come off to mount this blade you've reviewed? How would I do that?
I've got an old ozito one which I worked quite hard to get the plastic housing off, but if the metal shaft is not threaded for a screw, then I guess it's not suitable for this attachment.
Several folks asking if this will work on an electric trimmer: No. First, you probably won't be able to attach it. Even if you did, you have a bigger problem: The electric motor is meant to spin at high speeds with relatively low torque. This is just too heavy an attachment. The higher load will burn out the motor in a short time. Seriously, you won't be able to even finish your lawn with it before the motor is shot.
You didn't show us how the wheel looked after that aggressive review. I don't have rocks to clean around but curious how it held up against the hitting up against the rocks?
I have a strimmer which I purchased the same weeding wheel but it also came with a Aluminium strimmer head with easy line to put in but we can’t get it open to fit the line and not sure what’s it Called can anyone put a video up if anyone knows what it is Thankyou
Nice to show us how it works, but He is not very mechanically minded, as the weeder is turning in that direction he has to work on his right side so that the blade will pull on him and the weeder would keep very stable, not like this.
Impossible to attach to Australian sourced Line Trimmers - with Metric threads and fittings. These American Wire Brush Cutters come with SAE threads and fittings. Not Compatible !
Trimmer line is available in an enormous variety and sizes, for different applications, and Much cheaper than that wire brush. When that "Bad Boy" slings a wire all the way to his leg bone, hopefully he'll investigate the String again. A Wire could hit you Anywhere, even piercing a Vital Organ!!
I don't think his eye protection was adequate given the likelihood of flying bits of steel wire.........you only get two eyes; the emergency department visit and eye surgery will cost thousands of times the expense of a great pair of googles. All applications here would have seen me using soil poison instead. This thing will annihilate a vinyl fence.
I was not impressed at all. I wont be wasting my money on that. I use the heavier weedeater line made by echo on mine and i can do it much better with that than this review. If your skilled with the weedeater you wont break the line much at all. With that wire wheel, i bet it dont last that long and i dont have to worry about the metal wire sticking in my leg as it comes apart. That thing bogged your weedeater down way to much . I run my equipment as it should be ran. I run about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and it cuts everything just fine, actually it cuts it GREAT. Thanks for the review.
Sir I could not agree more.. Anyone who has used a wire wheel on a grinder or a drill knows that those little bits of steel wire end up absolutely everywhere! Great for removing surface rust from metal but boy you will tread on one in years from now... Not to mention having them in your shins and everywhere else after using it! I'll pass thanks!
It looks okay but I believe it's too hard on the machine you can hear it bogging down not to mention it's kicking up rocks more and dirt and if someone was near you you could take their skin off their leg with that I gave it 10 thumbs down! A weed eater is meant to have string plain and simple! Boy we really have become a lazy society!

Always use from right to left when moving against the rocks and or walls. In this review you are moving from left to right and hence the kick

How do they go on long grass can't see any vids online just Small shit like knee high would grass get blocked around it

great video, seems like the metal brush would wear out quick, I'm also concern about the possible flying metal pieces.
That's what I thought but I had a forester and got the one with 2 chainsaw chains looped. I worry every time I cut lol the wire though seems like grinding or whatever. They gonna come out with use.
Absolutely you will be treading on them for years to come!
You really need to kit up for avoiding nastie cuts from flying debre and bits of wire.
Can you put the derusting weed wheel on an electric line trimmer. Electric with cord, not battery ?

Paint removal from deck/porch boards?

TRUE. These are best on hard surface paths, weeds in between, and near walls, for scattering dry mud, lichen and other debre.
A five bladed spinner is good for tall strong weeds and young trees.
How long did it last?
Where can I get one of those?
For someone who ONLY got the 'head' and no pieces .what will I need to fit my bent shaft trimmer? Please.
I don't think it will fit a bent shaft trimmer , I think you need a straight shaft brush cutter. 😉
Yes, very cool! Except, WHICH WEED WACKER IS USED? PLS RESPOND
You have to use a heavy duty straight shaft brush cutter (not a bent shaft)
Will this fit a ryobi guys
Trev can this be fitted onto a string trimmer?
No mate ,only on the larger brush cutters ..
You didn't show us how the wheel looked after that aggressive review. I don't have rocks to clean around but curious how it held up against the hitting up against the rocks?
It was still like new after that review 👍
Gday Trev, can you put that on the elcheapo ozito electric trimmer?
No John, you need to fit it to a straight shaft brush cutter, hope this helps mate 😀
would it fit on a battery-operated Ryobi trimer?
No it has to go on a brush cutter 😃
have you tried it on paving? Trying find a good tool to clean up weeds that get in between the pavers without damaging them
Yep, it's perfect for that job , and it's good for removing any dirt build up as well 😀😀😀
@@DadandMee do you get much sparks? would not want to start a fire with summer coming soon =)
I think you would be fine, u could always wet the grass to make sure
A hot Salty water solution may not be immediate, but its way Safer than a Dangerous wire wheel or Glyphosphate...just sayin'.
What machine is this particular attachment compatible with? I am having one hell of a time trying to find something it fits!!
Honda straight shaft brushcutter

No , it has to go on a brush cutter.
Maybe it's the video, but it doesn't look like it's a clean-cut like the wire. Is that what you see?
Yes that is true 👍
Can I get it at Bunnings mate?
I don't think so John , just search ( brush cutter wire wheel ) on eBay and they will be there 👍👍👍
