Remember guys, even if Netero says Pitou looks stronger than him, it isn't about raw power in HxH, it's about the ability and how well it is used.

Honestly, when Kite died, I realized once again how great this show is. In order to properly reflect human emotion and create motivation in a story, you have to have tragedy. And in reality, nobody is completely safe from harm. That moment hit hard, that's for sure, but it's a testament to just how good this show is, that we can form a bond with the characters like that and feel that loss. Don't get too down tho. Where there are lows, there must be highs. :)

Gon and Killua are 12 years old at the Hunter Exam. More than a year had passed after that, so they are around 13 to 14 currently.
Theyre 13 now, this is the aftermath of greed island (Killua also it remember) Tho in the post Chimera ant theyre already 14. M*r*m lived for more than a month, tho at the end theyre 14. Yes ur right.
This arc is one of the best anime arcs I've ever seen. It ends in an unexpected but fulfilling way.

I was on the edge of my seat and on a emotional roller coaster on this entire ark but after watching it there’s no other anime that even comes close to beating this ark in my opinion, and you need to be emotionally involved or attached in a story or it’s not a good story. You guys also have good commentary 👍

I think part of the reason the strong hunters don't get fazed is because Nen is also a training of your spirit like what Wing-san said. Kite and the other strong hunters don't get fazed because they trained thousands of times already meaning their spirit was also strengthened along with their nen.
As a HxH fan I'm always surprised at how much Kite's death effected reactors, I love Kite but we didn't know him that much especially from the 2011 anime. If the 2011 anime followed the manga's first chapter I think his death would've been more impactful but the way it was done in the anime wasn't as good as it could've been so I wasn't as devastated as everyone else seems to feel after what happened.
I think it's just because greed island ended off so happy and optimistic. Similar to how the heaven's arena arc which was a feel good training arc with extra steps into the york new/phantom troupe arc.
HxH tends to go back & forth between optimistic and devastating arcs, i find.

At this point, the Chairman does not care about Gon and Killuas own personal motives of saving Kite. The worst case scenario is the ants will be a threat to humankind. They really need strong and just few hunters to take on these ants. So while Gon and Kil doing their thing to save Kite, they are like becoming heroes to save humanity.
So at this point, don't worry much about what happened about Kite because their training should payoff in saving humanity. That was also Kite's goal from the beginning.
So just enjoy the next episodes. A lot of plot twists, insane character buildups, surprises, etc. that will happen. There are few episodes that you need to prepare ur handkerchiefs to wipe your tears. I usually don't cry, but this anime did this to me and touched my heart.
THIS ARC HAS ALSO A DEEPER MESSAGE RELATED TO OUR SOCIETY AND WE CAN LEARN FROM IT.
As bad as it is for anime viewers, us manga readers met Kite in like chapter 3 or something. You just got him, but we just got him back.

Don't feel bad about thinking of stopping because of Kite's death. I've heard of some people who even quit reading the manga after Ponzu died. While this is the greatest shounen for me and it would be a shame if you stopped watching because of last episode, it'll be understandable also because different people take death differently. With that said, I'm so glad that you're continuing this great series. And now that we got the greatest shounen upload. I hope the greatest iseikai, Mushoku Tensei ep 16, is next.
