There have been six actors who were cast as the Doctor or a companion not that long after they had played a previous role in the series - Martha being one of them [she was a Adeola Oshodi in Army of Ghosts - with only two episodes (Doomsday and The Runaway Bride ) intervening before she appeared as Martha Jones) and Amy is another (she was one of the priestesses in the Pompey episode). So having Clara appear 5 episodes after playing Oswin isn't all that odd.
The Great Intelligence has appeared before in early classic who episodes. The paternoster gang are always fun, I think Strax lost a few braincells when he was revived after the battle for demons run.
Jenna Coleman had actually been cast as the next incoming companion before the season even started. (Yeah, people knew Gillan and Darvill were leaving.) What fans hadn't expected was for Coleman to appear in the series premiere ep when Amy and Rory hadn't departed yet, which was apparently done to help throw fans off and sow confusion about why she was appearing seemingly way early. There're times during Classic Who when a new companion appears just prior to the outgoing companions leaving, but it's usually been as different characters and they liked the actors.
The Christmas special was episode 6 that time because the season was split in two parts. First part with the last episodes of Rory and Amy, then special, then a break and the second part somewhere during the spring of the next year.
Great to see you enjoy Strax so much. This is one of my favourite Xmas specials. I don't know if you missed it but when Clara went into the Tardis she mentioned making soufles (which Oswin did in the Dalek Asylum). Strax, Vastra and Jenny first (teh Pasternoster Gang) appeared in A Good Man Goes to War. You will see them again! Finally, there were a couple more specials/minisodes. One showed Strax being revived after apparently dying at Demons Run (Demons Run - Two Days Later). Another is called (I think) The Great Detective. We see the Paternoster Gang who are trying to get the Doctor to come out of isolation (following losing Amy and Rory). Not essential viewing but nice. They are somewhere on TH-cam I'm sure.
In your free time (whenever that may happen) watch "The Infinite Worlds of H G Wells", starring Tom Ward (Captain Latimer). While itself being scifi it acknowledges the major introducer of Time Travel into fiction.
Really great reaction! I really like your style. I was wondering if you have any advice or like tips/tricks for a new reactor such as myself. Thank you and keep up the hard work ❤️👍

There is also a short before this one that sort of explains how long he was on the cloud for.
Mind you turning the Classic Yetis into literal Snowmen was a headscratcher.
The paternoster Gang should have gotten it's own spinoff
@@Hanmacx the actors have said that the prosthetics were too much to make a full on spin-off

Strax being confused about genders never gets old.
Finally🙌🏻🙌🏻I love Clara!
Me too. One of two of my favorite companions
The voice of the Great Intelligence was Ian McKellen

So close to the 50th Anniversary Special.

Ahhhhhhh yes finally!!!! One of my fav episodes!😍😍😍
Yeah, Strax is awesome.
Finding out about the villain would require a deep dive into 50 years ago.

Just saw your reaction to the pilot for Shameless. In case you didn’t know they are gonna be after credits starting with episode 2
A very sweet episode. Fun, joyful, scary and a bit sad. And your reactions were very nice 👏👏👏👏👏
Snow voiced by Sir Ian McKellan
Now this is where it gets complicated....
