Our Understanding of Humanitarian Mission Projects
Photography and videography have long been a crucial part of the communications of any humanitarian mission. Video productions have been in use as a means of communication in the development sector for more than 30 years. As the usage of this medium grows in diverse directions, the more developed and precise it becomes in terms of its language and style. Video in the development sector is not only about filming for change in developing countries but also about addressing development needs from different perspectives. Reduced costs and technical accessibility of digital video production have allowed this medium to branch off into a wide variety of different productions each of which serves their unique purpose. For example, videos for awareness raising and advocacy are not the same as videos for stakeholder engagement and action. They require different styles and approaches. As stated in the RFQ, the Rohingya situation has become more of a protracted situation rather than an emergency life-saving operation and requires adequate funding to respond to at least the basic needs of almost 1 million refugees. Video productions in multi-stakeholder development activities mainly focus on how to address complex development problems and realities. In stakeholder engagement and action, we often face complex problems, conflict situations, competing interests and views, and negotiations. The creative process behind the video needs to take all of these into account and produce the best possible outcome. The development arena is multi-faceted and involves many stakeholders. The challenge of this sector is to address their needs in an equitable and sustainable manner.
We have a sound understanding of the context of development/humanitarian missions in Bangladesh and have worked our way through a number of different kinds of video productions for humanitarian missions. Our collaborative effort to understand a developing story in a particular situation enables us with the necessary insights to undertake any such project. Our team is young but well-seasoned to the difficult landscape of the Rohingya camps as we have multiple members who have worked on multiple projects in the Rohingya camps both in 2017 and 2018. We have significant experience in Donor Films, visual productions for Good Will Ambassador missions, and fundraising communications.
