"Don't sing along" is Bowie's code for "Sing along as loud as you fucking can"
lol !!
TheParagade indeed! !!
Exactly
Robert, when why does he point his mic out to the audience for them to sing?
@@dustythe2nd188 David said it knowing full well everyone was going to sing. He wasn't serious by asking people not to sing.

I was lucky enough to see Bowie twice in concert. R.i.p. David Bowie, you are missed, but your music lives on.
Lucky!
How can you dislike Bowie? Not only was he an amazing singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, but he was one of the coolest, yet nicest, people to exist!!
yes he was
It’s about love
No one dislikes him
2004
He's also an actor
Sirius would absolutely love this
ANYTHING FOR OUR MOONY
He'd have been 73 years old today, forever a young dude!
He aged gracefully and now he is immortalised

77 now dude
The sheer amount of nostalgia this song carries, just because it’s mentioned in a fanfiction I owe a sizeable piece my personality to. I can’t even imagine how potently this song hits you if you were alive back when it was written.
21.00 Hrs.
Hi Racoon, thanks. I was around when this came out, I was 11. Yes it hits hard- the post Woodstock generation finds its feet, mostly in platforms with dangerously wide flares and Baggies inches above and there was still some innocence pre Watergate, refreshed political cynicism, the Three Day Week in the U.k. with free contraception and no AIDS. Oh God, I’m sounding nostalgic, better stop. Take care, Stu X
Thank you Dave for passing it on to the rightful owners. Thank you, great show chap!
Currently crying over grant Chapman
The spirit of Sirius Black was here and no one will tell me otherwise.
All the young dudes, just timeless .
PLS REMUS AND SIRIUS WHOULD BE FREAKING OUT IF THEY WATCH THIS
He's so beautiful - he's like a teenager & he's in his late 50's here. So sexy, beautiful, brilliant, and talented. He never lost his mojo. We will always love you, David!

These young dudes are carrying the NEWS especially the boogaloo dudes. Rest in peace David Bowie.
I'm 18 again, in college, carefree ! Yea David Bowie....lets dance
Aren't you just glad you were born in the 70s growing up with all these Legends, instead of the non-existant shite of today?!!!
Bowie wrote this song for the British band, "Mott The Hoople" to help them succeed and stay together. It worked, but the song reveals more about himself than any other song 🎵 that he ever wrote. I miss you❤️
Yep. He gave them one of his best songs. That's pretty generous for an artist.
And Mott the Hoople did a really good job with it. That's the version I grew up with and like best. It did keep the band together for a short while and they produced a few other excellent songs.
He is eternally classy and manages to sound better than ever. We were fortunate to have David Bowie in our lives.
Rod McDonough yes..we were blessed by his elegant, brilliant presence..God I miss him!- Sofieann B.
Hi was a best
@@michaellafreniere3599 I never met the man so for me it's no different him being dead or alive, as we are all still watching his videos and listening to his music. In that sense, he's not dead but immortalised

About that
Wonder if anyone else noticed that the beginning drum intro is actually the intro to Young Americans. I'm sure this wasn't a mistake, but another clever thing Bowie is known for.
It's hard for me to believe that this song was released in 1972 I was totally born in the wrong time period. I grew up listening to the music from the 1960s-1970s because it was what my parents listened to so I did as well. It's a shame that music isn't like this anymore the rock bands of the 1970's where the Gods of music world whose music will live on for an eternity. Today's music doesn't have shit compared to The Rock Gods of the 70's
The greatest rock star ever.

Bowie at 57 was cooler than I am now, at 23.
BlairBlitz David Bowie at any age was cooler than you...and me...and Ghandi...and god
Yes Johnny, Thats so true......
Blair, I know that feeling way too well.
When your grandparents were cooler then you..
David Bowie was and is cooler than anyone in recorded human history. And God. Plus, he was a nice person.
The one half of me that's been listening to David Bowie since I was about four years old and the other half of me that's a sad marauders fan 😭
I love the Internet! Just felt in love with the Marauders; found this Video while searching for the song an there you are are: Anything for our Mooney

It's my Bday and I can here to cry. Everything I have done musically is to honor the man I consider my musical Father. I miss him so much.
the one at the back in the saint george t-shirt ....
dude , your (future ) ( 😉 ) legend is sealed in Bowie History ....
God damn I miss David Bowie! 😪
Bowie wrote it for Mott, and specifically with Hunter's vocal style in mind - and with it saved Mott The Hoople. He had offered them Suffragette City, which they rejected.
most people don`t know this. he wrote this song for Mott The Hoople when he heard they were thinking about breaking up. he penned it in about 2 hours from what i have read. there are millions of people that can play guitar and there are millions of people that can sing. writing lyrics and music is what makes a legend. Bowie is a legend!
And like most of Bowies music of the period an uncredited mick ronson
@@gman5218 on the original track Mick Ralphs played acoustic and electric guitar. Not a slouch either
2004
Mott didn’t last too long… even Bowie couldn’t help them in the long run.
Probably one of the most humble musicians ever. His enormous fame and talent kept him grounded
100% true.

The Kanon in D is getting in all Genres and Songs🥺
coolest star in history
Anything for our moony.
One rare rockers that didn't grow old he aged like fine wine
David Bowie you are beautiful
David Bowie's last public appearance in the UK. I had the privilege of seeing him twice live. First time in the 80s in Manchester on the Glass Spider tour then on my birthday 1990 at the National Bowl Milton Keynes on the Sound + Vision tour. Moral of the story is see artists when you can as they aren't going to be around forever. Much as we like to think they will be
What the hell is the guy here? 57? Looking like the young dude himself. Awesome. This guy was a force til the end.
+Kane Alson Yes it is unbelievable how youthful he looked well into his late 50's! Amazing. He definitely still had it as a performer as well.
+Kane Alson So true.....
Age is a state of mind
bowie is complete proof of that...age is a state of mind and we are timeless
@ emma...it's also proof that he can cover a song just about better than the original. God I miss this guy.
Lol to think this is 2004, I'm 8 years old, and have no idea who this man is. Now I'm 19 and I'm obsessed with him!
Update: and to think I wrote this a month before he passed, I was all hyped up for his new album and never thought he'd die so soon. Miss ya Bowie.
+Sydney O'Bier You'll earn your Seat on the Jedi Council yet young master! Bowie is a rare diamond the world should know about and a younger generation should know about.
+eqsmooth They were not the first to record this song. David Bowie recorded it himself hours after he wrote it sitting in his living room with his friend.
+eqsmooth They were not the first to record this song. David Bowie recorded it himself hours after he wrote it sitting in his living room with his friend.
Haytham Kenway Yup! David "gifted" it to them. Totally saved them from premature obscurity (as well as their new vocalist, Ian Hunter). They did put out quite a few stand outs tho. Hymn for the dudes and Ballad of Mott are particular gems
+Sydney O'Bier Smart girl!
They did some oasis riffs. Bowie is truly a Legend.
All the Young Dudes? I'm belting it out Loudly.
Bowie was a true artist and showman. We will not see the likes of him again in our lifetime. His genius and artistry will be the influence for many young musicians for generations to come...
I already listen david bowie beetwen a long time, but the fact of to be a marauder fan introduce me more into bowie, i love this man
I still can’t believe he wrote a song about the Marauders

I can't listen to this song without thinking of the Marauders and now I'm literally crying lol
The things i would do to see this song live
Such an amazing voice! What a loss. I miss this young dude!
He looks so content and happy here. What a wonderful performance!!
This was my highlight song when I saw him at the Woodlands Pavilion just outside Houston TX on April 29th 2004! Just sheer brilliance!
RONSON : Mick Ronson, all that and a bag of chips. Went back, listened to Bowie sing "Dudes" and Ronson just blows that guitarist out of the water. With my headphones, I can hear that guitar screaming through the whole song. Watching his body movements as he gets out of that guitar all it has to give, he acts like a 20-something, not 46 who dies from liver cancer a year later almost to the day. I think in his mind he knew this was his last performance and he gave it all he had.
OMG, David Bowie has always been drop dead gorgeous, no matter what age... So much charm, such a beautiful voice... I could listen to him forever and fall in love with him over and over again! ❤
Sa Stu yah compared to jagger..altho he can sing..,never come close to Bowie class...❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦

The amazing thing about David Jones is just how long it took him to realise that he was a musical genius. A brilliant actor too.

Dear god. So hard. How I wish you were still alive. Who is going to light the way, now? Who remains that can make me feel like life is good, because there are creators like you?
I know many young talented people out there were influenced by you so someone worthy will surely come along.
But Someone quite like you, no more.
