- This is part 2 of the cable repair. I start by removing the cable clamp which can be a nightmare at times. Once removed it’s a straight forward job really. Hope this helps someone with their own repair.
I just repaired one of these. I drilled out the two separate wire holes just a tad larger and left the metal retaining ring in the white retaining part. I simply pulled and pushed the cord back into place and dabbed some glue on it and dabbed glue on the anti kink piece as well. (the wire break/separation was within the area of the anti kink go figure...) So far it's holding up. my only concern is how long the on/off button will stay on with glue i used.
@shawnyoung3828 I use B7000 to glue the buttons back on, its a good strong glue for this application and when it comes to removing the buttons again it a matter of prying them up and using a little heat or more persuasion to break the bond.
I have tried in the past to leave the metal clamp in position and drill the holes out to 2.5mm (or equivalent imperial size) but the outer cable won't fit back in the clamp securely enough and kept pulling out. I'm the end I removed the metal clamp and managed to get enough surface area to glue securely. Worked for me but whatever way works it's a fix in my book.
Maybe you can just 3d print that white plastic thingy. Save more time for future repair
@@trym2121 I’m looking into getting a 3D printer and just doing some research for a home/hobby model. If I can learn how to print one it would be perfect for me, I can’t buy them from anywhere so it would be nice to print my own. I’d like to have someone 3D print one just to see how they are. Any suggestions on a mid range model would be greatly appreciated 👍
