Didn't think they'd pass Manor of Infinite Forms IN ONE YEAR, but these guys somehow did it. If you haven't had a chance to see them live, do whatever you can to do so, they're killer. Super chill dudes too. Love this album!
20 Buck Spin has been killing it lately. Tomb Mold is pretty amazing. I picked this one up this morning. I've only heard the three songs that were on Bandcamp, but they were all rad, so it was an easy choice to put my money down.
Really like Sarah's reviews, remind me of the drunk conversations with friends regarding which band released the most brutal/obscure album in the semester, pure love for the genre
Saw these guys open for Cannibal Corpse a couple month's ago and they killed it...I was super impressed with how well the drummer played while doing vocals. Met the guitarist as well, cool dude.
So awesome to see that Legend rec. That record was listened to HARD back when I discovered it. I pre-ordered the re-release a month or so ago. Like quite a few, I discovered them via the Slough Feg cover, and when I noticed Legend's status on their MA page was "active", I did a complete double take. The only reason I even thought of randomly popping in on their MA page was because of listening the the NEW Feg record (New Organon). Full circle. Feels good. And as far the Legend pre-orders go...like Devin Townsend once said - "Buy TWO T-shirts".
Half way through comment - I love that you have all these records on the desk as references. I don't know if this is a thing you always do - I've only seen one other review you've done - but I love it.
4:50 I don't know the lyrics to "Heat Death" but it might be named after the scientific theory of the universe's fate in which all heat is reduced to such a low equalized state that entropy no longer functions as normal.
Great review as always Sarah!! Love the band and was especially looking forward to this album this year. It did not disappoint. I do disagree about the Phosphorene Ultimate track though. With the haunting atmospheric opening of Beg for Life ( as well as the acoustic section which seems like a throw back to "Two Worlds Become One" off Manor) and the expanding void closing of Heat Death, the 3 min cosmic transmission track seems wasteful to me. But in the end i do agree with you about the rating. 4.5/5 is what I gave it.
Thanks for another great review. I love all the references, more stuff to discover. And the By Fire & Sword record is great! Thanks for another new band to follow!
I only saw the album cover going through Google music new releases and it suggested Tomb Mold because of my interest in Der Weg Einer Freiheit and have been blasting this album everyday so far, really impressed with the songwriting, production and overall feel. It has a great old school DM feel which has been lacking in the scene. Also very impressed with how much music they put out, 3 records in 3 years is backbreaking work so kudos to the guys in Tomb Mold for busting their ass and working as hard as they do.
@@musicminds247 It is impressive, but I don't buy albums because they're impressive. I buy them because they're good, inventive, and I want to listen to them and I think the vocals here need more variety. The good and the bad is that there are millions of these types of releases out there and I can find what I want, no need to settle.
Awesome review and awesome album! Just saw Tomb Mold and Superstition on Tuesday for my bday and they blew me away! I didn't even realize their vocalist is also the drummer til I saw them.
Great review! Brilliant reviewer. Serious depth of knowledge in metal history. This record is an all out ass kicker. These guys and Blood Incantation, among a few others, are definitely the future. Ignore your doubts; snort some Tomb Mold!
Great review as usual, Sarah! I've been listening to this all day. It seems that the last album had an almost crusty punk feel where this one is kinda groovy almost. I really like it and the Cynic comparison is spot on! Also, that Blood Incantation tape you flashed is one of the best death metal releases of the last few years.
Tomb Mold, Frozen Soul, Blood Incantation and Gatecreeper, I find these 4 very unique and I feel they're bringing something not "New" but something different
Man, 2018 really was THE year for death metal, but 2019 is bringing the hits. Maybe not as many releases this year, but the death metal coming out in 2019 is so👏fucking👏great👏. I really think we’ve been experiencing a ripper renaissance of death metal in recent years and I’m so excited about it.
Be ready to get down and close to the stage for Necrot. Saw them live a couple of years ago on a Black Dahlia tour and they were the best band of the night, hands down.
They aren't the future, they're the present. Blood Incantation, Horrendous, Tomb Mold -- Awesome that you mention the same bands that I'd say are the best in the scene right now.
This album is absolutely fantastic! The album just continuously gets better song after song, and due to the short length you're left wanting more by the end. Stuck between Cerulean Salvation or Heat Death as favorite tracks
Can somebody please get Sarah’s notes on a que card so she’s not looking off camera so much it becomes a drinking game? I love Sarah’s reviews. They are thoughtful, without being pretentious. She gives clear, concise reviews with plenty of explanation(historical, rhetorical, and personal). I just wished she looked directly into the camera more.
love the review and the band! Not gunna lie was hoping for a SABATON review from sarah. I get that sabaton is now a "big" band so may not be the coolest to review. that being said I am a sucker for Sabaton and its historical cheesery. Maybe someone else will review it.
Although we share slightly different taste in extreme metal, I feel that Sarah is my spirit animal. So wonderful to see someone so passionate about what they do.
So far my favorite Tomb Mold releases have been Primordial Malignity and Cerulean Salvation. I have to listen to this one more though to figure out where it ranks among their other releases for me
right on the mark with that convulse comparison, but yeah this record is fucking glorious and tomb mold is definitely one of the most promising bands in death metal right now
Great work as usual, Sarah! I always enjoy your reviews. Killer album, btw. After multiple listens, I can honestly say it's my new pick for AOTY. PS: Keep up the good work, banger crew. I appreciate the fuck out of you all and what you do for the metal community.
These guys are prolific! The vocals on the last album just had no variety and that was a turnoff for me but this album, from what I hear sounds more proficient and interesting, will check it out, thanks for a great review Sara!
G'day, I'm new-ish to the channel and I was wondering if you guys have reviewed or heard of the Australian band EVOCATUS and their album MORTEM IN DEOS. Cheers and have a great weekend.
If my admiration for Sarah's reviews (and, admittedly, a crush on her) was bad enough, she had to go announce that she was excited for Legend's "From the Fjords"!!! Hell yeah, Legend! And, yes, hell yeah Sarah! You rock my world.
I thought you where going to review The Great War by Sabaton, because they are Sabaton and they are the biggest release this month, but I'm happy that it was Tomb Mold, because the albums is awesome.
That's funny, I find her 100% cringe, along with the whole crew. Actually, banger TV is nothing but cringe when it comes to people who actually respect and love metal!
Super cringe... even though he is older and therefore have more cred than I on the surface, I rarely agree with his lists and takes on the year features so much that sometimes Iget angry about it. I would say him and San Dunn are in the top 3 cringiest. But I love them all, this doesn't come from a place of hate BangerTV, it comes from me being an eltiust shithead.
@@RiverNihil I love his year features. He goes against the grain especially when people often pick dumb choices based on the biggest band name. Picking British Steel for 1980 or Technical Ecstasy for 1977 is just plain dumb. He always refutes dumb shit like that and pulls out good gems. Plus, he's a nwobhm fanatic, so I love the old guy.
We all agree Sarah is a metal treasure, right? Great review full of insight, references, and obvious passion.
we agree
She kicks ass!!
Hell yeah!!!
Add more Sarah, fire Sam Dunn.
Aside from the belzebubs hatchet job. Yeah.
New Tomb Mold already, what a time to be alive.
Wearing fashionable pants, eating Moon Pies and blasting new Tomb Mold!!!!

There should be a band called Tomb Moss who only play facing north.
i have a band of baby elephants that play facing the east

Cerulean Salvation > MoIF
There playing in nyc tonight I’ll be there
The delicious irony of the camera struggling when introducing the album called 'focus'
Focus you fahhhk
Cynic - Focus, Atheist - Unquestionable Presence are both masterpieces.

Material used in a Holy Chalice ritual.
Mould that grows from rotten flesh and blood inside the old labyrinth. Matures to bear giant spores.
God yes I love Sarah's reviews
She's the best. They should should fire that poser guy.

Been jamming this record since Clairvoyance Fest in Lexington, KY! This record is absolutely phenomenal

I haven't been this excited to hear a review in a long time, also while we're at it, Times of Obscene Evil is one of my top 10 this year.

The first song didn't sell me, but the second one did. Now if only the vocals were as adventurous and dynamic as the rest of the music...
Well, considering the drummer also does all the vocals, I’d say it’s pretty damn impressive
