Please keep making these videos and cover as many cars as possible, your subscriber base will expand slowly and steadily, as your content appeals to only a niche group of people. Keep it up man, waiting for your next video.

    I have owned one of these for 6 years - its a 2007 320 CDI. It goes like a freight train and cruises well. The straight line performance is nothing short of awesome but I have recorded 48 mpg taking it carefully on long journeys. The build quality is really high and the MK 1 styling is superb and looks a lot better than the Mk 2. In 6 years the car has been remarkably reliable. I have the standard suspension and it is too hard for me and the car is so low it only just scrapes over speed humps and crashes over pot holes - I guess that is the price for the sexy looks. I had to replace the 3rd brake light which is built into the rear parcel shelf so not only did I have to pay £115 for the LCD strip light I also had to shell out £200 in labour to strip out the whole back seat, C pillars and the parcel shelf because there was no other way to replace the light - bad design when a plastic access panel would have been easy to build in. I also had to strip the passenger door panel to reattach the window motor and that was a rotten job without the special tools. However apart from that the car is a beauty, well built, powered, reliable and a real looker!

    Got 2006 320 CDI. What a lovely drive!!! Too bad I have approached 2 issues. First was ESP malfunction which disabled cruise control and abs. Nice gentleman provided solution on TH-cam as well as price calculation. Mercedes dealer 300£ and couple of hours vs myself - 5min job and "Brakes light switch" replacement that cost under 8£ to buy in shop --> solved easily
    Second is recently developed --> jerking while hard acceleration. That same gentleman advised me that Mercedes dealership identified issue as some electrical component which is being damaged by oil leakage. Service cost apparently 1500£, I wish to identify that part myself as that money it's nearly a half of the current value of this car. Obviously I will not pay that much for this repair especially that that gentleman said it solved problem for less than 4 years.... It looks like cars are being affected just after 120k mileage. Talking about 3.0dci engine. My car is 123k and 2006. No issue if only cruising, so you could live with this for a while.... Otherwise I am in love with the way this car delivers. I don't like to get out of it. Sometimes I just drive around without a reason, only for the pleasure of driving.

      It's pretty much the E-class with different body styling. So the "common" problems are well known and documented, hence there are tons of E-classes around there. I'd only be worried about the balance gear worn in V6 (and also some early V8) and the 7-speed gearbox. Windows may fail but they are not that expensive to repair. Even the SBC-unit can be maintained/repaired with reasonable cost. I have owned one for 4 years now and only problems were I've had were water pump and had to replace front airmatic struts.

    Helpful video; I have the 2008 5.5 liter, 7 speed-transition with around 95k miles. I've had window regulators replaced, some light front end work, but the worse yet is the windscreen leaking without me knowing and then the sun baked the leather dash curling up the driver's corner (heart breaking). I've loved every day of owning this car, it looks fantastic even 11 years after, is quick and with the Designo interior it's unique. I'd buy another without hesitation.

I remember when the CLS came out and I loved them as soon as I saw the shape and the refinement. If I wanted a saloon, I wouldn’t bother with anything other than either these, an A8 or an XJ. Anything below would be just a disappointment and May as well, could go for an estate or 5dr version.

      Michelle Boatright as soon as you lock the car the suspension will go down no matter what settings you have it in. Either, comfort, sport 1 or 2, or fully raised. I have never heard of airmatic getting stuck up in the air. Usually it drops to the floor when the compressor fails. You should hear a hissing sound when you turn the cat off and lock the doors. That is the airbags releasing the air

    I have a 2006 cls500 while driving the power steering started to not work, then the message board showed, in red, a battery. Message stated; go to workshop. The temperature light went on and temperature raised rapidly. I parked the car for an hour then started to drive home. I had no power steering, and the battery showed on message board saying check battery/alternator. Check engine light was on too. About 10 minutes from home the temperature went up, again rapidly. Brakes started failing and I could not accelerate. I made it 1/2 way in the driveway. Any suggestions? Also is one of the pulleys ( round wheel that the belt goes around) suppose to be loose?

    • @StudioMargalima
      @StudioMargalima 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Must say i am not a car technician and most certainly not a Merc one, but the acceleration issue sounds like your engine is in emergency run mode. That's normally not good news. I wonder how things go by now though?

    • @lz5725
      @lz5725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely you found the problem already but my guess would be something with the powersteering belt which also runs the coolant pump and altenator (charger). When it brakes you lose powersteering, the car will show in red battery failure warning and the tempatures will rise if you continue driving. And no, pulleys should not be mooving.
