These tips are awesome and very well demonstrated, another one i use is a small spot of super glue on the rear end of the maggots and simply stick them to the foam or a poppup, they stay alive longer and no maggot juice on your fingers from stabbing them with a needle, they also seem to be able to wriggle more without the thread restricting their movement slightly.
I have recently found time to go fishing again after a few years away and I never used to go in January for carp but thought I'd give it a crack today, I watched this video the night before because I knew that maggots would be a good option but wanted to know a good way to present them, the maggot ball on cotton worked with and without corn and I ended up with two double figure commons, I will definitely be catching more winter carp now so thank you
As ever very well explained and showed. I Show your vids to my son and my nephew (who subscribed asap, I guess). Even if they don't understand english (yet) they get very good Information! Thanks for that!!!
Great video as always mate. Always have a pint of maggots in my armoury whilst fishing in winter along with sweetcorn. Also another key to unlocking a lake if its hard for a bite. Keep it up lads and good work as usual 👍👍🎣
Nice video! Insted of u sing a clip i just put the maggots on a size 6 hook and the carp was eating it like nothing (still had a boilie on the hair rig)
I’m soo confused, I’ve been watching this channel loads and I didn’t recognised that this was a totally different channel just thought it was Carl and Alex fishing😂
Could u do a vid on how to find spots in lake using maker floats and leads , personally that’s my weakest point in carp fishing and I’m sure a lot more carp anglers too, cheers
Hey Carl and Alex, amazing video as always. I am a North American based angler and maggots are not readily available. Could you do a similar video on worms for freshwater fishing?
Hi lookin for a advice. Ive just joined a local lake thats been there over 30 years and has never been heavily fished the owners say its just thrived on natural foods the carp go upto 30lb . I fished it last week for the first time and just used my usual bait and tactics pop ups boilies corn etc but not a sniff. So My question is would you think this is the perfect lake to give maggots ago
Hello what is the advantage of not rigging the bait directly on the hook? I've never tried these rigs while float fishing and I still catch some fish with it
What’s your opinion on using worms for carp? I’ve used them a few times and caught a few fish on them. I threaded them onto some 4lb mono and then tied that to the hair caught me a trench and a carp. Not sure what would be better maggots or worms tho. Worms are free though from the garden compost heap or under the plant pots
Awesome video! I've learned a lot from you guys (even though I have a lot more years on both you 😉) and your videos are always brilliant. I was wondering on your thoughts of using this sort of rig for big perch? I have a few places loxalvto me that are known for 3lb stripes and was thinking of having a go for them this year. Keep up the great work!
Can you still use maggots affectively in summer months. Im goin to a lake for 3 nights were its hookbaits only so i thought more live like baits like maggots could give me an edge what are your thoughts
I would use a standard food processor or a stick blender your choice but I feel like the food processor gives you a finer texture also I would leave some bread out in the bag in a sunny place like a greenhouse or winter as this makes the bread stale and easier to turn into like a crumb
The best place to fish with maggots is where ever the fish are. In the winter this will usually be in either deep water or near snags and reeds. In the summer for sure shallower parts of the water will be ideal!
Yes you can, just make sure the maggots and the rig are completely dry. Also compact it as tight as you can otherwise too many air bubbles will be trapped and the bay can float. Good luck mate!
@@fishingtutorials got it, thanks guys, appreciate that, just a second question, as I've not used pva before, after my initial cast what do you recommend in terms of drying the tackle before reloading into a new bag? Or does this tend not to be an issue?
Great video. Thanks very much. Can anyone help me? Every time I strip back a section of the coating in order to place the shot (for the pop up maggot rig) the coating on the rest of the link just twists and completely ruins the whole hook link. Any ideas?
@@fishingtutorials I've worked out the issue. Cheap coated braid was the problem! The coating was just awful. Got myself a better quality one and the striping worked first time, no twisting. Stuck a big ball of maggots on the hair and bagged a 6lb chub on the first cast! Thanks guys.

I’ve been fishing 20 year and still consider myself amateur at best 😂
these videos are really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make them
As a keen sea angler who is slowly getting into course fishing instead of chasing tides all the time this is faultless and very detailed Thanks! 👏🏼
Cheers for watching!
I'm an amateur at best but my young seven year old son is mad for fishing. These tutorials are excellent, thanks guys. ☺

Absolutely fabulous work. This video is on point and so true. Movement definitely the reason maggots work. Love em.
Good work Carl. There’s no doubt maggots can be an excellent choice in cold weather and knowing how to present them effectively is a big help.
Cheers Dave, agreed :)

Great rig that maggot rig at the start, I normally use that rig with worms over a bed of dead reds over the winter months. Works great
Such a great informative video! Keep em coming! ✊🏻
Everyday we learn with you, thanks a lot 😉🤙🏻
Great video guys! Keep doing what your doing!👍
Wicked video guys I've always wanted to use maggots but never knew how to get the on the hair I'll be sure to use then on my next trip
Good luck Ben!
hi, i’m from germany.. i have test it today and it was really good.. much small fish, but for winter better than no fish👍✌🏻
Good work Rene!
This video was a great help thanks
Where do you purchase the foam to make it a pop up presentation? Great video
Nice one Carl.... good job
Very good 😍👍🏻maggot is the best bait
Great video, I'm thinking of trying that maggot clip rig now 👍
Thank you :) all the best for your fishing :)
Will this rig work just as well with n-trap soft, if you swapped that with the dark matter?
Could u do a vid on how to find spots in lake using maker floats and leads , personally that’s my weakest point in carp fishing and I’m sure a lot more carp anglers too, cheers
Could u do a video showing how to do a figure of 8 knot with a swivel I am struggling with the swivel can do the knot
Does anyone else just watch these videos because they love Carl and Alex

Can you use waxworms or mealworms as an alternative?
Could you do a zig rig video please
Can you still use maggots affectively in summer months. Im goin to a lake for 3 nights were its hookbaits only so i thought more live like baits like maggots could give me an edge what are your thoughts
Brilliant video thanks guys 👍
Cheers Adam.
Is tubing on the hook not used for pop-up rigs?
how would you attach this to a inline lead
Do carp bite soft plastic worm lures?
Thanks for the help 👍👍
As a match angler i am about effieceny so I feed in right areas so when catapulting the bait use a heavier elastic as you get a tighter spread
Another great video, are you using the Daiwa GS4000 for light spodding?
Yeah, we will just use our normal fishing reel for spodding. Only when casting far is it important to have a specialist spod set up.
Thanks guys 🎣
Can you also use a corn pop up with the maggots??
Yes I’ve used it before you can use fake corn or real corn I suggest fake corn with abit of krill liquid on it that will work
Just a question but is the tungsten braid necessary or can I use normal Korda
Line
You can use normal line, but we find the coated braid nice and heavy and camouflaged so that's why we use it :)
Great tutorial 👌👍
Cheers Lee, glad to hear it :)
Great lads! They've given me the fishing bug again
Brilliant tutorial guys !!
Could anyone tell me what you used in the video to blend the bread, please :)

Great vid as always 👍
I've been using mag clips 4 years those korda ones are useless. Usually blunt! And need modifications to push the point down. Esp ones are the best
Ive had no issue with korda tackle
Recon you could get away with putting worms on a maggot clip?
Good video😊😊😊👍👍👍👋👋👋
Can you use the maggot clip on the floating rig instead of string?
Yeah for sure!
Good vid as always All my fish was on a octopus tig
Rig
nice 1! I am fishiing the tomahawk rig when combining maggots with a pop up or fake corn or so
Could you use a maggot mix in a solid pva bag? Or is that a no go
Yes you can, just make sure the maggots and the rig are completely dry. Also compact it as tight as you can otherwise too many air bubbles will be trapped and the bay can float. Good luck mate!

Excellent.
Can you show us an adjustable zig rig?
We'll try to do a tutorial on this at some point.

Blimey, as a relative novice there is no way I could do all that knotting and tying of line..... is there premade version available?
i went fishing yesterday at 7am and used this i caught a 16lb carp thanks
It’s weird how I can smell the maggots by watching 😂
I know what you mean 🤭
It might be you're maggot you can smell😷
John j no just used to the smell when I go fishing
What magots is that?
Great video 👍

@@fishingtutorials kingcarp 20lb coated braid. It just twists the coating and makes the rest of it unusable. Odd.
Ah that’s strange! We use Dark Matter braid from Korda with no problems at all :)

How can have really red maggot?
Awesome buddy ..
How many litres is your tank behind you in the video?
It's 430 litres. :)
love the vid guys

How expensive maggots get in UK? In Romania i can buy a liter for about 2pounds. Just curious 😁
I bought half a litre for £3 at the weekend. More than double your price!!
